My 4 yr old "pibble" LOVES my neighbor's little children and will lie down on her belly, on the grass and let them flop all over her. She just smiles and wags her tail like crazy. She licks them and plays with them but never threatens or tries to hurt them. I don't leave them unsupervised of course, because she's big enough to knock them down accidentally. Their mom loves my dog and the kids adore her too, they hug her, kiss her, and tug on her ears and tail; she just eats it up, smiling all the time. She's 90 lbs of love and affection who lives with two cats. The cats RULE and she's very respectful of them. A dog of any breed, raised with love, affection and firm discipline (NOT punishment!) will be a good dog, whether a tiny Yorkie or a huge Great Dane.
AWW that's awesome
Indeed
Awwww so cute. Especially the pitbull that didn’t want dad touching the baby.
THAT WAS UNBELIEVABLE
I was 3. I went to my uncle's house with my dad. They wanted to play pool without a little girl running around their ankles and they got Princess. The giant husky wolf mix. Uncle made her look at me and said "princess, watch her!" She never left my side all day. According to my dad, I was napping on the rug and princess curled around me and stared at me and licked me. When my dad tried to take me away, she got in front of me and growled . She thought she was doing right. Not letting anyone near the small human. Bug dogs are often good with kids. Or at least the big dogs in my life. My childhood lab would have died for me and my family. Meanwhile I got attacked by a pomeranian in my sleep when I was 7. Small dogs are often more aggressive. I saw a mastiff shrink and whine when a chihuahua barked at it.

Bruh
All pit bulls should be exterminated
Firstly let me say I own a pitbull and think they are the most gentle, misunderstood breeds when properly trained and socialized. The problem I have with videos like this is a dog is still a dog no matter the breed. Accidents happen with any dog and when you have a large powerful breed like a pitbull, a sudden nip that the dog uses as a warning could seriously injure a child. Then the dog gets labeled as an aggressive dog and gets put down. It’s not about the breed, but any small child shouldn’t be all over a powerful dog without regard. It’s cute for UA-cam and likes and bullshit like that ,but Nothing good comes of it ever.
Some very good points ... the dog will not understand a poke in the eye is not deliberate but may react to protect itself
No dog should ever be allowed in a room with a young child without proper supervision being present
Avoid the mistake & prevent the accident ...
However soft a dog is they can be provoked & that could be disastrous
Yes, both the dogs and the children should be taught to respect each other and to know where the boundaries are. I've lived around these breeds my entire life. Boundaries and body language is the first thing my mother made sure I knew when it came to dogs.
That must be why a pit bull cross near to where I live killed a 10 year old bot about three weeks ago! Must be because they’re all so sweet and loveable that this lad died! I’m sorry but you pit bull or any bull breed lovers are delusional. They’ve got a bad rap because they’re unpredictable and not suitable family pets. I’m sick of hearing all the times that these type of dogs maim or kill kids. I love all dogs but I wouldn’t have a bull breed if they were the only breed on the planet!
I agree that all dogs can be dangerous but these types are bred for fighting. It’s in their make up. Once that red mist comes down for whatever reason, you cannot control them. It’s a bit late then to say that the kid pulled its ear or stuck it’s finger in the dogs eye. I will never be persuaded otherwise.

There are dog breeds that make pitbulls look like chumps. Here’s the thing with pit bulls , don’t keep them couped up . They like to run and play
Get them to see you as the alpha
Don’t mistreat them
Let them know certain actions have consequences and rewards
Teach them commands and tricks
Pittbulls learn quickly and are surprisingly smart . The problem is that you can train them to be nice to people and other dogs in your home but other dogs and animals are another story. Pittbulls like chasing wild animals even though they may never catch them like squirrels rabbits or deer. Here’s a tip walk them three or four times day.

