  • Marlin Bohling and Eric Relph discuss the USDA data that came out on Friday, including the June quarterly stocks report and the planet acreage report. They express frustration with the USDA's delay in releasing the data and the technical issues with their website. They also question the accuracy and reliability of the USDA's reports, citing past errors and revisions. The conversation covers the corn, soybean, and wheat acreage numbers, as well as the stocks numbers for corn and soybeans. They analyze the market reactions and discuss the implications for livestock and feed prices. They also touch on the stock market, the US dollar, and the upcoming 4th of July holiday.

I've been saying this for years. Thanks for finally calling out the frauds at the usda. Nobody else seems to have the balls to do it for some reason.

👍The dark humour of Orwell's 1984 that he missed : the clownish comedy of incompetent government departments such as the USDA👍

Does anyone remember Jim Rogers once upon a time suggesting that it's not a good idea to get investment advice from government data? USDA is Government. Regardless of who made the assertion - given the really peculiar weather patterns that have and continue to emerge - it seems justified to be extra critical of USDA data prints as they seem to be diverging from fundamentals. Would anyone be surprised if the USDA made significant revisions after the election?

nw central ohio. i sold most of our beans back at the beginning of the year, to just before spring planting season. i may have a 500 bushels left in the bin. corn, i'm just trying to keep enough to feed my 50 cows till november, we might have a 1000 bushels i can move still. we just finished our srw wheat and talking to the guys in the pits. for june contract to deliver. it looks like locals were 20% over sold. they were expecting 500k bushels and only had about 275k delivered. our wheat BPA were way down, looking like 10 bushels less than what teh normal county average is.
early planted beans are decent, on time beans are 50/50 ok, late planted beans are pure crap, not even going to try 2nd crop beans. we had ahard hitting drought spell and almost had to do a30% replant with our on time beans. just hoping they turn around and finish better than they started.

Why? Because it's much more profitable to be a trader with inside information.

I still have 20% of last years corn and 49% of last years beans left. Our corn in North Central Iowa was much better than expected last year but the beans were disappointing. I know one field in the area that was going into beans but got switched to 3rd year corn because it did so well last year. Are you guys sure the planted acres numbers aren’t right? Flooding makes the harvested acres lower not the planted and intended to plant acres lower. Seems like you are looking at the numbers wrong. Our crops don’t look very good this year because we are way too wet but they are planted.

Someone get caught on the wrong side of the report. Sure sounds like sour grapes on your part. Don’t trade your back yard.
Don’t act like you were going trade the split second it was released. Like I said you just upset because the market is going against you.
You both sound like whiners. Let me guess long and wrong.
