Nice review! I get horrible chaffing on my chest from the strap during ultras. So I am glad there is a good alternative and I‘ll go ahead and order one of these. I hesitated on buying the Polar one (bad experience with Polar) so I’m glad Coros released this.
I have the coros heart rate monitor with a Garmin forunner 965 and it’s a verry good match. I try the coros with Samsung healt on my Phone and use the wrist heart rate on my forerunner just for fun and the coros win.
Nice job dude! Over 10k subscribers too. Man… pro level now. That’s awesome! Great review too. I hate chest straps and their constriction and $80 isn’t bad either. I suppose it works with Garmin if Bluetooth.
Great review Steven. I've been loving my Coros though have found heart rate to be a bit off here and there so good to see they've brought this out, hadn't heard about this before, thanks for sharing 👍
I love seeing the data between multiple devices to see how this compares to the other devices. What program do you use to overlap all the heart rate data so they are on the same graph?
Hi ! Thanks for the great review. Does it always need to be paired with the watch? Or can it record your hr without one and check the data later on the app? The reason I ask is because, in addition to running, I also play beach volleyball and can’t wear my Pace 3 but still would like track my hr during game. Thanks! I hope to hear from you!
Yes, the HR monitor must be paired to your watch to record data. It doesn’t have any internal storage. If you can keep your pace 3 close by, it may stay connected and record.
Oddly I found the same thing with downhill on coros. Not even running, just hiking. It's always baffled me, as it happens even if the watch is tight and under a sleeve. There's no way it's cadence lock either, as I don't hike downhill at anywhere near the kind of high bpm it was showing. Chest strap for me. I find you ultimately get used to them, but these arm ones like this and the polar verity seem like good options for people who really don't want to - or people who wear bras especially.
Yeah it’s really odd. I wear my watch very tight. I don’t recall having the downhill issue with my APEX Pro, or even the APEX 46mm. Just the newer watch. Yeah the arm band is a great option!
How can you be sure that the Arm HRM is more accurate than the Apex 2 Pro? It's because the way you wear the Apex 2 Pro is incorrect. I compared both of them, and they are 99% similar.
Hello Steven , I just wanted to know if you could wear this band on your wrist or it’s too loose , I’m thinking about buying one , but I’m comfortable wearing it on wrist , help me please .
Prepared Good information.. Please let me know can i run with this optical heart rate sensor stand alone(without watch),if yes then how i will start and stop the run and get data on Coros mobile app.?
The material is super smooth. I found I have to keep the pieces used to tighten the band on the upper or outer arm so it doesn’t rub my torso. The only negative is that since you wear it near the armpit, the band gets stinky
Does this work as a standalone HR monitor with the app? Like I want to use this for Muay Thai, but I don’t want to wear anything else on my wrist or body. I want this to substitute for my Apple Watch. Will this track my HR without any other device connectivity?
People do this with apple devices and woop bands [edit, corrected Wahoo to woop]. So it would probably work, but obviously it gets a lot harder to view your data in real time.
@@UltraTrailSteven your have many coros watches, so you can try, just to understand if it's new hrm band so good, or just depends on position where to wear watches.
Having trouble holding a connection between my Coros Armband HRM and my Garmin watch. It connects, it says it connects, but then if I check my Garmin watch 5 minutes later it either says disconnected or reconnecting. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Awesome! The only negative that I forgot to mention, is that since you wear it on your arm very near the armpit... the band can get smelly.
This is great! It’s definitely eliminates some of the issues female runners have positioning a chest strap around a sports bra.
Absolutely!

