Why are yal throwing hate at the judges man.. if you were in the judge's place and someone would come and say "eeh fuck the judges lets pretend they dont exist" and does their own thing..how would you feel?? @chrisoliver4663 I'll admit i have no idea who any of those "judges" are or were. The contestants aren't there to serve them, quite the other way around. The crowd loved him and he definitely has talent!
Dawit Tedros That is true but plz hear this. He has Great talent indeed. As a good musician myself I can’t even get close to his talent. He would wipe me like a towel on the floor... But sadly for him his attitude will not help him... I mean it is great to have confidence and all. But being humble also goes a long way. Especially if you are gonna work with a lot of people... And I’m not saying this to be an arse. But the judges did have a point... And I have tried it myself... First time I began I was being a prick. My contacts didn’t like my behavior and I got zero jobs. Then I changed attitude and now I’m living from my hoppy... No ones likes a smart ass in the long run... And people may say yeah well he got talent and the people he entertains are the important ones. Sure but people forget the ones who makes this happen. From managers, publishers. Crew. Rodeos. Studios. Etc etc. They are the ones who have to deal with the bull shit and attitude before and after the show... let’s say I have the best product in the world and costumers loves me. But what good is it if I’m being an asshole to the ones who makes my products. Eventually they are gonna say ENOUGH! And how am I going to sell if the ones I work with hates me because I’m a smart ass, and they suddenly quit? If he becomes a huge star that means he is the boss. But then he will have a lot of people working for him. But who do you think they wanna work with. A nice and friendly boss or some ass who shouts them down the neck and gives them a hard time and unreasonable demands all the time... Think about it... If you have such a great talent and gift such as this young man then how about being a bit more humble and greatful for that. Leave the smart ass attitude at home. If people disagree then they most likely never been in show business... And yes I am aware of big stars who behave like dicks who are filthy rich. They are out there yes. But how many people do you not think who hates them. There are plenty. But normal people and fans never hear about that... When I do gigs and have to work with big stars, then trust me. I know who I like and enjoy working with. And I know who I hate and wanna puke when I hear their names... Be humble and polite and thankful for the gift you may have. And trust me the doors will open much more easily... And yes he was not saying the worst things I have heard. But I have worked with many people like him. First they are very smart and joking and all. But then suddenly they explode. WHERE IS MY TOWEL, WHERE IS MY WATER, WHERE IS, WHERE IS. And suddenly they become very annoying working with. If you are working with someone then everyone should have a nice time. Not just the performer... I did feel sorry for him cause I think he is super good. Let’s hope he will think about that the next time.

This was nothing more than an ego battle that the judges desperately wanted to win, notwithstanding the fact that they rejected a talent on a talent show
I come back to this video every once in a long while, and the attitude of the judges still gets under my skin. He was very clearly teasing them in order to get good laugh from the audience, which of course damaged their little fragile egos. Yes, the guy was really cocky, but when your that good at what you do, you absolutely earned that cockiness. And if they thought what he said was insulting, they would probably cry like babies if it were Frank Zappa on stage, because he would absolutely make fun of them for their superficial personalities and thin skin, egotistical attitudes. But anyway, as many commenters pointed out, if Simon were here, he would’ve absolutely given this guy a yes. And I think the line, “Well my aim isn’t to be in a boy band chief” perfectly sums up why they didn’t pick him. Hopefully this guy found success elsewhere, because he got done dirty here by these snowflakes.
I'm a little confused. I thought this was "Australia's Got Talent" not "Australia's Got Personality." Not that there was anything wrong with this guy's personality. Jesus Christ! This guy tries to have a little fun with his audience; he turns out to be literally one of the most talented musicians I've ever seen on one of these shows, and because the judges didn't like his humour and they had too much of an ego, they didn't let him through. Listen to the audience reaction. That says all that needs to be said about the judges' shocking abuse of power and their complete narcissism.
and also they are realists and look for a performer that could be very successful and bring profits, a thing you cannot understand being romantic, immature and an idealist, so stfu and let them choose a portable ATM, because that's what they whether you and I like it or not! also, he was kinda arrogant and all in all, not impressive, so im gonna agree up to a big extent with the judges.
lotyloty2 This is what I hate about the music industry today. It's not about talent and being an artist anymore. John Lennon was an arrogant fuck, and so is Paul McCartney to an extent. And what was that band they were in again? Oh, that's right. The Beatles. The biggest selling musical artists of all time. Owen Campbell is a brilliant musician and a passionate artist. Something the music industry cares very little about these days.
+PacificRimNZ well, you are right up to a point. Judges are human beings, not machines, and if this nobody, who was actually asking for an opportunity (it was kind of a job interview for him) could not contain his narcissism, I kind of find it reasonable that the judges (stars themselves) did not make the effort to contain theirs.
Yes true that's why we dont hear greatness on the radio..gonna get butthurt of making a simple statement of he has a stage and wants to entertain the ppl

