The problem with slimmed down monarchy is that the ones you want to 'slim' cling on to their titles and the ones who slip down the line of the succession are very popular. Glad that Sophie and Edward have been rewarded for behaving like royals ought to.
KCIII should also think of succession planning as most of the current working monarch are quite old and should enjoy their retirement soon (though the late Queen never stop her service until much later on).

I'm so glad your reporter chose to use this language instead of a multitude of other reporters stating " the Queen GAVE Frogmore Cottage as a wedding present." This absolutely clarifies the issue. If they lived there, at least 6 months of the year, it would make some sense in them keeping the lease. Although they promised to pay the refurb money back, Charles ended up paying most of it. While King Charles III has said the title of Duke of Edinburgh will not pass on to Edward's son, James, who is to say that that decision won't change just as Camilla's title, which was to be Princess Consort, has now been elevated to Queen Consort. She will be rightly crowned as Queen at the coronation. Edward and Sophie are said to be close to the Prince and Princess of Wales. This may be Charles' way of deferring any additional change by leaving it to PW so as not to look hypocritical. While I understand the need for a slimmed down monarchy, I don't think it should be done by not bestowing titles upon those doing the heavy lifting. If he really wants to slim down the monarchy, ask Parliament to strip H&M of their Duke and Duchess titles. They are doing nothing productive related to the RF with them. Why should they keep them? I believe that King Charles means automatically given . Like Lady Louise has been given the opportunity to become HRH if she decides to undertake royal duties once she has turned 18 I am sure James will be given the same option when he turns 18.

I think the comment by the viewer about Princess Anne stepping in with regards to the family problems was actually very insightful. I love Queen Camilla and think she is a great partner to King Charles, but it's so true that she is not in a position with the family to step into family relationships. I've often thought Princess Anne would be great at sorting Montecito duo out, and probably even Andrew. If the King hasn't already thought of getting Anne involved, I think he should! Princess Anne is, after all, now the matriarch of the family.
The only thing is, the Princess Royal works quite hard as it is, and might not wish to spend her leisure time sorting out her brothers, as opposed to, IDK, riding with her grandchildren.

I find it rather poignant that the Prince of Wales visited Poland. We have a war in Europe. The invasion of Poland led to the declaration of another war - WWII. The kings grandfather was a staunch supporter of the british goverment during the war, and I think the late Queen's sense if duty was, at least partly, forged at during those years. Now is certainly a time for Europe to come together. As a norwegian whose king found refuge in the UK during the last war, it is during the hard times symbols like the RF really become important.

With all due respect to Queen Elizabeth II, and that is an enormous amount from me, it took a (relatively) young and newly conferred Princess of Wales, to FINALLY and FIRMLY establish women’s pantsuits as equally appropriate business attire as their skirt/dress-and-jacket cousins, along with trousers for more casual occasions, without sacrificing an ounce of style or stature. She’s unobtrusively given us a master class in how it’s done the last several months. ❤️
Style is what suits the wearer, age appropriate and fashionable to the era. Catherine looks fabulous in trouser suits with her height and willowy frame. QE2 short stature did not lend itself to the same fashion. IMO if it was set as royal protocol not to wear trousers, have bare legs, hats, or makeup colour taboos, those are antiquated and fuddy duddy 20th century rules.
The late Queen wouldn't wear a trousersuit not only because she didn't like them, but because she wouldn't have suited them. Hilary Clinton should have listened to reason on that subject too, she looked awful in them. Catherine wears a lot of trousers and trousersuits during her everyday engagements because they are appropriate, but she always wears hats, dresses and skirts for formal wear. True style.
@@marierex8490 99pc of women really should wear tights when they wear formal dress and any skirt in the winter months, it doesn't look good to be barelegged if you are going to a formal occasion or if you don't have perfect legs. The wearing of hats where appropriate is hopefully not going to be done away with, these things symbolise tradition and impeccable style. The other things you mention; yes it's a generational thing, but some things are going to be for good reason like the above. I do think though that there's a cultural clash that MM couldn't get over, or wouldn't. She just didn't understand as an American, European style. And we see it with the majority of clothes she wears, she hardly ever looks well dressed.
It's two people out riding, not a ballet. Riding in company is better than riding alone, since horses are more likely to spook or become uncomfortable without the presence of another horse. Of course those horses are trained to the nth degree to be quiet and obedient, and the training isn't done by Edward or Andrew.