This is completely false. They were never called nanny dogs.
Every pit bull I ever met has been a gooshy love bug
Our Staffordshire pit bull was a darling, protective, loving dog. Let's face it what better way is there to wake up with a dog trampling all over you, licking your face and then barking to be let out for a wee before he has his cheese or ham sandwich (I kid you not)? Then a bark to let you know the postman is nearby. This "killer" dog also loved rolling on his back so he could have a chest rub. I still miss him as he was part of the family.
"Sir, I must ask you to step away from my tiny human."
And this is how some kids get scarred on their face for life. Everyone's dog is the nicest and doesn't bite until it does.

You can't let a dog be around a newborn wait until they are three
Pitbulls are good dogs I have 3 my grandkids are here I will have them 1 more week that's sad because I can't really do anything.
So, since the comments are full of so many people with misunderstandings of pit bulls, here is just some general guidelines and information:
1. You shouldn't leave any dog (or any animal really) alone with small children. This isn't because these dogs are inherently aggressive (although if your dog has a history of aggressive behavior, it might not be the correct fit for a household with children), but because small children are notorious for being uncoordinated. What your baby sees is exploring and gentle touching to the dog is being poked in the eye and having your skin pulled at. Dogs cannot read human body language as well as humans can, so they might not interpret the same actions as non-threatening. Supervise your children, stop blaming dogs for people's inability to parent.
2. I think a lot of people don't realize that they're mistreating their dog. There's a lot of misconceptions out there about how to properly train a dog, the worst being the myth of "alphas" and "needing to establish dominance". This was based on a very old and very flawed study conducted on wolves (which are not the same thing as domesticated dogs) and in the corrected study they basically just found that wolves Follow a familial structure. Basically, stop trying to establish dominance over your dog (especially with stuff like nose smacking), just treat it like a member of your family and show respect to its boundaries. If you need to, take it to a proper trainer.
A lot of people are unintentionally abusing their dogs, and later confusing anxious dogs for obedient dogs, which in my opinion are the primary culprits of a lot of the mainstream examples of dog maulings. Yes, it IS about how you raise the dog, a lot of people just don't realize the extent to which abuse is common with all dog breeds. A lot of abusive behavior gets lumped in with this umbrella of "training", with it often only being recognized in blatant abuse like kicking or malnutrition, and so people don't have the proper framework to judge whether a dog had a history of aggressive behavior. These random attacks are not random, and in every new story I found there is usually something described by the owner that gives me pause about their treatment.
3. Statistical trends do not indicate any disproportionate amount of violence committed by any particular breed that is based in biology. Numbers might be larger for certain breeds (such as pit bulls), but when other important factors are taken into account (such as their use in dog fighting), the numbers are much more comparable to other breeds. It's not something inherent to the breed, but something inherent to the owners.
TL;DR people treat their pets like they are living creatures, and they're bad decision making leads to accidents. Just be smart, learn your dog's behaviors (like you would any other member of your family), and respect its boundaries. And for the love of God please stop talking about alphas.
here are some "statistics" you forgot to mention. Pitbulls represent 6 percent of dogs owned by people out there in the ethos, yet they are responsible for 58 percent of attacks so before you go bullshitting the public about violence not being inherent to the breed, a pitbull kills somebody every 14 days, they attack small children and small dogs due to their prey instincts, they attack when they interpret children or small dogs as threats to their food supply or even sometimes identifying them as food. So many people have made the mistake of leaving their pit near a newborn, who they trusted implicitly until it first attacked. you need to place some blame on the animal, if humans can be fallible than surely dogs can be too.
Am I the only one tht thinks that thsi is the most dangerous situation ever? I guess the parents do too ; thats why they wont leave the dog alone with the baby...

My sister owns a pitbull that lived with me for years. She's the sweetest girl ever and I trust her and have worked with her to teach her to respect me. In a situation where it was critical she listened to me, I called her name once and she came running to me. However I still don't think it's a good idea to have pits around toddlers and babies. Many dogs are great with babies but with pits, there's always even a 2% risk and that is 2% too much when it's a CHILD