That's something I always wanted to do. Show up in a first Audition, ignore the judges, play something incredible, and never show up again. That's just EPIC. Well done Dude !
I didn't see his comment as rude or cocky... to me it sounded like calming nerves. "Pretend the judges aren't here"... that's not an insult to me. Maybe I don't understand Australian culture, lol.
Ask Gordon Ramsay about how sensitive Australians can be....apparently they had to finally submit and let him appear on MC Australia this year but he came to Australia back in the early millenium and offended the food critic community there and has not been invited to come back until just recently probably because now his celebrity is just too large to ignore....
Sounded to me like it was meant as "I don't want to mess up by thinking the judges are there because it makes me nervous". I wouldn't have taken it as an insult.
It's been years since the judges in this video first pissed me off, and I still get worked up. The guy just had a joke fall flat, and the judges made fun of him because they think they're hot shit. He tried to stay lighthearted and say that he'll pretend the judges aren't there so he doesn't get fazed, and again they took it as an attack because they think they're untouchable. He was very mature for apologizing a lot, but the judges were too butthurt to care. Also, BEING COCKY AND FUN AND NOT BACKING DOWN TO CRITICS IS WHAT MADE CLASSIC ROCKSTARS SO FAMOUS AND SO GREAT!! He was confident, not cocky, and he wasn't taking their shit. Poor dude is awesome and just got shot down for putting his foot in his mouth
@Colm m Thank you Colm for informing me, I genuinely did not know. I still stand by my statement... That being...that particular judge only got where she is because of her more talented sister!
Lmao. The judges have their heads so far up their own ass they don’t even realize it. They are used to people being star struck around them. They don’t impress this guy. He marches to him own drum. I thought he was great!! And funny. He put them In Their place. He’ll make it anyway.
Where's the anger? Jokingly he said he'll pretend the judges are not there followed by a well deserved sarcastic "boss". This guy is seriously talented and doesn't need to change his attitude towards the rich and famous, he doesn't care too much about them that's all.
Simple joking indeed, snobs got uptight misunderstanding the light hearted jokes. He stayed calm, apologized when he was not at fault, performed well, and made simple jokes that sadly, the judges ego's prevented them to understand... Only one judge actually acted like a judge even though you could tell he misunderstood the joke as well. He voted on talent, not personality just like he was supposed to....
"Why did you come out here and try to make an enemy of us before singing?" The judges then proceed to make an enemy of the audience. Though to be fair, that particular question came from the only judge to say "yes".
Luke Towner wrote: Isn't the show called "got talent" not "got a good attitude" Me: And during the ACT, isn't the audience supposed to concentrate on the ACT, rather than the JUDGES? If the answer to that question is yes, then what was the problem with Owen saying, "We'll pretend the judges aren't there for a little while and I'll just entertain you lovely folks?" It's only AFTER the artist has finished their act that the focus should fall on the judges and their critique. It's a shame that their critique ended up focusing more on them being quite rightfully sidelined for 2 minutes instead of the act because they were so far up their own arses. If anyone needed to apologise, it was the JUDGES, but even when Owen came back for a second chance, they were STILL acting all butt hurt because someone had the sheer audacity to suggest that the focus shouldn't be on THEM for 2 whole minutes. I don't know how Owen managed to suck that up, probably because deep down, he's a really humble guy, unlike the "precious" judges. If it was me up there, I'd have been sorely tempted to jump off the stage and knock Brian McFadden spark out. If Owen had done that, he'd be even more liked and his talent, that ALL the judges lack, would still have ensured that he had a good career once he'd served his 3 months or whatever in prison. I was a little bit disappointed that he didn't stick it to them by winning the whole show, but to be fair, like there are certain years that are good for producing great wine, 2012 was an excellent year for that show with the amount of exceedingly good raw talent on stage. My 2 cents.
Wait.................how the heck did he "make an enemy of them"????? He had a confident and good attitude saying he was gonna pretend the judges weren't there. That means he wanted to PERFORM, like any PERFORMER should. And I thought his comebacks were funny, and not like intentionally rude. I don't know if it's like a cultural thing, but in america, where I live, how he acted isn't rude at all. I'm so freakin confused.
+Remyparkour No, that's not at all what it was. He said it as if the judges were not important. THAT is what they were unhappy about. Then saying that he was 'not hoping to be in a boy band' was a reference to Brian McFadden's previous career, as if being in a boy band is not real music, or not worthy of respect. He *was* rude, no question.
it was all ego...whoever the judge onnthe left is likes to be the center of attention and his ego is fed off of the little bit ofnpower he gets as a judge...as soon as it wasnt about him he got butthurt....the overconfidence the performer has is a hardened shell from peforming on the streets...you meet alot of assholes and douchebags and just general miserable jealous mean people when you perform on the streets as he does...he wouldnt be able to do what he does without that shell...he would have been crushed...
The whole "pretend the judges aren't there" could also have been his way of calming himself down and cooling his nerves. Then again I can't read minds so who knows.
No way. I've performed in front of people before (and I have maybe 1% of Owen's talent), and you're always nervous. And you can't seriously believe that this is his first time playing in front of people when he busks in public? It's quite simple really. He became an excellent musician and singer, and got cocky about it. Occam's Razor.
Jason Yip mate he didnt say that he would ignore the people, but the judges. He is used to random people claping and cheering but not to judges actually pressuring and deciding on him. Their decision was depending on if he is going to pass or not. He never performed in front of actual judges so id say the idea of calming himself from the judges can be very so true
@Kristian, I get that point - but why actually say it to the judges? He could have just said it in his head, rather than out loud. If I were a judge, I'd be a bit miffed if a contestant (cos that's what he is) came on a show to be judged and then proclaim that "I'll pretend the judges aren't there". Even when he busked in public, he's still being judged by the public, whether he likes it or not. So being on a show is seriously no different. I'm not denying his talent or skill - he's got that in abundance. It's plain and simple that he's arrogant. And there's nothing wrong with being arrogant if you've got the skill or talent to back it up (which he has) - but don't cry about it when you upset people for being arrogant. Anyway, he got through on his second attempt, so not like it was a big deal!
1:30 His accent mispronounced the judges name, it wasn't intentional. The Judge on far left pushes buzzard. Which is rude. 1:39 Judge is not satisfied with his rude action, so he verbalizes his disrespect. 1:41 contestant is clueless that a judge would just smash him, on stage, at this particular moment and turns the conversation away from the hateful judge. 1:45 Judge on far left is heard letting out a quick laugh that the contestant ignored him, so continues his verbal assault at 1:55. Would you have thought all 3 judges were making fun of you walking into this? Of course. Him saying "Forget the judges, I will entertain you" was the classiest thing a person can do or say in response to this kind of behavior. And he is now forever the Internets winner of that show.

