Why Bard is the most powerful unit of Set 3.5

- The developers of Teamfight Tactics have just released their first ever set revival onto the live servers. Players have been begging Riot Games to bring back some of the previous sets, so they can enjoy them once again or play for the first time. And it looks like their voices were heard! But a key thing we should note here is that it is not an identical copy of the 10.18 patch (the last one of "Return to the Stars" back in 2020!). This set uses modern mechanics we know and love, such as portals, augments and new items! But it also means that there are tons of broken interactions waiting to be discovered. So let's talk about one of the them, specifically a 3 cost unit called Bard, and how he interacts with March of Progress and Cruel Pact!

It feels weird to be this early on a vid of yours, but Is also rewarding to know that you tested and approved Bard, I feared they nerfed him because of the new items and the fast-level augments, so thanks for letting me know LeDuck!
Now I hope I have good luck to roll him soon and often to not get stuck at a 1 Star Bard 😅
On PBE I was running Bard-karma backline with four protectors. It's rediculous that 2 staring protectors can outdamage almost all comps except for Yi and you ride the exp farm until 10 for teemo, janna, GP
See I was running bard but I could never figure out how to get consistent frontline, not sure why I didnt try protector
not surprised, xin zhao and rakan are absolute abominations
Best thing about bard is that it saves you money to reroll.

I just did this in my first game of set 3.5 a couple hours ago. I hit early bard on 2-3, slapped shojin, guinsoo and trickster's glass, which creates a bard copy that also benefits from Astro. I was running 4 chrono so the Bards were ramping up attack speed quickly. With that setup I went fast 10 and hit Ekko 3 :)
Me play mecha, me no pivot!
I played my first game set 3.5 yesterday, got bard +spear + chrono at 2.1, diamond hands from portal and gamblers blade from augument.
Long Story short, urgot 3* won me the game
I did a game with twin terror, one bard was full ap the other had guinsoo and shojin I think, well I went to lvl 10 and simply played two xerath. It was insane.
cluttered mind augment is awful with thresh, it doesn't work with him
The nerf to cass range is painful for me. Back in the days vanguard mystic is so broken
I saw the thumbnail, launched set 3.5 got bard teemo at level 5, lvl 10 at 5-1 with no exp augments, god i love tft
Can you test the sniper focus zed interaction? I know that the clone does not inherit the range from it but does clone benefit from the damage amplify when zed is further away and the clone is only 1 range?
chrono bard into late game xerath transition so satisfying
I'd say Janna is the most powerful - without multiple quicksilvers you get almost permanently stunned.
Who is more powerful. Bard who gets you Janna faster or Janna? 🦆
@@leduck You don't need Bard to get Janna though, he gets you there faster for sure, but he provides no combat power and will likely make you lose health in the process, especially if you itemize him to get more chimes. That and he needs to be at least 2-star to be effective, while 1-star Janna with mana generation increases the durability of your board by an absurd amount due to the enemy being stun-locked most of the time while the rest of your board slaughters their frontline. Indomitable Will shuts it down effectively, but you can't rely on getting it. It's a very toxic interaction.
Broken as hell with march of progess, I didn't even put items for him and just kept rerolling to 50 gold each turn and I ended up having teemo, wukong, gnar, bard, ashe and naut all 3 starred. And I reached lvl9 by stage 5-3

Might be a visual bug with the damage over time effect, but i'll look into it. I think we had smth like this before
Was watching the video while my client was updating and the first game I played I immediatly got March of Progress with Bard on lvl 5. Had 2 Protectors, 2 Dark Star, 2 Mythic and ended with 4 Protectors, 4 Celestial, 3 Star Guardian Sorcerers with Syndra 3 carry. Went 2nd to 4 Sniper guy but that's okay
On Tft clips mort said there's 50 copy of each unit is it true ?
50 for tier1,2,3 and 20 for tier 4,5

If Bard 3.5 was the Bard 10, it'll give a wet dreams for huge comps like pentakil-mosher or punk-executioner
i remember how i played it back then and ALWAYS went bard frontliner mythics XD, i always rushed 5 and bard, then went lvl 8/9 and swapped all items to thresh and lots of urgots on bank
Hey man just experience a bug and came to you as fast as i can. I have a chosen dazzler lux and the hologram augment and for some reason no one copies her when i put the edm thing on her. It works when i put it on zac who isnt chosen but the copied lux doesnt cast zacs ability. Something is off with this augment/trait combo
Only a max of one EDM unit can copy a spell. If you have two Lux, then the game will select the stronger one for the copy effect

Hey le duck, I just discovered this but if you put a star guardian emblem on mecha garen and run janna and the other star guardians. Mecha garen deals true damage on his basic attacks.
I played on pbe yesterday and got 2 bards in the minion rounds and a lesser champion duplicator from an augment, and I was level 7 with 50 gold on round 3-3.
Then the pbe crashed
to be fair, bard was stronger originally. as shojin was 10 mana, blue buff was stronger, and hurricane also procced extra mana from shojin, so a 1 star bard could cast per auto.
@leduck can you do a video explaining why someone's ghost is weaker than their real board?
I just had a game were I had out the gate Bard equipped with hullbreaker, gamblers blade, and rageblade. It actually worked really well because he could survive infiltrators and still make lots of meeps while earning gold at the same time.
It got even better after adding more astro to the team.
6 Protector and having protector emblem on 3 Star Bard is op as frontline
Cassio is absolutely dunked on without rapid fire cannon
I really can't play this set. Maybe I was spoiled by the newer ones, but having units jumping in the back and that BLITZ unit😳😳 nah man, it's too much stress for my poor little fragile backline units😥
what would have been fun is one patch its the set at the beginning, and the next its the set before it ended XD

3 star bard with star guardian is a pretty funny interaction, its like hyperpop but for all star guardian units
Protector bard 3 with 2 warmogs is unkillable if not applied proper cc aswell

I just tried this but with endless hordes as the 2nd augment. It's so much fun bc you winstreak off of it and just start leveling to hit astro. Comp was a Chrono/Astro/Star Guardian. Bard started to ramp up with just a shojin on my end bc Chrono gave him scaling attack speed.
Also realized Manazane is so OP with Syndra infinitely scaling her orbs + Janna to cap out and convert her magic dmg to true dmg.
Janna True Damage only applies to attacks, not spells
Bard broken in real league and TFT lol
I had a game of cruel pact bard, it is incredibly satisfiying