The Duke of Edinburgh was never a typical dukedom; it was a special title given to the late holder and was not intended to be passed on. Apparently, the late Duke expressed the wish that his title be given to his son, Edward and an exception was made for that.
Before he retired Prince Phillip had spoken to Edward and Sophie to carry on his Duke of Edinburgh projects. And when Edward and Sophie married and he was awarded the Earl of Wessex and not a royal dukedom because he would inherit the Duke of Edinburgh title from his father.
and Sophie has never made any fuss about 6e title, for her or her children, although her husband is son of the Queen back then. she earns the Duchess of Edinburgh!

The United States Department of State and Department of Immigration and Custom Enforcement does not take into consideration the petty squabbles within a foreign monarchy when granting visa renewals. He will probably receive one because he is married to an American citizen.

The renovations to Frogmore were public funded on the premise both Harry and spouse would remain working royals. Harry decided to quit the job. The public had already spent a fortune on the quitters' wedding, feathering that nest any further could not be justified for a bird who flew the coop. The couple were required to reimburse. Effectively, they were charged back rent in reparation for spending public money to improve property the tenant did not own. The funds had been granted in expectation of services that the couple refused to perform. Seems fair to me. Only children can expect to live rent free.
Child development is a very crucial aspect to both international countries for normal milestone in children. She is minimising the trauma which has affected children and no one intervened the way princess of Wales has done it. She is going to live a legacy for many families who wants best results for their children. She is helping parents actually.

Prince Edward has worked within the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for many years now, I worked in the premises where The Duke of Edinburgh opened the first His D of E Award Scheme in Liverpool and was involved in preparing the premises for occupation by the Organisation and some general assistance to his staff. And during their time using those offices in our premises before it got too large to cope with all the staff etc and they moved to another not as busy part of Liverpool.lIt had been mentioned following a visit to our offices that Edward was expected to become Duke of Edinburgh and suceed his FAther with that Title. the number of years he has worked alongside the staff of thr D of E Award Scheme, he has in my opinion earned the award of the title.

I'm relieved that the visa/confirmed drug use issue is being discussed by the media and online groups. If you have ever lost everything at one time or another in your own history then you know what these people face so you will be able to empathize with them. I have lost everything once and i understand what they are facing it is not easy to get back behind your own front door and it is a fight to survive because people still look at you differently than they are that is a had lesson to learn, when you have nothing you are worth nothing in every ones eyes, oh its you own fault. you ended up on drugs and that became more important than your day to day life more than your family and more than the roof over your head or the food in your belly. unfortunately most of those people didn't they just didn't make enough money to live on no drugs no way to eat and keep a roof over your heads just not earning enough to support your family. these people need supporting no chastising. If we plant more trees the trees help filter our air that we breath you take away the trees we die very slowly but we will eventually die. We all waste so much energy wanting to be recognized as we or they and not enough on the things that really mater. Rewriting books because of black and white, rich or poor, stupid or intelligent, these are things that should be very low on the totem pole of life. Our environment and our planets survival should be the very top of the list saving the rain forests digging out land mines taking care of our animal populations saving species from being extinct there are thousands of animals on the endangered list with only a couple of hundred left in the whole world. Reducing our carbon footprint. Stop producing harmful emissions and taking care of our garbage by composing it ourselves where we can. to put peelings and food waste into a compost heap will help us to make more nutrient rich soil that we can use to grow new plants trees and make our planet safe again. Frogmore was leased to H&M to live in. It's been empty for the last 3 years.
If they lived there, at least 6 months of the year, it would make some sense in them keeping the lease.

While King Charles III has said the title of Duke of Edinburgh will not pass on to Edward's son, James, who is to say that that decision won't change just as Camilla's title, which was to be Princess Consort, has now been elevated to Queen Consort. She will be rightly crowned as Queen at the coronation. Edward and Sophie are said to be close to the Prince and Princess of Wales. This may be Charles' way of deferring any additional change by leaving it to PW so as not to look hypocritical. While I understand the need for a slimmed down monarchy, I don't think it should be done by not bestowing titles upon those doing the heavy lifting. If he really wants to slim down the monarchy, ask Parliament to strip H&M of their Duke and Duchess titles. They are doing nothing productive related to the RF with them. Why should they keep them? I would love to see the King put his foot down and boot them out of more than Frogmore Cottage. There behavior is disgraceful.

I think the comment by the viewer about Princess Anne stepping in with regards to the family problems was actually very insightful. I love Queen Camilla and think she is a great partner to King Charles, but it's so true that she is not in a position with the family to step into family relationships. I've often thought Princess Anne would be great at sorting Montecito duo out, and probably even Andrew. If the King hasn't already thought of getting Anne involved, I think he should! Princess Anne is, after all, now the matriarch of the family.