Owens comment about entertaining and forgetting about the judges was misinterpreted by the judges. He was trying to set the atmosphere for his performance. This is not Owens fault for what happened, his apology was ignored by all the judges, even though he owed not apology.

The man stated in the introductory bio that he gets nervous before he performs. He wanted to pretend that the judges were not there so as not to get even more nervous. Most people get more nervous when being judged and critiqued on their personal talent. The judges were very immature in handling this talented artist. It appears that they believe the show is about them.

The one thing that statisfies me in all this is that the two judges who got their panties in a bunch and voted no got fired from the show at the end of that season.
Mikeztarp :Indeed such egoistic judges should not judge. One is chosen to judge based on their ability to judge the real talent of the performer and not hw good they satisfy the petty ego and royal feel that they (unseated judges)expect.

Just because the show's about talent, doesn't mean they will allow someone to disrespect them? He was flat out rude with absolutely no need to be...
Holly McKenzie He wasn't, actually. He made a mistake and the judges drew it out because they're overly sensitive and insecure.
Aaron Hooper He came out like he couldn't care less to be there, called Brian "boss" in the most smartass way possible and then went on to say "I'm not planning on being in a boyband chief". Being cocky and arrogant doesn't and won't ever get you anywhere.
Holly McKenzie Note how those were in reaction to the liberties the judges took. I know of quite a few musicians who would've reacted worse.
Aaron Hooper The judges have every right, they are successful and worked their way to be there. To get to the top you have to show that you want it, not be a prick to the people who are going to give you that chance. There is no excuse for rudeness famous, or not...

Dawit Tedros yeah agreed, judge the talent not the personality!

Hear bloody hear!
He didn’t mean any disrespect to judges. He was just playing to the crowd. SMH. SMALL MINDED JUDGE
I'm a little confused. I thought this was "Australia's Got Talent" not "Australia's Got Personality."
Not that there was anything wrong with this guy's personality.
Exactly
and also they are realists and look for a performer that could be very successful and bring profits, a thing you cannot understand being romantic, immature and an idealist, so stfu and let them choose a portable ATM, because that's what they whether you and I like it or not! also, he was kinda arrogant and all in all, not impressive, so im gonna agree up to a big extent with the judges.
lotyloty2 This is what I hate about the music industry today.
Something the music industry cares very little about these days.
ethan sellevold I know! All because he accidentally got the judge's name wrong. How egotistical can you get?
+PacificRimNZ well, you are right up to a point. Judges are human beings, not machines, and if this nobody, who was actually asking for an opportunity (it was kind of a job interview for him) could not contain his narcissism, I kind of find it reasonable that the judges (stars themselves) did not make the effort to contain theirs.

It's been years since the judges in this video first pissed me off, and I still get worked up. The guy just had a joke fall flat, and the judges made fun of him because they think they're hot shit. My thoughts
He voted on talent, not personality just like he was supposed to....
merccc1 The next season of the show two of the judges didn't return. I wonder if issues like this had anything to do with it?

Me: And during the ACT, isn't the audience supposed to concentrate on the ACT, rather than the JUDGES?
If any one was rude it would be the judges
+Remyparkour No, that's not at all what it was. He said it as if the judges were not important. THAT is what they were unhappy about. Then saying that he was 'not hoping to be in a boy band' was a reference to Brian McFadden's previous career, as if being in a boy band is not real music, or not worthy of respect. He *was* rude, no question.
+Chris Owens Well in a way they aren't, the hundreds of people behind them should be whats important because that's who he is preforming for anyway
it was all ego...whoever the judge onnthe left is likes to be the center of attention and his ego is fed off of the little bit ofnpower he gets as a judge...as soon as it wasnt about him he got butthurt....the overconfidence the performer has is a hardened shell from peforming on the streets...you meet alot of assholes and douchebags and just general miserable jealous mean people when you perform on the streets as he does...he wouldnt be able to do what he does without that shell...he would have been crushed...
I'm from australia and he wasn't rude at all. The judges are just soft cocks!
The whole "pretend the judges aren't there" could also have been his way of calming himself down and cooling his nerves. Then again I can't read minds so who knows.
true
Jason Yip you must be like one of those judges I'm guessing.
It’s kind of stupid that they judge a person poorly because their feelings were hurt.
The guy wasn't even being rude, he was just giving his honest opinion. How idiotic of the judges.
at first he was just telling jokes and then he started to retaliate after the judge started coming at him negative
Mr Deadly You’re stretching soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard to make excuses for him. he’s an asshole. that’s okay! the judges should’ve put him through
@@freestyleentertainment821 Interesting. It's easy to see what you want to see. But you cant argue what happened. I simply put the interactions from start to finish in time stamp. As I pointed out, it is the judge at the end that makes the first disparaging comments. Not the contestant. But sure, lets live in your world where other people don't matter.
@@mesodeadly1337 There's always one in the World...Bang on I say

