The perfect Chinese drama: A girl gets choked to death because she is so ugly and then comes back as a ghost, but she can't communicate with her love interest (who is the one who choked her), because she is a ghost. 20 episodes later she's randomly alive again and meets her love interest, who dies from the shock of having to see her intense ugliness again. So she sacrifices herself to revive him, but since that doesn't make any sense, she just dies again. So everyone is dead. The end. 🌙
Heyo Marisa here, I tried to send this in a private message cuz it's so silly and a bit embarrassing for me but since it's impossible to reach out on Discord, I decided to drop it here (Lengthy Message Warning) Good afternoon/evening wherever you are, Aitherea! I hope you're having an amazing day so far ♡ I apologize for the random message but it's been long overdue on my part. I've been meaning to thank you for pumping up all the incredibly high quality, fun, entertaining and enlightening XIV content! ✨️ There may be days where you feel low on energy, motivation or you simply feel like you're not doing good enough but trust me when I say that you're doing an amazing job and that you have made thousands of people's days just with your videos 🤍 In my experience, every upload has made my day and every time I see a new video release, I get giddy and happy as if I've gotten my first xmas present (silly, I know) I mustered up the courage to say all of this today cuz I watched this video and I'm someone who watches Cdrama (and all sorts of drama) so suffice it to say that video title was enough to hook me in...But it wasn't that that gave me the courage to join your server and to reach out to you today. What gave me the push was the way you express yourself and the way you narrate your points of view Something that sets you apart from every other Content Creator that I follow is that watching your videos feels like having a chit chat with a very close friend I know you're not talking to me directly but it feels as if you are engaging with me on the topic. I often find myself nodding to what you say which is insane cuz I rarely ever feel this engaged while watching other CCs But yeah I found a friend in you. Someone who gets me even though we never ever talked before and I think that's an amazing talent you've got there Being able to touch people's hearts and to make them resonate with you is something that not many people have and you, Aitherea, are blessed with it ✨️ I yapped long enough but basically my message is an Aitherea appreciation one. I hope that you realize how amazing you are as a person and as a Content Creator and that all the efforts you've been putting in is bearing fruits ♡
Thank you so much for this message, it's so incredibly sweet! Like, the kind of thing to save and look at if I'm ever feeling down! xD I've kept my dms closed to people I don't know/am not close with just for my own privacy and safety, so I'm sorry i couldnt accept your invite! There's a lot of lovely people in the discord so feel free to come and chat any time c: Thank you again for the heartfelt message!!
I have watched a few K-dramas and never a C-drama but I really dont care, because I just like listening to you talking about something you are passionate about 😅🌙
Never seen a Chinese drama in my life, seen plenty of western dramas though. Honestly the great algorithm put this on while I was grinding away at Throne and Liberty and it was interesting to listen to lol 🌙
🌙 i haven't watched any cdramas but i love kdramas!! also honestly i can relate to you talking about being tired of ffxiv, i've felt the same especially bc of my tendency to burnout if i play/watch too much of something hahah
yeah i hate ugly trope because they make a fairly pale girl and putting darker makeup on and saying "yeah thats ugly". this is a big problem in asian culture in general that i hate coz it makes people think their natural skin color is ugly
🌕 I really enjoyed this change of pace video. Thanks also for the suggestions. Hopefully I'll find somewhere to watch those here in 🇨🇦. The last time you suggested a show to watch, I really enjoyed it.
They should all be on Viki. I assume it's not blocked in CA. I know Fairy and Devil was on netflix for a while, but i don't have it anymore and i know sometimes netflix does weird regional stuff xDD
@@idno4856 yep its a legit streaming platform that specializes in asian media. There's a ton of free stuff available to watch, but they also have shows only available with a subscription. Based on their platform model, theyd be losing money if they weren't available in as many countries as possible c:
🌘 I have only watched a few kdramas in the past but haven't in a while. They're okay, just not really my thing, for th most part. I'd say if I had to recommend anything it would be Arcane. If anyone hasn't seen it, it's so good. The second season is coming out in November, I think, so that'll be good. I wanted to talk about writing and stuff but I haven't seen the shows so I can't comment on the quality of their writing. I will be an english writing major in the future though so I do know a decent amount about writing.
