- Today we have a 200$ GPU that was released over 5 years ago, the flagship RTX 2080 Ti Asus RoG Strix OC with 11GB of VRAM.
Everybody considers it "One of Nvidia's biggest mistakes", let's see if they are actually right and if it is a good value card in 2024 too!

Man if only Devs and Publishers made an effort to optimize games properly especially triple A games, cards from 2-3 generations would be even better minus new features I guess
This is absolutely facts! The performance difference compared to new cards in older titles (which are properly optimized) is MUCH smaller. On the Witcher 3 I managed to beat a RTX 3080 with the graphene cooled 2080 Ti
This is the only guy who's voice matches his face on youtube lol
I take it as a compliment, a weird one but still a compliment😂✌️ thankyou!
Great video! I have a EVGA 2080 Ti Black Edition. It runs really hot like 80°+ full load so. I am waiting on a water block from EK, that I bought second hand. Hopefully will cool down a bit!
Not thinking of updating any time soon.
Really great video!
That 2080 Ti has a VERY good PCB. By putting it under water you’ll be able to OC it a fair bit more, other than fix your temperature and get less noise. You’re in for a massive upgrade my man, keep it up :)
@@ImWateringPSUs thanks for the video bro! I will try to oc it! If I can get to 3070-3080 level I'm happy.
I got a question about my GPU, why is that when I don't have a gpu sag bracket installed my GPU artifacts and black screens, it's a msi 3080 gaming x trio
too heavy and the is probably barely making contact with the pcie slot so keep it installed
@@tomomei and the tab on my dark hero vii keeps popping off for the pcie slot
@@bray527 its 100% the weight then either leave the sag bracket on or try to find a replacement tab or a replacement motherboard
Yup, the guy who commented before got it 100% right. Also tighten the screws to the case can help! It’s a pcie contact issue :)
I was looking into getting a 4070 super, as current i got a 2070super. From searching around what i understand is more vram now helps a lot, as many games are not that well optimised and end up using a lot of vram. What do you think regarding this, as the 2080ti does have lower ram than a 2070super. Should i still consider the 2080ti although it has lower vram
The RTX 4070 Super has 12GB of VRAM, whereas the RTX 2080 Ti has 11GB. 1GB of extra VRAM is gonna make 0 difference :)
@@ImWateringPSUs Thanks! Any suggestions on what to look out for when purchasing used cards?
@@chadi3295 buy a 4070 super it will have more support over time as it is a new card it consumes much less than a 2080 ti, the 2000 series does not support the resizeble bar, and it certainly doesn't work better than a 3080/4070. maybe he brought it to us with an extreme overclock in a game that was perhaps not stable, something you don't do on a daily basis. if it were that easy everyone would go and buy the older cards (even if they were still valid)
So I was going to buy either 6700xt or 6750xt but then I saw 2080ti benchmarks and thought of getting it but the temp got me scared . I can not spend money on custom cooler so what advice would you give .
In 2022, I changed my GTX 1060 6gb for a RTX 2080ti 11gb, last month I installed a AIO GPU water cooling and it works amazing at 4k 60 fps on ultra, i really recommend this GPU if u cant afford the series 30 or 40
im still using a 2080ti blower from palit and its overclocked to 2050mhz on the gpu chip and it runs so well
Ahahaha on a blower cooler too! That’s great to hear :) Acceleros and Morpheus kit will work on that card tho, if you want :)
@@ImWateringPSUs yea i bought a whole water cooling kit for it but i think the card is on its way out since ive had to set it to its base clock again now, it seems to like to kill its display drivers if over clocked :(
same thing happened to me.... I have now the 3070, and regret selling my 2080ti.... 😢
I really feel you my man😓 it’s all due to launch reviews being a bit biased & marketing really
If you don't want to use DLSS 3.0 / play only games that don't have it / habe fsr it's a great card
Agreed! To be fair though, with FSR and other ways around it, you can get frame gen even on older cards. I could make a dedicated video about it! :)
@@ImWateringPSUs the new Loseless scaling app makes these gpus even better
Now every game has a feature like Frame gen with the New Lose less Scaling app on steam
I was able to buy a 3090 with non functioning fans for 450. Got replacement fans and yea its been working great for 4 months now. 3090 and 7800x3d is such a nice combo so far.
Used, older gen GPUs for the win my man, great buy & great pairing!
I own 4 2080ti’s at this point. All of them have been through varying degrees of “responsible” abuse. Either mining or XOC and gaming. 2 cards have Micron memory and 2 cards have Samsung memory, all of them are water blocked. All of them still work like day 1 knock on wood haven’t had to send any of them to Northwest repair yet. The Samsung cards can be overclocked a lot further than the micron cards and are now both being still used in one of my machines and 1 in my 7yo daughters machine while the micron cards are pretty much retired at this point. 2080ti can still push my 1440p 49” ultrawide nicely and personally I can’t justify buying a newer card at this time.
Man this is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for! Great choice on owning four and yes, definitely agree on the performance difference depending on the memory type. I game at 3440x1440p too!
