Was he alright? Because damn!
He was good. see landing here... 3:35: ua-cam.com/video/dYcgruURzQg/v-deo.html
@@wildwestadventurez Lol I shouldn't have clicked the link. In my mind, he stuck the landing 😆 Oh well, major props to him for at least trying 👏 That's an insane drop.
@@datubeda Insane. His bindings needed a higher DIN setting and not wearing a helmet when doing that is not smart...
@@datubeda mine too. damn.
thats not a random skiier, thats my steep character!
Steep and deep!
😂
Riders Republic for me 😅
Steep is so clear
I love the open ended nature of this. I choose to believe he broke his back yet stuck the landing.
A group from Cedar Hills in Minnesota traveled to Jackson 1979 and three of us went upside down of Corbet’s! Two landed, one tomahawked😱😱 43 years later, many of us still ski…in the blood! To all the Old Kicker builders..Cheers!
Legend has it his arm are still flailing
Sometimes you just have to roll down the windows. Must have been too hot out, with global warming people have to do their part... 😜
If you have never stood at the top of that run, no video does it justice. I am sure for those that are used to catching big air it’s all good but for the rest of us it’s terrifying. I ski a lot and I am very good but this run is above my pay grade. I think on a good snow year I could do the slide in method but certainly not going to drop it, which is the proper way. Much respect to those that can.
You get it! Many in the comments don't. Lol...
@@mikeauxbig There is a lot of runs and terrain around the world that is out of my pay grade. Yes I know Cham has some serious no fall zone skiing. That all said if you can drop CC like it’s nothing much respect. CC is a very easily accessible run, unlike many runs in Europe it’s not ski mountaineering. Average people can ski right up to CC and look down. No guide needed. When I have skied in Europe I have always had a guide because I am not good enough to drop big air. Steep and narrow, but no drops for me. Take care
Yep - It's always scarier in person
If anyone is wonder why he is flapping it’s because his left ski got caught on the rock ledge as he made the drop. He flapped his wings and sure as shit looks like he got his skis corrected. Sent.
Didn't even notice nice catch.
That’s 60 feet if it’s a foot. You don’t really get a sense of the exposure from the angle. He’s looking at the drop, a 30+ degree landing area that falls away a few hundred vertical feet before finally flatting out. The drop is impressive, but far more so when you realize it’s like he’s leaping from a ten story tower hanging in space at the top of an enormous mountain.
40 ft tops. Lets say his ski is a 180. When he clips the rock at the first step only half of it is between the lip and that first crack in the wall. Count that crack to lip measurement down the wall face. Or you could time his hang time... the wall isn't 50, but close to 50.
He immediately came out of his bindings when he landed
I was there that day, filming and watching this dude ... that's me and my mates commenting on it, the dude certainly had balls!!
Did he landed it?
@@jjvv1993 nope ua-cam.com/video/dYcgruURzQg/v-deo.html
Yeah, yeah, you were there; good one 👍
@@guybrown2476 you were too pussy to go down it, otherwise the rest of us would’ve obvs!
I was there too...he nailed it!!!
Dudes a good skier, just hung up on a rock going off. Ballsy af!
Kinda looks like Owen Leeper local legend
I had the same thought
This guy just demonstrated how long it takes to grow balls. Hopefully he had support upon landing.
First skied by Sick Rick Armstrong I believe. That shot is referred to as Louisiana Leep after some tourist wandered off that cliff in the fog years and years ago
Sick,bro!
This is unreal I wish we could see the landing
“Doesn’t even have a helmet” lmao
mate the commentary is banging on this video
Now THAT is sick
Judging from the lack of applause, it sounds like he didn't quite "make it". Hope he was alright!
probably not. i dont think he was trying to ski, it looked like he thought he was gunna fly ha
Well we didn't hear anyone ohh and ahh because he wiped out either. That guy looked like a pro and he nailed the exit and looked to be in good form to land the jump.
Bravo!!!
Could this be Dr. Huckinstuff? An old school Jackson Hole freeskier
guy had sack. that was a legit drop
buddy was trying to take flight
Owen leeper
Flapping his wings...
That’s not some random skier - that’s Dr Huckenstuff ! Know your skiers !!
Owen Leeper!!!
“Did he land” lmao.
Homeboy ¢ it!
They say he's still falling to this day.
legends like that don't need helmets
Hotdog Hans is that you...
nice send
Excellent filming. 😂😂😂
"Did he land?" Um, yeah, I'm pretty sure he landed.
Did he land well? No. No he did not.
What happened? Did he live?
apprentley he lost his skies but lived :D
Not a smooth landing. Found the landing here at 3:35: ua-cam.com/video/dYcgruURzQg/v-deo.html
Nice find
…and 10 years ago too 😂
Owen Leeper??
Nobody cheered? It'd blow my mind to see that shit.
No helmet 😫
I know right!
Poofball negates fall damage
Helmet use has produced no drop in injuries or fatalities. Didn't believe at first either
@@duuurs Yeah, almost like adding mass to your head increases its momentum in a crash.
@@duuurs My personal opinion, not based on ANY kind of research: I feel like it's a seesaw. Helmets decrease the severity of the bumps so, but also increase the willingness to do things that are maybe a bit above your skill level which can lead to gnarlier slams.
People like to exaggerate the height of such things. As an experienced cliff diver, that looked like a legit 50 foot drop (from what I could see).