Wow, my gosh don't those three judges have fragile egos! That poor guy Owen comes out all joking and trying to break the ice and he gets the fat judge's name wrong and then Brian McFadden gets all angry with him and throws a massive diva strop like a two years old and refuses to put him through to the next round! Owen had talent and Brian and Danni Minogue knew it but they refused to put him through because they said he was being "cocky". Actually Brian was the sarcastic one to begin with by telling the guy that the judges name's were written in big letters in front of him!
He did get through eventually, after he redone his audition
the first judge has the attitude
...of a little bitch.
Agreed! I love this guy
Owens comment about entertaining and forgetting about the judges was misinterpreted by the judges. He was trying to set the atmosphere for his performance. When the judges came after him for this comment you can see that hes not sure wtf they are talking about. He even apologizes and Brian goes on to call him an ass. This is not Owens fault for what happened, his apology was ignored by all the judges, even though he owed not apology.
Sounds to me like the judges want to be all that. Guess the red shirt judge thought it was a judge contest.
“We’ll pretend the judges aren’t there for a little while & I’ll just entertain you lovely folks”
I see nothing wrong here
I agree, the judges took it all to personal, he didn't mean it in a derogatory way just that if he thought about them while performing it would be more nervous! Amateur judges, really bad judgement by the TV company to employ them.
Salty judges. Unfit to judge rationally.
@@waloalwynwayne7798 Small and fragile egos...
Owen doesn’t need that two bit show anyways…
exactly
this guy needs to come to mississippi, he's a great blues player
Memphis
Cross to New Orleans
Yeah, to be baptized to a better attitude
Fellow Mississippian here, I️ absolutely agree.
God what's race got to do with it?
The only cocky person I see here is the judge with a red kinda shirt

Lesson: You want in the club, you gotta kiss up to less talented overlords.
Right or wrong, the rules are the rules.
because kissing the judges ass is any better... it's nice to see someone not focus on the judges and just perform because it's what he loves to do.
Simon would love cocky&talented singer like him. These judges are too sensitive
Henry Airconcepts That first judge was about to cry
Yeah they let a women be a judge and guess what happened she brought her emotions with her! A judge is supposed to be a talented person who can objectively see what's good and what's not. And not to bring personal biases into it
Henry Airconcepts probably because Australia
Simon Cowell would have torn him apart for comments like that to any of his judges. If you want an opportunity like that then don't mess with the judges whether you like their work or not.
@- GaboBando - Someone needs to learn what a joke actually is. That isn't it and he got what he deserved.
No, he doesn't have bad attitude, he has character, that's 2 different things... those 2 judges are the ones with bad attitude.
Yes, they are too self centered and dumb to recognise that. They portray themselfs to be insecure and small minded.
Judges are overwhelmed with their self- importance.
"Why doesn't Australia produce a lot of great talent? Oh... This is why..."
Yea like what the hell the judges on americas got talent would never act like that they just let greattalent walk right out the door and they arebt even fazed cocky fuck wits
Literally, except for in sport. To be fair tho was a good lesson in not forgetting to please those who stand in the way of you going through. But was cringe cuz he's in rock n roll aussie battla character so it's a nulled message, so I agree 100% with u
Because Australia doesnt produce bad attitudes. Talent or attitude?
@@eraxie7329 why can't it be both. The judges bad attitudes let this guy go
ua-cam.com/video/hgVZtxnNpeg/v-deo.html
Honestly the guy did nothing wrong. You could clearly tell he wasn't serious. The judges were just complete arseholes because they got all salty about his charisma bahaha
