Since I am preparing for jee, the teacher told that it is called cinnamic acid and it is found in cinnamon, and maybe this was asked in NEET some year.. But it really gets sweet when we see the actual compound in life.. I mean the only salt we have seen in kitchen is NaCl and NaHCO3(baking soda)..

And it becomes too complicated to concentrate and perform in that condition..... That will not give proper tests as the compound is not yet soluble in the solvent used i.e water . So it is required to form o.s first (clear solution) which in this case is formed on heating only because the compound contains unsaturation.
Ma'am I have one doubt , while heating the organic compounds , are we not going to use water bath ? Like in tollens test & fehlings test we are using water bath .
This is also solid and inorganic samples are also solid. So how will I understand whether to perform tests for organic or inorganic samples during practical exam ? Please help. I have my practical tomorrow
