Since all art is subjective, I won't say this is definitively the Best Hardcore Record Ever, but it is without question the most important and necessary album for me. Life-changing band, life-changing album.
00:00 1. The Outsiders (AKA Hell Is for Heroes Part I) 03:14 2. Martin Atchet 05:53 3. John and Jimmy 07:49 4. Marshalltown 11:39 5. D.E.A.D.R.A.M.O.N.E.S. 14:02 6. Young Man on a Spree 15:39 7. I'm Not Ready 18:35 8. Young Man Blues 21:48 9. Hair Raising Accounts of Restless Ghosts (AKA Hell Is for Heroes Part II)
Omg, I'm so incredibly glad I found this, I got this from an off-the-wall record store back in like 2006/2005 or so and I'd never heard of it but it was one of my favorites I've ever owned, and I totally forgot the band name, album name, lyrics ... everything, then I found this on my suggested feed and nearly died of a heart attack, thank you so much for this.
well, i read many times - BEST HARDCORE ALBUM - etc. but this one actually is very good. even in my 40s now i grow on different HC sound and bands, i value this album high. keep the energy guys
No name just Music I'm going to the show on Saturday. Thats dope you're going to see them at gilman. Dont miss the opening band Dangers and Cult Leader. Both bands kill it
This album was so needed when all of the effeminately-voiced pop garbage was being spewed around like a fat kid after his first roller coaster ride. +1 for keeping the background black as well, true music illustrates itself.
It was fine in moderation but you can't say it wasn't starting to flood the market. Hell I'll still play Used and the likes here and there. Never said it was screwing with my hormones or whatever you're implying.
I truly believe this is one of the best hardcore albums ever made. Instrumentally and lyrically. There's no weak point about it at all.
I truly agree
This record literally changed the entire direction of my life.
word !
i'm 34 and i relate to the opening track more than i ever have, which is sad, but i have a light. i'm not just spinning my wheels anymore.
its definitely one of the best ..

I'm with ya in age.... And agree... This is such as different style but still lies in the realm of hardcore.
This and Songs To Scream At The Sun are the best for me.
Jackbw same here, man. Tied for #1.
I'm so glad I found this a few weeks back... Have Heart and MLIW are the best things ever happened to my life. Keep it up guys!
Have Heart, MLIW, Crime in Stereo, mewithoutYou. I wouldn't be the same person I am now if I hadn't discovered those bands.
Hardcore done right. Such a unique fucking melodic sound. I'm sold, this is great.
If you don't get the chills listening to the intro to Marshalltown, then you're dead inside.
I'm dead inside, that's why it's relatable.
first two tracks are among the very strongest rock songs ever made. incredible.
when i was in high school i would have never imagined one of my favorite hardcore punk bands would from my home state of iowa.
Fuck, I wish I could've heard this as a teenager. Outlaws would have rocked me to my core.
i witnessed this band live in Switzerland.... great and intimate show.
this album is timeless