I love how that dude demonstrates the absolute hipocrisy of these judging shows and even turns the crowd against the show.
"All right guys, let's make an experiment. I'm a jerk. But i'm very talented. Now let's see how honest your show is. Let's see if i'm really going to be judged based on my talent".
Jana maybe the judges did it intentionally, no one was paying attention to this show (at least where I live) until now that a controversial decision was made.
He wasn't even a jerk, just trying to banter a bit with the judges.
i watched this 12 years ago when i was 25 and it just got uploaded..i'm a musician myself and i found his attitude so "Badass" and "Anti industry" and "cool"
now that i am 37 and watch it again.i'm with the judges...attitude is so important, and it's amazing how my view has been change by time, experience and age
I thought the show was about talent & not the judges feelings.
Its not only talent fellas! Its the attitude as well.
Exactly!
@@eraxie7329 not true Lebron James has a bad attitude and makes 215mill every few years
@@ryanmoore3369 Who says that? People would initially show good character then when they get famous, they show their true character... Or thy change into something bad.... But this guy, not yet famous but acted like this. Come on. He got what he deserves.
@@eraxie7329 No, he didn't get what he deserved, the judge on the left bullied him and the contestant behaved how the JUDGE deserved.
Red shirt judge on the left: You're more of a musician than I will ever be. It's a no from me.
He did nothing wrong and was only joking around. The fact a judge has a go at him for trying to impress the fans is beyond me and as others have commented on there are 50% of big name pop stars and artists which have the worst personalities of anyone on this earth. And the way he is judged for not making it by 28 is outrageous!
The man stated in the introductory bio that he gets nervous before he performs. He wanted to pretend that the judges were not there so as not to get even more nervous. Most people get more nervous when being judged and critiqued on their personal talent. The judges were very immature in handling this talented artist. It appears that they believe the show is about them.
bro those judges got so butthurt when there ego was challenged.
not to mention, hearing the crowd cheer as they did.....thats where album and live show sales come from, not 3 judges.
I don't think his attitude was all that bad...
Faegir Volva well it's better than being boring innit
He just has a good sense of humour. Those judges egos got in the way.
I like him actually and he's very talented
LegendaryPlank I agree with you.
If i was a judge i woulda been laughing my ass of and hit the gold
If simon was there he will absolutely tell him the truth and guide him
There's been several contestants on his shows with bad attitude he offered a chance to bc he saw talent in them. He's not that big of a snowflake like the ones who said no to him
When a contestant's talent is more powerful than the pride the judges, they just can't handle it.
I thought the judges were there to judge people's talent not people's personality
THEGretsch Henry amen!
THEGretsch Henry exactly ! Let him suffer with that later. Judge his talent
If you were casting a show or recommending someone for a job, would you recommend someone with a lil skill that you really liked or someone with a lotta skill that you hated?
robertantonvlogs Not relevant to this show, plus the man didn't say anything bad at all, he was just making a light-hearted joke it feels like.
isuper64 It is actually relevant to any competition show. You piss off the judges and you're more than likely headed home. I thought he said it wrong but "ignore the judges" is not a nice way to start an audition where the judges are the ones actually deciding your fate.
because drake, justin and kanye has the best personalities out there eih?
Well drake & Justin bieber are very respectful... So what are you saying???????
+Jamerius Moody justin bieber, respectful? ha! just ask the people who did his deposition.

