  • Unloading products such as corn syrup, caustic soda, UREA, DEF, or many other liquids from tanker railcars requires heat to make the product flow. This heating process can take several hours, sometimes days depending on the product and environment.
The Sioux Air Churn provides significant time savings within the heating process. The device is a high-cycle compressed air solenoid that provides large volume air bubbles to the railcar. These bubbles promote fluid motion inside the car, moving the hot liquid away from the heating coils, so that colder liquid can get closer. This fluid motion drastically reduces overall heating times.

I have no idea why the algorithm brought me this video but I learned heating these tanks is a thing that needs to be done.

That is very cool. Which brings me to another thought. I’d think it would be helpful if the air is also hot. That way, instead of carrying away some of the heat from the product, it adds more heat.
One way that comes to mind to do this would be a heat exchanger between the compressor intercooler and aftercooler, and the air supply line right before the tank car.

God love trains. Thank you for this video.
Does the check valve going to the car have to be positioned before a 90° solid pipe turn? Or would it be possible to attach the valve directly to the Sioux unit and have flexible 1" hosing connect to the car?
