I just don't understand why CSGO's balancing team is so bad at balancing this weapon. The weapon easily could become more viable if the cocking time was reverted to its original stat, it was the damage in the first place that made this weapon broken. I wish they would look at this again, because I really wish I could have a pocket scout basically. The deagle is just so unfun to play.
Deagle already is a pocket scout, R8 literally needs to be removed from the game
@@prometheus705 It literally deals less than half of the damage of a scout and is very inaccurate after the first shot. It's not a pocket scout at all, just a slightly stronger AK shot.

@@grqfes Dude, it's not that it shouldn't be worse than a scout, it's that it should be viable at the very least. Even if it just dealt 60 damage to the torso, I would be fine with it, but even you must agree this thing should have a buff.
I think there are two problems with the Revolver: You lose the ability to use the Deagle (which is a GREAT pistol), and I think it is simply inferior to the Deagle unless you combine it with some nade strategy, which makes it super situational. Giving the players the choice to use both guns during the same match would be the real solution to get the weapons' "use rates" closer to each other.

they should just remove the alternative weapon system all together and just let people buy both guns in the same slot (like r8/deagle or m4a4/a1-s) if they want to, i dont see how it would affect much gameplay wise
@@kaiden8876 I think it's because the whole weapon choice system is left over from when the game was designed for consoles. Valve just doesn't want to rework it.
A good buff to the revolver would be to make right click cook it and left click shoot it. It'd still work as a double action if you only left click and if you right click while holding left click it does the fast fire
Add more ammo and reduce the damage enough so it can barely 2 shot anyone at any range if you hit chest but not leave them at literally 4 health if you only hit once
Sounds extremely good and it may be but cmon it'd be fun and it needs a buff anyways

The problem with that solution is that it pretty much removes the main disadvantage of cooking, which is having to track your enemies before shooting. If they implemented your suggestion, then most players would switch to the Revolver and I'm guessing only a minority would like the change. That is why Valve is having such a hard time balancing the weapon too: On paper, it is impossible to make the Revolver competitive with the Deagle without making it straight-up better than it.
@@Yveldi nah the main problem with the revolver is that at medium to short range you get destroyed by anything, you either shoot extremely slow and maybe get to shoot once or 2 tap right click and pray to the rng gods
Just letting ppl cook the gun reliably would let you shoot atleast once without your agent having a finger dysfunction
It would definitely help it, if I could pull the hammer in advance it would make the gun super rewarding on first shot hits, which is how the deagle feels without the added mechanic, I don't know why the guns can't just fill in for each other.
I mean it was kinda smart to introduce it being extremely OP so everyone would talk about it, then nerf it into the ground and people started playing csgo again :')
i was in a comp match where the entire other team was named "Cowboy" 1-5 and they only used the r8 revolver

This video is a masterpice, and I don't only say that because I'm a member of the R8 main casual players lol.
Way too few people look at this weapon more in-depth then "me can't play it, so it trash". While using this thing sure is a bit of a disadvantage over the deagle, it's just way too much fun to not do.
Also, the clips are absolutely glorious.
As a suggested change, I think the primary fire should change. If you hold it, it’ll fire like normal. But if you tap it, it’ll just cock the hammer back. Then, tapping it again will allow it to fire without delay.
Oh also, give it an actual reserve ammo. Why is it both shit and can only hold a single reserve clip?
@@soursylveon4784 the first change sounds smart but for the reserve ammo I’d have to say no, the damage that this gun does is exponential and by having low reserve ammo it teaches you to make your shots count. It’s an instant-kill shooting at the abdomen without armor which is insane if you bought it first round

i think that would be unbalanced because once you cock it its just a high damage deagle, the shooting delay is what seperates it from being that, having a way to remove the delay takes away the factor of it having a delay in the first place
how i would have done the revolver:
mouse 2 cocks the revolver
mouse 1 fires the revolver
if mouse 1 is pressed without cocking the revolver it shoots double action greatly reducing accuracy.