I find it rather poignant that the Prince of Wales visited Poland. We have a war in Europe. The invasion of Poland led to the declaration of another war - WWII. The kings grandfather was a staunch supporter of the british goverment during the war, and I think the late Queen's sense if duty was, at least partly, forged at during those years. Now is certainly a time for Europe to come together. As a norwegian whose king found refuge in the UK during the last war, it is during the hard times symbols like the RF really become important.
The Royals will always support each other but they usually don't get involved in the political sphere. It can bring them consequences later.

With all due respect to Queen Elizabeth II, and that is an enormous amount from me, it took a (relatively) young and newly conferred Princess of Wales, to FINALLY and FIRMLY establish women’s pantsuits as equally appropriate business attire as their skirt/dress-and-jacket cousins, along with trousers for more casual occasions, without sacrificing an ounce of style or stature. She’s unobtrusively given us a master class in how it’s done the last several months. ❤️
Style is what suits the wearer, age appropriate and fashionable to the era. Catherine looks fabulous in trouser suits with her height and willowy frame. QE2 short stature did not lend itself to the same fashion. IMO if it was set as royal protocol not to wear trousers, have bare legs, hats, or makeup colour taboos, those are antiquated and fuddy duddy 20th century rules.
The late Queen wouldn't wear a trousersuit not only because she didn't like them, but because she wouldn't have suited them. Hilary Clinton should have listened to reason on that subject too, she looked awful in them.
Catherine wears a lot of trousers and trousersuits during her everyday engagements because they are appropriate, but she always wears hats, dresses and skirts for formal wear. True style.
@@marierex8490 99pc of women really should wear tights when they wear formal dress and any skirt in the winter months, it doesn't look good to be barelegged if you are going to a formal occasion or if you don't have perfect legs. The wearing of hats where appropriate is hopefully not going to be done away with, these things symbolise tradition and impeccable style. The other things you mention; yes it's a generational thing, but some things are going to be for good reason like the above.
I do think though that there's a cultural clash that MM couldn't get over, or wouldn't. She just didn't understand as an American, European style. And we see it with the majority of clothes she wears, she hardly ever looks well dressed.

It's two people out riding, not a ballet. Riding in company is better than riding alone, since horses are more likely to spook or become uncomfortable without the presence of another horse. Of course those horses are trained to the nth degree to be quiet and obedient, and the training isn't done by Edward or Andrew.

The Duke of Edinburgh was never a typical dukedom; it was a special title given to the late holder and was not intended to be passed on. Apparently, the late Duke expressed the wish that his title be given to his son, Edward and an exception was made for that.

Speaking of Prince Edward; I have noticed how much as he is getting older he is starting to look more like his grandfather George VI, who took his role as spare far more seriously than the current 'spare'.
I think Prince Edward strongly resembles Queen Elizabeth when she was young.

While I believe PH should have his visa revoked, I doubt that will happen. Unfortunately, money and celebrity status count. Others have been denied renewal or entry for far less. Except for PH, the royal family supports each other. It is normal for some sibling rivalry when your older brother is King. But they love each other and will support each other. The United States Department of State and Department of Immigration and Custom Enforcement does not take into consideration the petty squabbles within a foreign monarchy when granting visa renewals. He will probably receive one because he is married to an American citizen.

HARRY HAS CREATED THE PROBLEMS CONCERNING HIS USA VISA. Harry is the confessed, boasting drug addict/abuser. The Federal guidelines for entry to the USA are quite clear. Being married to an American citizen and having an American born child do not preclude Harry from his visa being revoked. His status as a "Prince" might help him to stay in America. There are thousands of spouses ( married to USA citizens) deported or denied entry to the USA for less than what Harry has revealed about himself and if he perjured himself on US entry documents, then his situation is even more serious.

The queen did not give Frogmore to her grandson. She only gave him the right to live there. Ownership of the property never changed hands. Harry was no more than the legal tenant. The renovations to Frogmore were public funded on the premise both Harry and spouse would remain working royals. Harry decided to quit the job. The public had already spent a fortune on the quitters' wedding, feathering that nest any further could not be justified for a bird who flew the coop. The couple were required to reimburse. Effectively, they were charged back rent in reparation for spending public money to improve property the tenant did not own. The funds had been granted in expectation of services that the couple refused to perform. Seems fair to me. Only children can expect to live rent free.

I was delighted when Prince Edward was made the Duke Of Edinburgh (especially since he supported not only the monarchy and his mother in the later years of her life), but, how will the late Queen's husband Duke Of Edinburgh Award scheme move forward if Prince Edward's son assumes the title? Will the award be renamed as it was so closely tied to the monarchy?
It will be worked out over time no doubt, but As it’s not hereditary, it may well go to Louis, or even Charlotte for that matter.
I think Charles made a mistake in not making D of E hereditary. His idea of a slim monarchy does not equate with all the appearances to be done.