He had more talent than all 3 judges put together and they knew it.
nope the other way around, he had to offer up his ass to get in
That's an example why free music ends in the 90' labels want control and not creativity
"At 28, why is it that you're that talented and you haven't made it yet?"
Missy, there are hundreds upon thousands of extremely talented musicians who have and never will "make it", they make up 99.9% of the industry.
Exactly, that was such a stupid question. Asking that question accepts the idea that people “make it” by their late 20s which we all know isn’t true.
99% is a ridiulous %
“i guess i wasnt groomed at an early age by corporations”
THAT'S RIGHT! CHRIS! ThIS BULLSHIT ABOUT 'MAKING IT' .....PLENTY OF US HAVE GIVEN STELLAR PERFORMANCES WITHOUT ANY CAMERAS ON US, WITHOUT THE LIGHTS, AND THE GLAM. I KNOW THAT WHENEVER I PERFORMED; WHETHER IT WAS GIGS, OR BUSKING, I GAVE IT 100% EVERYTIME. BUT UNFORTUNATLEY THE AUDIENCE WASN'T THERE. THE TALENT SCOUTS WERE NOT THERE. UA-cam WASN'T THERE. CAMERAS WERENT THERE. INDUSTRY MOGULS WERENT THERE. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE I WAS PERFORMING TO SOURCE. WITH NO REAL MONETARY REWARD. AND I CAN REALLY SING. AS CAN ALOT OF OTHER UNDISCOVERED TALENTED BEINGS.
If they haven't made it then they're not "in the industry"
they got his name wrong and then he wanted to relieve the pressure by not imagining the judges there. what the hell who are these people
