I have this buffer and two others. This model is small, but more powerful than I'd thought. Works very well, and it's quiet with low vibration.

I wasn't expecting much different results from what I previously used but I was definitely impressed. It's great

This looks similar to the Buffer machines used by NFL equipment managers to prep footballs for games. They just attach short soft and stiffer long brushes on Left and Right sides.

Very nice vid. Excellent description and review. The carb you did with the drill press pads looks practically like chrome. I purchased the same model HF as you. Haven't used it yet. Trying to figure out how to make a quick on, quick off mounting system on the workbench so it won't be in the way when not in use.

I'm thinking of getting one, and was also thinking about just using a small bar clamp or two to clamp it to one of my workbenches or B&D Workmate instead of mounting with bolts... have you figured it out yet ?

The picture on the box contradicts the instructions on where the spacers go. Leave it to harbor freight.

I never noticed. don't think i got any instructions with mine but i do like the spacer closer to the motor and in fact i added more spacers because it gives a little more room for other wheels like a scotch bright type wheel that gets wore down with usage.

What do you recommend for brass? Some dumb dumb tried to polish my brass trumpet and used a Dremel polishing wheel and flitz and it worked, but it left swirl marks, can u help?

Haha yeah sorry. I did this video in between doing some powder coating and that noise is a 240 volt contactor for my oven.

@@wyrtap5138 You should replace that contractor with a Solid State Relay no more clacking. What are the brown and black bars you used on the buffing cloths? Thanks, Mark

could you sand it with 800 and work your way up to 2500 then buff and polish that thing to get those scratches out?

    • @HitLeftistsWithHammers
      @HitLeftistsWithHammers 3 роки тому +2

Always work through the grits to get scratches out, unless you've got some nice high cut wheels and compounds. Menzerna has some that leave a mirror after just 4-600 grit

Sorry I didn't see this sooner lol. That is actually my powder coat oven I made. I built a timer circuit that pulls in a contactor for 30 seconds on and 20 seconds off. Not sure of exact timing I haven't used it in a while. Anyways, the timer is to keep the heat element from overheating since it is designed to have air blowing over it. No air circulation in the oven. The timer is a very efficient way to maintain the heat inside. I guess i got used to hearing it because sometimes it wouldn't even register that it is on while I'm recording something and people have pointed it out in other videos

Does anyone know what the nut size is that holds the buffing pads on this buffer? I lost mine and need to replace them. The instructions say "M12" but it doesn't say the threads per inch.

    • @michaelvanbuskirk8845

@wyrtap5138 Thanks but I think I found out. Mine is the older #94393 item number so it takes 1/2"-12 nuts which is odd as most are 1/2"-13 at Home Depot and such. I had to order four from Amazon to get them. If I want to use the other side, which I don't need at the moment, I will need to order some 1/2"-12 left handed thread as well.

My friend please be careful with that high RPM.. I'm actually using a 1100 rpm washing machine motor w/clutch works perfect.. Kinda old school but sooner or later you have some shavings fly .. PEACE !!

Run it without the wheels and washers. If it still has vibrations return it the shafts are off balanced then.

What’s that mean? Saw he used the polishing bars on the buffing wheel….I’m looking at the buffer myself to do the same type of work on a dirt bike.