Bought second hand low usage for a great price in 2021 and in 2023 decided to send to Fnac labs for maintenance. It did 1k + in memory and scored 6k in 8k superposition. FedEx destroyed half my pc during transport and fnac wanted to replace with a 3070ti, i showed my benchmarks and scored a brand new 4070ti tuf oc that did stock 6300k points in 8k superposition, I oc tuf now does 7250k points. So yes, the 2080ti beat my expections in three years of gaming and oc a msi 2080ti x trio, and to this day has the best spec gpu I’ve ever owned from upgrading sli flagship gpus from 2012-2023.
Woah that’s some great customer support/warranty tbh🙂↕️ Sorry about the PC but yup I 100% agree with you and am glad it worked out in the end!
Should I upgrade from a GTX 1650 if I'm going to save up for a year for it? 2080 ti has been my longest dream video card since 2018 from watching those stickman gamer videos
1650 is good for esports but for AAA is dog poop
@@seizonsha i never play AAA anyway
Why only test esports titles? this was a cool interesting video but if i were looking for a 2080 ti in 2024 it would be useless for someone like me who mainly plays the big single player rpgs and action games, vr, and mmos because they are optimized differently than esports games designed to run hardware from 2009 comfortably.
trinity gave me a 10 million dollar painting so how much is my pc worth
Wait what
I have the msi gaming x trio 2080 ti and will keep it as long as possible
The Gaming X Trio was an absolute BEAST of a custom model! I had one too :)
Still running my 2080ti FE, still going strong at 1440 :)
My man!
its still a great card today.. but as long as the devs wont have enough money to optimize games we can continue buying more powered GPUs for no reason :(
Very true, but I think that the RTX 2080 Ti is still modern enough where it doesn’t suffer from this as much as other cards which I’ve re-reviewed (like the GTX 1080). Still, if the drivers were done equally, the gap between a RTX 2080 Ti and a RTX 4070 would be reaaaally tiny imho :)
I have two galax oc lab edition 2080ti I need to sell them
MAN if you were in Italy I’d buy them both for the right price
with development in mind
🫣
I had one back in 2019 I believe. It used to cost so much I thought but now Nvidia is like, "$1200? That's just the regular 80 class now. We want $2000 now for the best Geforce card."
Yeahhh they seemed so expensive to me too back then😂
Basically all i heard was keep saving up for a 5k flagship your 1080ti is good enough lol.
Lol I wouldn’t recommend buying a 5k flagship either tbh. I’d say buy a RTX 4090 used for 500 bucks when the 5k flagship comes out :p

Asus Strix RTX 2080 Ti Memory Upgrade from 11GB to 22GB
Best part? you can upgrade the vram on it too 🤣
Man I’ve seen it AHAHAA. I knew you could do it because it has been a thing for a while, remember they made GTX 780 with 6GB too and I’ve seen GTX 980 Tis with 12! On the 2080 Ti VRAM really isn’t an issue, but it’s really cool to know for the future
@@ImWateringPSUslol yeah! One thing is for sure though, nvidia isn’t going to like this guy 😂😂😂
@@Darth-TBAG this kind of stuff is better used in examples like rtx3070 to upgrade it to 16gb
Not if you want to skip out on DLSS 3. It's one of my favorite features.
You can run FSR on a RTX 2080 Ti perfectly fine, getting the same performance as you would with DLSS 👀 it’s a new thing, Tech YES City just made a video about it
lose Scaling app allows dlss 3 magic on every gpu and any game
@@ImWateringPSUs With how close I sit to the monitor, I can see the difference of the clarity between FSR and DLSS. So that's just my personal preference!
@@Willow-213I guess it depends on the game and the resolution , the games I play, using Lose less Scaling app on steam I cant see a difference, when I set my game resolution to 4k , but at 1080p it is noticeable
Many GPU repairers advise against the RTX 2080 Ti (or any of the 20 series for that matter) most models come with Early revisions of Micron memory which are starting to fail at a rapid rate in specifically RTX 20 series cards. It’s quite a difficult repair as you can imagine. And these issues are not from mining, it’s a fault in the memory that causes it to degrade no matter of the type of work done on it.
I’ve heard about it, however I do deal with a LOT of GPUs and I haven’t seen an abnormal failure rate on RTX 2000 series cards. But yeah, I’d say if possible buy one with Samsung or Hynix memory chips😂
Is this dude high? He’s saying 2080ti is better than rtx 4070?
I am saying it indeed and explaining why, have you seen the video?
The only better thing is that 2080's value, otherwise there is not a single type of digit/performance/whatever you call it better than 4070
Well, if you overclock it with a good enough cooling setup you do beat a RTX 4070. On air you reach it. With a cheap custom loop you beat it :)
17 billion premuim support
What do
You mean
It still is a good card in 2024
for 1080p still enough for 200€, 250€ it's a good buy, the 4070 has more 20% efficiency in 1080p, 1440p depends on the game, it's a fair fight.
Yay, but at least in Europe the price for a RTX 4070 is so much higher that it’s not even a comparison imho. Also if properly undervolted (supposing you’re comparing it against a stock 4070 ofc) the efficiency is veery close. Then if you undervolt the 4070 too there’s no efficiency comparison obviously
bro what rtx 4070 is a lot better then 2080 ti
Have you watched the video?😭
@@ImWateringPSUs the first 30 seconds
Yeah better than a RTX 4070 until it turn your room into a fucking oven in the summer
This is actually a fair point. But won’t be the case if you have a watercooled setup or a really beefy cooler!