So what they could do is make left click pixel perfect accurate in run and mid-air and revo would be the funniest gun to use in the game tbh
You know this is already the case, right. Try it out, hold w and use left click. There's absolutely no accuracy penalty for movement.

The simplest fix for the revolver is once you hold down the mouse long enough to fire, it will wait until you release to fire. If they did that I am sure suddenly it would become better
I enjoy the R8. Situational, but at least at mid range and not close it's absolutely beast at clean headshots. I can't tell you how many times I predicted someone would come around a corner by them always running and I just hold the click a little and bam. When someone is in my face it's not so good, but other than that. Mid and long range it's absolutely decent. Always has been. People just mad they can't spam it.
Oddly. I've opened only a few crates. I'm not a wealthy man, but you know. Somehow I ended up getting 3 R8 factory new stat track revolvers. Expensive ones in the 25 crates I've opened in my lifetime.
The "Walker, Texas Ranger" theme took me back, thank you for the nostalgia.
Mainly because the deagle is in the game, which is a much more popular hand cannon. Really you can use either without any issue.

The worst change to the r8 is definetely giving it deagle accuracy. The only reason I bought a 10 euro skin for it is because it was my little pocket AWP

Me spamming the left click animation to precock the hammer so I can instantly tap ppl head or upper chest. R8 made the scout useless bc it's better in every aspect for less and comparable to an awp. (No zoom to be accurate, more rounds in the mag, slightly weaker damage but able to run and gun) I litterally use it for long range over everything else's bc it's works better in most aspect in my opinion. The awp is a 1 chest shot kill but primary and slow asf.
to be honest the most fun i had in csgo for a long time was when the overpowered revolver was added
tbh having a unique weapon that is useless is pretty pointless I think they should:
-remove fanning completely
-make it fire instantly like every other weapon
-increase its fire rate just a bit
then we'll have a weapon thats better than the deagle at long range (more accuracy and damage), but worse at close and medium range (lower fire rate, would still take two shots to kill armored opponents)

Dudes that cried about the Revolver are the same snipers on BF4 that had a skill issue when every dude was running around with a Mare's leg with a 7x or 8x scope and eating their ass while playing the objective.

Me who is better in revolver r8 than any other pistol: *visible confusion*
The perfect buff to the R8 would be:
Copy paste the exact same stats as it had originally.
Make the damage 86 (as it currently is)
Make it cost 600 (as it currently is)
Make the left/primary click take 0.25s to shoot.
Now, it's viable. The right click originally was innacurate but it wasn't as innacurate as it currently is. As it is, it's waaaay worse than even an unscooped AWP. The accuracy should be as great as it was originally because the primary shooting takes time, and this is a MASSIVE disadvantage on a game like CS.
I’ve been trying to say my hole life that the revolver could actually be good if mastered. And still no one believes me ;(

I recall 2021/22 and it seemed that I was the only person in MM that had the R8 equipped. It turns out, if you're using left click and holding W, there's no accuracy penalty for forward movement.

Why does a gun do more damage when hitting the stomach compared to the chest? In every other game it's the opposite.
I love to use the revolver. In my Csgo stats, it’s ranked as 6th for most kills.
I use it on CT side. During light eco rounds, I’ve caught out many terrorists running outside and racked up numerous multi kills, and even if i got no kills, I have probably lit one or two of them, making it easier for my team to finish them off. IMO it’s great for jiggle peek from mid to long range, even better if you have a nade to tag the enemy before they peek.
I play in LE / LEM lobbies and honestly I get by fine with it, I honestly find myself hitting headshots more often with revolver than deagle. If I could hit one deagles more consistently then I probably would replace my revolver. I can’t get by the idea that it’s a troll weapon tho.

