Great review. I think it's worth mentioning that while the C5X is pretty long, the "over two meter" width you mention is including wing mirrors, making it not unusual. For example a Golf is slightly wider than the C5X (2073mm vs 2062mm)
@Roger You're not the most careful reader are you? 2073mm is the correct width when you are including wing mirrors. Which was the whole point of my post.
I have the 1.2 petrol only model. On a recent 75 mile round trip,it returned 54.2 mpg..Like some one said, why bother with the hybrid, that costs approx 8000 pounds more...Thats 6 or 7 years fuel for me,just to the break even point..HAPPY WITH MY CAR...
Once again, the hybrid version tested. The ride comfort in the hybrid version is not representative of the other models in the range, which do not have adaptive suspension. The hybrid is at a huge price premium to the petrol only cars. It will only be of interest to business users. In the other versions, the 1.2 engine is very economical. My C5x with the 130 bhp engine averages between 43.5 mpg to 46.8 mpg on long journeys. Urban driving it will be giving 38 to 41 mpg. Why buy the hybrid? This reviewer needs to test other models without adaptive suspension.
Great review. Like your presentation style, with clear and straight forward descriptions. This review has made me think about a brand and model I would not normally consider and knew very little about.. Well done. And thank you.
I've just sold my 18-month-old C5X 1.6 hybrid after owning it for 12 months. The depreciation has been crippling and it's value has plummeted by £12,000 over that period - I could have leased a brand new Range Rover for that. The drive comfort is wonderful and in hybrid mode it would easily achieve 90mpg. That said, the car has been really glitchy including pop-up faults with the climate control, heated driver's seat, reversing camera, auto wipers, auto lights, auto locking and electric tailgate. The weird slider thing to put it into gear (by sliding it backwards) always needs a double-check and its really easy to accidentally put it in reverse rather than drive, because its so counter-intuitive. The voice assistant is absolutely useless. Its such a shame because I was so excited to get the car and wanted to love it - but didn't.
Thank you for sharing good info - there is a good energy in you videos. You mention combined mileage (72 miles pr, gallon) is that based on when driving in hybrid in general, or when you drive it en general, and plug in every day and have a fresh battery every morning ? if i leave for vacation f.ex, will the hybrid driving as such provide a good mileage charging the battery in the way ?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the review! As for your question - that's with full EV range plus when it's depleted (after roughly 50 miles), and around 75 miles of driving. Hope that makes sense?
Very happy with my C5X hybrid so far, except for one thing; the navigation voiceover. There are no options, it's defaulted to an awful american drawl that cannot be changed. I contacted Citoen and eventually got back a reply, 'that's how it is, and we've got no plans to update it'. Given that this is not a cheap car, (I've got the full monty), that is not really good enough.
It really is rather bizarre and I'm suprised there hasn't been a fuss about it. As far as I know Citreon don't even sell cars in the USA so why did they think offering only American English was a good idea. Weird. @@TotallyEV
As a customer I got a polite brush off, but perhaps you could make some enquiries if you had time? They might be more forthcoming and it's certainly something that no one seems to have picked up. @@TotallyEV
About the battery... well citroen is working on a new gen battery so if you really want more then 37 miles or 55km... wait 2 years and this car will probably have 50-60 miles under it.
Wow first time I've ever heard of it. If Stellantis had any sense they should fit those new battery cells, or a full EV for that matter. Hell, borrow Toyota's style of planetary gear hybrid engines if they have to
I had the possibility to test drive it today and it brought back to me fond memories from my CX days of old. The C5 X is superbly comfortable and in hybrid mode it saves petrol as a professional environmentalist. Think I must have a chat with the bank...
Why Citroën is completely quiet on not just advertising the gorgeous CX5, but also completely silent on a full EV CX5 is beyond reason. Stellantis execs would be the usual suspects
Correction: There's 250 Nm of torque, not 360 Nm as mentioned in the video!

Thank you! Yes that's a good point, though still wide cars are something that people aren't too accustom to.

@Roger Thanks Roger. Sorry I was a bit condescending.

Why bother? Maybe performance? 1.2 l in such a big car sounds underwhelming. The fuel economy sounds great, though.
As others have said before me,the 1200cc punches well above it's weight..No complaints.
To avoid engine stress hybrid is good
I shortlisted this car but the lack of engine choice killd it.
Only one petrol engine is just stupid
Best way to be able to compare phev's is to quote miles covered in ev mode then mpg when running as a hybrid ie with the depleted battery.

the other versions simply lack the sports and obviously electric mode
Why buy the hybrid? Because mine easily achieved 90mpg, real world, and the ride quality was second-to-none.

Wow sorry to hear that, that's a crazy amount of depreciation!
If the suspension gets stiffer when pressing the drive mode button, your test vehicle had electronically controlled dampers (like Porsche, Audi...)...
No, like a real Citroen!
Very comprehensive review 👍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent and energetic review, thank you!

So with it being so long and wide is parking an issue
Wasn't for me, but really depends where you park!
Solid review, well done.
Much appreciated!
Hi I just want to ask if you will choose between peugeot 408 and citroen c5x what will you choose? Thanks!
Would pick the Citroen, suggest watching our 408 review for the comparison: ua-cam.com/video/uEnQuzsatDA/v-deo.html

Just wanted to ask, was the 75mpg achieved using the 1.6l hybrid engine variant? Thanks
That's right, this is a review for the hybrid model.
@@TotallyEV Great thank you. Would love the hybrid 1.6 but price wise it is a bit too steep. The new Honda Civic also looks good.
Indeed, great vehicle too. Check out our review of it!

Does this car have window wipers to wipe the rain off the window
Auto sensing wipers? Yes. Check the specs.

Ha, love it!
90% about the car, 10 % about face. Great video!
Haha, thank you!
Waaaah 74mpg..i think its coming from free energy available from the aether and environment
Ha! Yup, pretty incredible and unbelievable.
Fantastic car!

TOP car
A "sport" "comfort" station wagon that wants to look like an SUV but completely lacks off-road capabilities. And luggage space.
Luggage space!?
It not a saloon anyway that we know. Its more a big hatchback/SUV.
Guess you could say that!
Great presentation with out that annoying British accent !
Hmm?
Definitely is not an SUV. Eventually, for the sake of discussion CUV.
When I think of Citroen I think of intergalactic devaluation.
😶
Thank you so much. 🪷
Pleasure!