Great to hear!
Always down to see what products are coming out and how they stack up! Great review.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, thank you! The standby mode is 80 days I believe, as opposed to the 80 hours you mentioned, otherwise very helpful information :)
Thanks

Thank you! Yes it will pair with a Garmin or any BT watch or device
Great review Steven. I've been loving my Coros though have found heart rate to be a bit off here and there so good to see they've brought this out, hadn't heard about this before, thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you! COROS kept this one quite until today. It just launched today.
Garmin doesen't have a HR armband product out yet right?
I don’t think so.
Interesting that running downhill doesn’t give you as accurate a reading on the watch. 🤔 30 BPM is a huge difference!
Yeah it was crazy. The armband Heart Rate Monitor is way more accurate.
I have that same issue with my Apex Pro 2. It also happens when I’m riding my MTB on trails. Bummer!
I love seeing the data between multiple devices to see how this compares to the other devices. What program do you use to overlap all the heart rate data so they are on the same graph?
Yes comparison of the data is key! I use quantified-self.io/

@@UltraTrailSteven I have the original pro, so can confirm that it happens there.
Where to buy?
Amazon doesn’t have it.
The three running shops in the Pasadena/Monrovia area doesn’t carry it, even while they sell Coros watches.
It’s out of stock on the COROS website too. Have to wait till the next batch.
The Coros website lists two versions (one is "large") but the dimensions are the same. How big is your bicep and how well did it fit?
My bicep is about 15" in circumference. It fits fine
How can you be sure that the Arm HRM is more accurate than the Apex 2 Pro? It's because the way you wear the Apex 2 Pro is incorrect. I compared both of them, and they are 99% similar.
It’s due to the amount of tissue available for reading. Arm or chest straps are the most accurate.
we will normally be able to see all the data in the coros app as with the watch
The monitor has to pair with the watch. It won’t record data on its own.
Did you now that this coros armband work perfecaly fine inside the forearm ? Juste foud a big veine.
Yes it does. COROS lists the forearm and bicep as the best locations.
Greetings from Malaysia! Thank you for your in depth review. I have a question, whats the size of the strap? Is it 22mm or 24mm?
Thank you! The band is 22mm.
@@UltraTrailSteven thank you so much! Really appreciate the info.
Great review. What is the software you use to download the data for HRM?
I just export the .fit file and then use quantifiedself.io to analyze
Hello Steven , I just wanted to know if you could wear this band on your wrist or it’s too loose , I’m thinking about buying one , but I’m comfortable wearing it on wrist , help me please .
No, it needs to be on the bicep or forearm as it needs more tissue to get an accurate reading
@@UltraTrailSteven yes Steven but I just wanted to know if it's loose on the wrist or it's tight lmao
Hi, can it replace my whoop band?
It will only record heart rate
Prepared Good information.. Please let me know can i run with this optical heart rate sensor stand alone(without watch),if yes then how i will start and stop the run and get data on Coros mobile app.?
Thank you. No, you cannot. It will not track and store data on its own.
My only issue is that the HR Monitor strap is small
Nice lowkey flex lol.
@@UltraTrailSteven I wish that was the case.
Waoo very nice 👍 my favorite
Thanks
Hi, have you tried the Garmin Elevate 5?
No, I have not
@@UltraTrailSteven If you have the chance, try it, the precision is impressive
Might there be chaffing on the torso or the arm from the strap? Is the material super smooth or a little coarse?
The material is super smooth. I found I have to keep the pieces used to tighten the band on the upper or outer arm so it doesn’t rub my torso.
The only negative is that since you wear it near the armpit, the band gets stinky
@@UltraTrailSteven LOL! You'll have to do a special "which laundry detergent works best on this material" research project.
Exactly that happened to me last week... I had a long run 40km (03:20':00") and i had a really serious chafing to my right arm!!!
Does this work as a standalone HR monitor with the app? Like I want to use this for Muay Thai, but I don’t want to wear anything else on my wrist or body. I want this to substitute for my Apple Watch. Will this track my HR without any other device connectivity?
No it will not. It must be paired to a watch. You might want to look into a fitness ring maybe.
@@UltraTrailSteven appreciate your response. Thank you
What if wear watches on same place with this new HRM? (like use some extended band or similar)
I mean maybe? I haven’t tried it to see if it would be accurate b

Can i wear it on wrist like a watch?
You can, but it won't be as accurate for the reasons I explain in this video

You can find the Polar Verity Sense for years..
That's correct.

Hm I’m not sure? Is the Garmin watches firmware up to date?
Can I get cycling v02max with it and threshold readings?
It’s just a heart rate monitor
