so cool me and a couple of buddy's of mine were up stevens pass one night we were having a few beers and me being a train fan have the perfect spot anyways there was no trains for a long time and it was pitch black out Just the river and breez blowing thru the trees and all sudden the whole mountain side was lighting up and few minutes later one of the grinders came thru man turned the night into day it was so cool and of course my buddy's did not care.
I've seen the aftermath of this with hundreds of feet of wire from battered head plus huge grinding debris clods. The wire looked dangerous as it could ball up. Sharp stuff.
Saw the short one doing the Lake Weir Ave crossing up here in Ocala, one night when I was coming home from work in the middle of the night. Quite a thrill, didn't think I'd ever get to see that thing!

Actually the smaller grinder is a RGS Specialty rail grinder used for grinding switches and crossing etc but the 400 series design came from them
I remember years ago the first time I saw this machine it had a high pitch whistle on it they sure did improve the horn
