These anti-Land Rover jokes are so old. I drove a Defender P400e and a Toyota Prado in Iceland and guess what the only vehicle out of the two gave me issues? The Toyota Prado constantly had a blown fuse. At first, it was after a 2.5 feet river crossing which the Defender had no issues with. Then the 2nd blown fuse happened on the Prado because they claim there was still moisture in the engine bay. Then the 3rd blown fuse happened because it rained too hard. This all happened within a 2 week period. I'm not saying one brand is more dependable over the other but people literally have ZERO experience with modern Land Rover and these outdated jokes continue to hold for no proven reasons. People will say "but I have a friend that...". Absolute nonsense.
@@chifineart"afford a Toyota" clearly you don't know how much land cruisers cost and the residual values they keep. The best modern land Rover was the d3 2005 and 2009 models when ford owned them and they switched to jag engines. That being said ive owned more land rovers than Toyotas and they were heavily discounted and even then if you drive them into hella high mileage and retirement , which meant head gaskets at 70k miles and countless leaks sealed as general maintenance, you'd still be paying ridiculous tax just for the privilege to drive one which I must say is something else, but they're just a pita, the majority of mine had to be purchased second had with impeccable maintenance records low miles and weak book value just to have had the gauntlet of recall worthy shit out of the way before taking on the risk of driving one outside warranty. Misaligned Oil pumps with catastrophic consequences, timing chains later in the d4, cylinder sleeves failing, again catastrophic consequences, prop shafts going and punching holes in transmission, failing rear diff carriers, air suspension pumps, 3 amigos brake booster etc etc failure. I've owned navy luxury vehicles and if I ever owned a new one I could easily bet the house on it being the worst ownership experience even under warranty and I've had many and I don't care how many loaners and upgrades and discounts on future dealership rapes you get, this is by far the service department and revenue generator. A Toyota with no maintenance for 50k stands a better chance against anything any model suffers from land Rover. Btw a prado isn't Toyotas heavy duty vehicle it's softened up all around for a different demographic but still far more reliable than land rover that's worth more to part out to owners who don't mind the labor of love and high prices their parts demand for such a rapidly depreciating vehicle that's more suited to frivolous leases by soccer moms. It's the MacBook pro of vehicles, failures ignored by corporate for service money upside to dealers, weak residual values easy trade in debt rollers and when they do get around to claiming defects they've already sold 3x amount of increasingly expensive and more rare extended warranties (apple care scam) which mind you have record numbers of denied claims due to the likelihood of failure being so high.

Defender is a city car. Not an tourer or offroader. This info can save your life.
The fact you need diagnostic equipment to replace a battery is insane...