Prince Edward has worked within the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for many years now, I worked in the premises where The Duke of Edinburgh opened the first His D of E Award Scheme in Liverpool and was involved in preparing the premises for occupation by the Organisation and some general assistance to his staff. And during their time using those offices in our premises before it got too large to cope with all the staff etc and they moved to another not as busy part of Liverpool.lIt had been mentioned following a visit to our offices that Edward was expected to become Duke of Edinburgh and suceed his FAther with that Title. the number of years he has worked alongside the staff of thr D of E Award Scheme, he has in my opinion earned the award of the title.

I'm relieved that the visa/confirmed drug use issue is being discussed by the media and online groups. I hope that the issue does not simply get sidelined because it is glaringly obvious that SOMETHING is not correct here. Either he LIED on his visa application OR 'special consideration' was given by US Immigration officials to allow him entry and residency. How does that work in a democratic society, without a constitutional monarchy, like the United States of America ? How does it work ... in any country ?

I am so happy for Edward and Sophie I would like to see more of them in the front line as it were, they have both not really put a foot wrong in representing the institution and they are great ambassadors for the UK and indeed for the Royal Family. Unfortunately there are going to be people who don't care if the story is true or false that its always going to be hanging over his head for the foreseeable future for Prince Andrew. His siblings out riding with Andrew is saying i believe what Andrew said, he is still my brother and always will be. As for Prince Harry and the troglodyte he married i think he should get kicked out of the USA, Anyone promoting the use of Drugs has to have a few bolts loose in my opinion. Leave the things that are not important alone let us focus on the things that mater like world hunger and how are we going to make enough money to survive till next payday which the majority of the world is doing right now. Everything has increased in price by at minimum of 20% the price of fuel has gone up to almost double in the last 6 months alone and rents are going up unless you have a great landlord who understands the situation and all the children who are starving. the worlds economy has gone haywire and you are worried about how you wish to be recognized Please do us all a favour stop talking. Maybe governments can put a cap on things so as people can do what they have to to survive this economy or more people are going to be homeless more people will be on the streets. If you have ever lost everything at one time or another in your own history then you know what these people face so you will be able to empathize with them. I have lost everything once and i understand what they are facing it is not easy to get back behind your own front door and it is a fight to survive because people still look at you differently than they are that is a had lesson to learn, when you have nothing you are worth nothing in every ones eyes, oh its you own fault. you ended up on drugs and that became more important than your day to day life more than your family and more than the roof over your head or the food in your belly. unfortunately most of those people didn't they just didn't make enough money to live on no drugs no way to eat and keep a roof over your heads just not earning enough to support your family. these people need supporting no chastising. They need guidance not condemnation. The people who are on drugs those who want to quit and live a normal life again need help, not only to come off the drugs but for their emotional well being, those who don't want to quit need to know that help will be there for them when they do. this is how we save our planet this is how we save each other. to save our animal species on this planet we need to learn more about them and stop taking away land that they need more than we do. saving our planet from pollution and degradation, Lower our Carbon footprint around the world single out the chemicals and stop using them that are taking away the Planets ozone layer learn to go without things instead of expecting it always to be there. the way we are over fishing our oceans and dumping garbage in our oceans there will soon be no oceans the way we use fossil fuels can be stopped because the fuels that are not polluting our atmosphere will be gone stop cutting down forests and learn to live with the forests around us. Plant trees where there aren't any and help mother nature to help herself. If we plant more trees the trees help filter our air that we breath you take away the trees we die very slowly but we will eventually die. We all waste so much energy wanting to be recognized as we or they and not enough on the things that really mater. Rewriting books because of black and white, rich or poor, stupid or intelligent, these are things that should be very low on the totem pole of life. Our environment and our planets survival should be the very top of the list saving the rain forests digging out land mines taking care of our animal populations saving species from being extinct there are thousands of animals on the endangered list with only a couple of hundred left in the whole world. Reducing our carbon footprint. Stop producing harmful emissions and taking care of our garbage by composing it ourselves where we can. to put peelings and food waste into a compost heap will help us to make more nutrient rich soil that we can use to grow new plants trees and make our planet safe again. Please stop giving Prince Harry the time he is demanding he isn't important enough anymore. He has made his bed let him lay in it. revoke or don't revoke but stop talking about it. He she they we them all not important people are people end of discussion. There are more important maters need addressing so let us focus on that.