Apparently broken bones didn’t make it into the thinking process before this………….😂
Owen Leeper
That’s Pelletier
Bro could have ended up at the morgue.
Couldn’t see the finish… did he land it?
I cant remember on this. I cant find the link for that session on TGRs page. It was at the end of that years release when they allowed the public to drop in.
His ski popped off on impact, so not really.
Yeah he lost a ski and a pole so nope lol
Anyone know who this skier is?
That was Nikolai Schirmer! We were relaxing at a restaurant and I know he took another lap of Corbets alone!
Naw JK I have no idea who it is but that was so sick!
Owen Leeper
Jeff Leger aka Dr. HUCKINSTUFF
@@gordonsenzer6986 he was there that day and went big. But this wasn't him. 90% sure it was Owen.
@@bigchungusmk6 same outfit atleast
and no helmet crazy
dude was wearing a beanie no helmet.....
@El Barbero yeah sure
oldschool :D
He dead?
Owen Leeper I believe.
Based on his clothes for that time I am pretty sure it is Owen Leeper.
@@wildwestadventurez not sure... Owen uses a helmet and his clothes colors are inverted!
That looked like Owen for sure.
Maybe Dr. Huckinstuff the legend of Jackson
... then what happened?
He didn't land it if that's what you're asking. Looked like he lost a ski an pole on a painful impact. I bet he felt it for at least a few days.
RIP?
😆 LOL....
Dude's not even wearing a helmet???!
Wtf... why wouldn't you film him going down?
Cause they’d have fallen down the couloir if they’d tried … cameras were set up to capture the drop ins
But did s/he die? 😁
Kids remember to do not use helmet when you do stuff like this (like the guy on the video)
No lid like a boss
O my holy frick!
Plz like❤
Kinda looks like hotdog Hans lol
Precisely my thought as well! Only he isn't wearing jeans
Lousy camera work, would have been sweet to see what happened.
Wtf why even bother filming if you dnt get the landing
Ok camera Karen... Lol... Dont get your panties in a bunch.
massive cojones
thanks for not filming the fucking landing guys so awesome 🤦🏻♂️
Knob
Sounds like you keep it mellow as your name implies... lol...
@@takeguess I guess you could say that compare to that guy lol
This is bizarre, there is no video of him landing, there are no comments confirming that he landed ok, the video is cut off at the end, this is too bizarre.
Lol. Settle down.
Without a helmet! Oh no! Why would you do something with a helmet that you would not do without a helmet? You are fooling yourself if you think the helmet is going to make at difference when you are traveling more than 12 mph.
I feel like the overall clip quality was not even worthy of posting!!
Almost like you have never seen the "quality" videos on your own channel... lol... Self awareness?
What a poor filming. 🤦 Why did you upload it?
I remember when skiing was about skiing, not standing around with your phone
Stupid comment of the month goes to you sir🤦🏻♂️
Amazingly terrible video 🤣
Weak
Sounds like the helmet Karens even occupy places like Corbets now
No helmet karens here...I am glad hes not wearing a helmet.. Darwinism.. It gets the idiots off the mountain eventually...
@@taylormichael3532 Keep telling yourself that Karen, I ve been skiing / boarding for close to 40 years, never worn a helmet once and Im still here to annoy you. If you feel the need to wear a helmet in anything other than an icy park or pipe its because you are a weak rider who doesnt know their limitations or skill level.
@@ST19859 hahahahaha!!!! Me too big shot (skiing and snowboarding for 38 years)... never wore a helmet until the last 6... you know why? because its the smart thing to do and has nothing to do with limitations. You dont believe in head injuries and the amount of research on CTE? uneducated dumb dumb. Has everything to do with other inadequate people on the mountain that can cause you to make a mistake.... So travis rice or Torstein Horgmo dont know their abilities/ limitations? they dont ride ice or pipe... Please dont ever wear a helmet. Natural selection bud.
~your friend, the Helmet Karen
@@taylormichael3532 Ooohhh Dumb Dumb, you really got me there champ, real zinger. Congratulations you just named two guys I ve never seen wear a helmet outside of the sketchiest big Alaska stuff, is that the best you got ??? Cause I cant think of too many pros wearing them. The difference between us is I could care less if you feel the need for what amounts to an unneeded and vision blocking accessory in most situations. I'm quite sick of the sudden influx of nosy know it all ski moms that feel the need to lecture me on my life choices, hence your Karen status. I'll bet you were also screaming at anyone not masking up, keeping 6 feet of distance and not providing vaccine papers last year too. Busy bodies like you are why I stick to the backcountry now.
Us "Karens" have a free, Permanent residence in your head...I hope your day gets better bud.
🤦♂Yes, helmets are not for real men, helmets are only for cowards.
Watched all that and theres no ending 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Not random I believe that’s @owenleeper
i don't think so, owen leeper has done Corbets at full speed with a backflip. he has also skied on that vertical rock wall on his way down from that approach. he wouldn't have the hesitation this guy did, and he also wouldn't have the flailing arms.
I think it is Owen but I am not 100% sure at this point. Will pin a comment when the skier has been 100% confirmed and identified.
Really depends on the conditions of the day. Owen is almost always falling into to the fresh stuff. This looks very trekked out so anyone, including Owen, would be wise to take the time to scope.
It looks like Owen from the color of the clothes and his size. But who knows