The R8 sucks, but whenever I use it I get more kills than I think i would. It only has very situational uses, peeking ramp on mirage is a great example imo, anywhere there’s a choke point where you can just spam into a crowd during a rush is where I think it has potential. It’s basically a round 1 scout rifle and beyond that your kinda screwed

I started playing this game recently and I didn't know the revolver was so hated, I started using it a few days after I started playing and I literally can't go back to the deagle, the accuracy and power of this weapon is way too good.
I think the trade-off of the delayed shot is completely worth it because of what the weapon can do, it's very well balanced imo.
It’s weird that the r8 in 357 magnum has more damage and less rounds in reserve and is also heavier for some reason while the desert eagle in 50 ae has less damage and more rounds in reserve and is also lighter. It feels like it should be the other way around. If the deagle is the pocket awp, then the r8 should be the pocket scout. While the pull back mechanic is a unique idea, it is way too unrealistic. Speed it up a bit but have it still be slower than the deagle, get rid of the fanning alt fire, and with all these changes it could be a viable alternative I think.
Here is a fun fact. i made it to global elite solo q, and i was using R8 instead of deagle. didn't regret it at all. i actually carried it with me again to CS2 and never looked back.

If you open your mind, you can see that this weapon has uses, at long distances it becomes much better than the Deagle due to the very high accuracy of the mouse1 shot, the Deagle only has a really decent accuracy in its first shot, the revolver there is a delay, but what's the use of Deagle shooting fast since the shots lose a lot of accuracy from the second shot onwards, in high ranks what I said may not make sense due to the very good aim of the players, but in medium/low ranks this makes sense given the difficulty players have to hit 1tap with the deagle...
there is a community that apreciate the R8, the hacker vs hacker community (they dont cheat against normal players and only cheat in community servers made for it), they use dualies, deag, R8, scout, awp and autosnipers mainly
i truly believe dima is better with stupid weapons then normal weapons

I really can't understand this logic. The R8 has been almost completely pushed out of the meta. It's rare to see somebody rocking it because the Deagle is just so much better. The only situation where the R8 is somewhat useful is long range but the long trigger pull makes it not worth the trouble usually.
It's a nice gun. I'll give you that. But the engraving gives you no tactical advantage whatsoever.

I love the R8 just because managing to right click headshot the last guy in a pistol round with the last round is such a flex, only happened a few times, but i had gotten 5 kills with it that round so
Revolver is a solid C.
Its the only gun that is accurate while moving, and is best used at medium ranges.
Its essentially a pocket scout except situationally better as ur accurate without needed to stop.
But worse since its a bit slower overall.
For 800 dollars. Its a very solid balance.
Honestly people are sleeping on this like they do with the aug/sg.
Problem is that the deagle is just a more all rounder weapon to have over an r8 , hence the usage will remain 0 for r8

My Dad loves the R8 for some reason and has at least 500 kills on a stattrack one. Some weird history that got him to this point is that he's been playing since 1.6, got attached to source, played csgo when if first came out but the computer broke, and ever since we got a new computer just a few years ago and told him about csgo (again cuz he forgot it exists) and how certain weapons can be changed out, mostly so he can change the p2000 to the USP, But I also told him about the *other* guns. Big mistake. he's only ever been using the R8 no matter how much I tell him that the Deagle is just a better option. I kinda given up at this point to convince him but as long as he's having fun, it's alright.
I’m not gonna trust some “pros” who think the only way to play the game is to deep throat an AK47. The revolver is one of the most fun weapons in the game, right up there with the shotguns.

I think it would be better if valve didn't give it a fake trigger pull mechanic. Only the first shot should have a delayed trigger, the rest instant.

Hey, I'm a month late to the party. The R8 is my favorite weapon, solely for style and for making a 'statement'. That statement being that I can't hit with the Deagle.
I think this mechanic with pullback of revolver should be in a first place.

The pullback actually balanced it bc skilled players precock the hammer constantly until ur gonna shot witch lead to noises to makes this op one shot 100% accuracy rate balanced. I'm pretty sure they recently buffed the secondary fire making it more accurate bc I keep hitting these cowboys shots and 16 shots from a mini sniper is far more than enough