I watched and liked Eternal Love, Handsome Siblings and I'm a big fan of MXTX so I liked The Untamed. One thing that my friend and I found really funny tho about Eternal Love was that in the course of the 3 reincarnations of the characters like 10,000 years pass in the story but every time they go to the human world it's still middle ages China and the same tavern is in business. We're just like "enough time has passed to go from cavemen to space flight but humanity does not progress at all"
I saw Eternal Love forever ago but do not remember it at all xD But that is SO true xD. Its even better when theyre like "a month passes in the human world and its been an hour in our world." Which means that in most cases, the next time they go down to the human world, humans should be modern or straight up star wars advanced xD
🌒 I do like to waatch K Dramas especially but i have too problems with the almost always present and never criticized sexism. So now I do chose what I watch with extrem care. But i did find some dramas that i reaaaally loved with strong female leads. (That are not here to be saved by a man, or initially injured by him, or that are only here to be pretty or caring or whatever, etc..) There are even really badass female leads. And that's so refreshing ! And with still really beautiful love stories. And I want really bbaadly to love c dramas as much but as far as i've watched it's been way too sexist for me to enjoy sadly. Maybe I'll try the ones you advised. Thank you for that. ^^ 🌘
I can see how it comes across that way. I feel like theyre trying to do a "bad boy" or almost like enemies to lovers or tsundere kind of trope with a lot of these cdramas, but esp from a Western pov it just comes across as abusive. The Starry Love is probably your best bet for the Cdramas i recommended because no one tries to choke their GF in that one nor do they ever cause them bodily harm. The other two would probably be iffy for you because they still do have some of those themes of like, injuring the girl at some point in the show LOL.
I don't really have any interest in watching C-dramas, but I like hearing your takes and just talking about anything! There are some odd tropes out there, but choking the female lead might be one of the weirdest I've heard of. 🌙
theyre so binge watchable, but mainly the love stories cant be beat xD in general theyre just really cute and a lot of them have really compelling stories despite it all!
I don't think it's as prevelant today but in Asian culture paler skin is seen as more attractive because Tanner skin means you are of a lower working class. So think of it as Cinderella without her fairy god mothers magic looks like a common house maiden. It doesn't necessarily need to mean ugly ugly. The Average Woman to me is attractive but I'm a guy so I'm bias 🤔- but in a cultural stand point that's what that means. :)
It's the same in Europe, royals were called "blue blood", because their skin was so pale from never getting tan, that the veins were much more visible. If you don't have to work outside in the field like a peasant, your skin will be much lighter, so if your skin is very light, you must be pretty powerful.
You beat me to the explanation haha If she's watching "historical" or "period" dramas especially, this is kinda to be expected. Some of her other issues are possibly down to mistranslations or localisation.
as a southeast asian (who are typically darker skinned compared to other asian races) woman, i can tell you that it is absolutely still prevalent today. people still aim for the beauty standard of achieving lighter skin, and people still get discriminated for having darker skin. it might not be as spelled out or as obvious as it's just so ingrained into culture, but it's still very much there.
I know Dramas all have the same pictures but all your favorites all looking the exact same had me laughing. Not sure if this is exactly a Drama genre but I find a lot of my favorite Dramas are when a girl is drunk and sleeps with someone accidentally (boss or long lost friend or something) then they both have to navigate that hilarious misunderstanding.
I love k,c and j drama. I have been watching them for years. I do not watch the genre you watch though. I like the more romantic, mystery type one. In most of them they do that same type of thing. I notice in c dramas the most. The darker skin thing. Everything you said ive noticed too and its annoying for sure. Ive gotten so used to it that i do not even notice it anymore lol.
I would like to say if only us the U.S and China would just stop the war stupidity and focus on more cultural sharing we would see more awesome things my opinion.
3:40 - she looks prettier/hotter with darker skin. I don't get it. I've noticed it elsewere, a really pretty lady whitens her skin to "appear pretty" but she just starts looking like a pale husk... ...
Someone explained it already, but especially in the past, darker skin was associated with the peasant class that worked too long under the sun. It was like that in Europe too back in the day
