It’s such a shame the BBC didn’t recommission this series. Peter is a supreme, unique talent, and his supporting cast are also fantastic. Particularly Alex Lowe, better known as Barry From Watford and more recently Clinton Baptiste. This series and the Look Around You shows deserved greater recognition. Enjoyed watching this with you, Noah.
Peter Serafinowicz is tragically underrated and under exposed on TV. His impressions are very good and his original characters are great! Check out the Brian Butterfield Diet Plan - 2:30 long but hilarious!
Not long before this series was broadcast there was an advertising campaign for legal services on British TV, which featured an actor remarkably like the Butterfield character!
Yes please, do some more! I've re-watched this series quite a few times over the years, and I was still spitting my tea out with laughter at your reaction!
I'd never seen this before. What a tremendous mixture of brilliant impressions, incisive but odd satire and bizarre lunacy that just makes you chuckle out of pure confusion. 🤣 Yeah do some more for sure!
I'm so glad you're reviewing Peter Serafinowicz. His BBC shows were brief, but so entertaining. Some of his impressions were spot on, and his eye for detail in some of his sketches are brilliant. There's more Magazine adverts, more Chat Line adverts, and even Internet Ham and Dickens Fruit Corner adverts. He also does a brilliant swearing version of Laurel & Hardy. I think you'll really enjoy the rest of this series. Cheers Noah. 🍺
I watched this when it originally aired. Disappointed it never got a second series So many sketch shows never hit the mark, but this was genuinely funny
I never saw this at the time because I think it was on cable (NTL, remember that?) channel about three million and nine. I only watched on UA-cam years later. The best sketch for me has to be the Brian Butterfield Diet Plan.
Iirc for some reason the BBC put this on BBC2 on a Sunday night, so hardly anyone saw it, or maybe I’m thinking of the equally funny Kevin Eldon show, “It’s Kevin”. I’ve watched kitchen gun many many times,
@@williamg209two eh? I’ve watched kitchen gun loads because I remembered it from when it was on the tv show that I watched at the time and needed to share as I just love it, I quite often shout “I love you kitchen gun” randomly ….Btw I checked, the Serafinowicz show was apparently shown on a Thursday, but an equally odd day tbh. I also share Kevin Eldon’s brilliant Sex Pistols word for word Grundy interview parody, is that’s cos it’s popular too?
@@williamg209two think we’re at cross purposes, I was talking about the first run which I thought was on a Sunday, but I was thinking of Kevin Eldon’s sketch show because it was similarly weird and Peter Serefinowicz was in it, sorry.
Brilliant - The Jewelry selling sketch is my favourite of all time. Wish he'd changed his name to Smith, so I could recommend him without scratching my head trying to remember. It's got to be harder to talk about the seriously funny guy you saw on TV last night when you can't tell anyone who he was without having it written down.
This is actually at least the fifth TV series featuring Peter Serafinowicz you've reacted to as he was also in the first episode of Spaced and was the voice of the new emergency number advert in the second episode of The IT Crowd.
IIRC the show only ran for 1 season with 2 specials, maybe 1 special. It didn't go further not because of the ratings I think I read somewhere it was because of commitments to Movies. He was doing Guardian's or some other huge movie.
If the actress who appeared in a lot of the sketches looked familiar, she was in the dinner party episode of the IT Crowd (she was the socially awkward woman who hooked up with Richmond).
Stevie was based on a Big Brother housemate at the time called Mikey who was incredibly dull. This was around the height of Big Brother's popularity I think, around series 7.

@@AndrewHalliwell He's already done Look Around You, should do some more. The Tomorrow's World episodes weren't as good but still magnificent compared to 99% of the crap on TV.
You should see one of his Christmas specials from a few years ago. I think this is the link ua-cam.com/video/5KpGVXI-IUI/v-deo.html. This one was 40 minutes long, and I think even funnier than this episode. You might have to know who Terry Wogan was for parts of it tho.
Never seen you choke on your water before. XD Derick Bum's Kitchen Gun (A Cillit Bang ad parody, yes that's what they actually named it) was one of those rare comedy moments that really embedded itself in the public psyche to this day. Everyone of a certain age knows about it even if they've never seen the show. It's also had the amazing phenomenon of spawning a whole load of remixes including this one which is 12 minutes of jaw-dropping talent. It's really too much and just came out of nowhere! ua-cam.com/video/tcjCfJbYAzg/v-deo.html

It's a very underrated show, bit of a forgotten gem. The Butterfield sketches are incredible!
Increbidle
I was thinking just yesterday about why there aren't more reactions to the Peter Serafinowicz show. The Brian Butterfield character is hilarious.
Brilliant series. Would very much like to see a reaction to them all.
5:45 That's Sarah Alexander. Peter's wife. She also played the medieval queen in the cowboy episode of Red dwarf.
She was also Dr. Angela Hunter in Green Wing.

Creators in the UK tend to move on, after 1-2 short series, unlike Americans, who will milk them as long as the cow's still standing.
21:34 "Michael Caine" sounds just like Sean Lock. RIP ❤
Glad you enjoyed it. Really underrated show.
The BBC thought they would get big reviews on the back of Serafinowicz's voicing Darth Maul in Phantom Menace... But they did wait some 8 years.
I really liked this I want to see more please do more. Can’t stop laughing

I have to admit I didn't really find a lot of this particularly funny, but I'm so glad I learnt about Kitchen Gun!
Noah Taffe can play my fingers any day.
The Michael Caine acting class sketches were a very accurate take-off of an Acting Masterclass series that Caine did for the BBC in the late 1980s.
Loved this show, not sure why it had such a short run. Maybe it was because he got The Tick? That Alan Alfa was spot-on.
