  • In March 1945, the end of World War II was in sight.
    The Allies were advancing across Europe after defeating Germany’s hail mary offensive in the Ardennes, and only one true obstacle remained: the River Rhine.

    I live near by Remagen, you can still stee the holes everywhere. ONCE, i walkt up from rhine to the brigde.There stand german and U.S Veterans and hug each others under tears. I dont understand That, i was only 7-8 years Old. I could Not understand, why they are still friends, shake hands.. when they befor do all to kill each other .. then my father tells me That there was no Winner, all lose. And that the Important thing it is, to forgive each other. These Old Mans, Veterans, are so sad, they cry because of the Horror, and the honor To be back there and forgive each other. My gradpa Wilhelm fallen in the Last Night on 09/25/44 befor the US Must retreat on OP Market Garden. 3-5 Hours Later the Fighting stops for few days. But at 23:48 a Artillery Shell Hits his Commando Post. Days of knive and Pistol Fights, Heavy gunfights are before. Both sides lost hundrets soldiers a day. RIP to all soliders, whereever they from

    It’s cool to see the Bridge, my great grandfather was the first to drive across it, he never talks about it because of how overwhelming it was but you hear the stories of how it was the scariest thing he’s done. He even said it was suicide being the first.

    Spot on... too many today with their heads down. More focused on trivia, than when actually will affect the near future.

    I live five miles away from Remagen. There was a hell of a fighting around here back then, not only at Remagen itself.
    Greetings and all times friendship 🤝🏻 ☕

      That’s awesome .. my great uncle was a prisoner of war in the Philippines in ww2. He would never talk about it though and til the day he passed had to have padding on the head board to not bruise his arms from nightmares in his sleep. All he would ever tell me is “believe me you don’t ever want bamboo shoved under your finger nails” what these men went through is insane

    Love the footage of our Grandfather's heroism. I have never been able to figure out why the did not invent color until the 1950's. The world must have been very stark and depressing when everyone wore black and white.

      @jiml4987 Рік тому +1

      Evolution. People could only see in B&W like dogs until the 1950's. The proof is in the movie Wizard Of OZ where it started in B&W then switched into color.
