“We have to be patient and persevere…Of course we will fail, but we must continue on trying”…Just what I needed to hear and be reminded of today. Many thanks questioners and of course, Michael James.
Please Michael, I think with all due respect, that you are not seeing “this dream” the way that it is. And I saw “this dream” similar to you. As I realize now, that this ego has latched onto our purity. It is an”evil demon” (as Ramana said). And there are evils in “this dream” that you (or I) cannot fathom.
Shankaras are not the same as vasanas. Every action we perform leaves an impression in mind and this is what is called shankara, unless the doer has been erased because in this case performed actions don´t leave any trace in mind. When an action is repeated, the shankara becomes a vasana or tendency. We can´t do anything about shankaras but we can overcome vasanas by being aware of them since they are these tendencies what come in the way of abiding in the self permanently and what triggers currents of thoughts we get entangled with. They are different words naming different things and it is important to understand this difference, so that subtleness of the original teaching can be preserved.
5:13 samskara = inclination ie volitional tendencies. Samskara and vasana are not same Inclination is more appropriate word intead of tendency. 8:30 Chittam here means will. Some books mean memby children Manas=grosser functions of mind .includes all. 11:17
When I believe the ego to be a real thing that exist already, I am appears to be trapped in a body. All of the actions I see happening here not in reality. Nothing moves in reality. II is the only reality, nothing other is real. Thinking I am able to do actions is falsely imagining reality. cx
1:12:05 Love to be what I actually am. What actually thinks? The self is formless. And Ego is a formless phantom. If ego is the first thought to rise Then what forms are there available for ego to grasp on too? Who’s form appears ? And who sees it? cx
1:15:07 If you fall in a river. Instead of trying to swim, do nothing. Do not make an effort, to go with or against the current. All effort will make one tired. Just focus, being present with the water. Do nothing, let the river do its thing. Just float and drift gently with the water as it leads i into the ocean Self attentiveness is doing nothing other than focusing on only oneself. cx
If I identify as ego, then i is the false ego. Only here in this false reality does the I have a separate existence. 1:41:49 sleep is an experience of the body. Only ever experienced in the dream reality of I am. Oneself never sleep. cx
