"And that we really are still convicted by the message that were saying in our music, I don't want it to ever come across like I've just memorized it" This is so so so very important |-/
I'M LAUGHING SO HARD IT WAS LIKE GUNS FOR HANDS AND ALL CHEERFUL AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN TRUCE CAME ON AND GOT ALL SAD AND IT QUICKLY ZOOMED IN ON TYLER'S FACE AND HE WAS JUST LIKE "one year, my mom didn't know what to get me for christmas"
around 1:29 when tyler is explaining his keyboard christmas gift i started singing "when i was, a young boy, my mother, didnt knowwhattogetme for christmas, so shegotme a toykeyboard" in the tune of welcome to the black parade
could anybody else fall asleep to Tyler's voice? It's so calming I could literally make a playlist of his interviews and play it at night to fall asleep
+Sara Stewart My mom did actually fall asleep yesterday watching an interview and when she woke up she was like "that dude has a fucking calming voice" ... I didn't even know she used the word 'dude'...
"it was mostly dudes ... you know to each his own ..." and the interviewer completely buys it :D i love how comfortable tyler is with himself to make these kind of jokes ! (or maybe bi!ty but pshhh xD)
did anyone else notice how pretty their eyes are in this video?! it started with josh's - they're like this beautiful hazel/green color and tyler's are a really unique brown.. idk i've watched like a thousand and one interviews with them but i've never noticed their eyes before
had to watch it like 5 times just bc I was too busy jamming to the songs and getting lost in their faces *also the full of your dp is my wallpaper woop*
Tyler is actually spot on about wanting the bartender (or anyone else who works at a music venue) and needing them to think your show is great out of all the ones they see. I know from working at a venue myself, that sometimes the night's can all blend together and you stop paying attention unless you already know the band playing, so it is important to get their attention. That says something! :)
I'm so glad that Tyler didn't start instruments until he was in his late teens because I want to do this stuff, but I don't have any instruments. It's kind of reassuring because I feel like there's an expectation that you've had to have played since you were 4
Ikr i used to know someone who thought I didn't have motivation to learn any instruments because i didnt start learning until a few months ago. She acted like she was better than me because she was learning piano since she was 4
i feel so left out on all this because im only 14 so im only now starting to branch out from the pop radio music im familiar with and its only been about 8 month or so that I've been juggling with unfamiliar sounds and finding the weirdest most unknown bands and on my way i found MGMT and twenty one pilots (they're pretty well known) and I've kinda heard mgmt as a kid because of my mom but only became a fan about 5 month ago and recently re-discovered twenty one pilots and i feel so connected to them idk how to explain it but like everyones like "Oh been here this 2011! still love them!" and its like oh... I've been here about 2 weeks and I've been stalking them hard core lmao like just finding everything i can about this band like why they formed, who they are why they do what they do and all that and idk i feel pretty late on that and im trying to catch up haha.
Pinkvibes thesweatergirl hey it aight you're never late to the party when it comes to music because music is just like…it's about you, ya know? if you connect with the music then who cares if everyone else has heard it before? But yeah I get like, wanting to talk about how you feel with people, but don't feel like you're doing something wrong if people are already familiar with the things you're new to. Tyler just said he didn't start music until he was 17, and most artists it seems start their craft at like, fetal stage. But they're still AMAZING. Same goes with actually GETTING INTO music too. It's all okay!!! The important thing is that YOU'VE discovered something you connect with :)
Pinkvibes thesweatergirl hey never worry about what other people think/say about your music taste! it is unique and special to you and you alone, it's not a race or a competition. the only metric that you should judge music on is if it speaks to you, like that "connected" feeling you described. if it gives you that warm feeling in your chest that's all that matters. :D
We're like the same person omg. I only found out about them when their "Stressed Out" video came out and I really connected to that song. I've really connected to most of their songs and there's just something about them that will always feel special to me.
it gave me chills just seeing that little live part of house of gold. wish i could of seen them when they toured with fob and p!atd. hope they come to my city soon
They really do put on a memorable show. I will never forget when they came to Brisbane, Australia and had an entire stadium, most who hadn't heard of them before, dancing and having a great time.
I feel like I'm a late bloomer on real music too. This year has been the year where only music has been there for me and only music can explain how I feel. I discovered real music about a year a ago when I found Coldplay and then I found thousands of other great bands and twenty one pilots is one of them. I'm 12 now but I feel like I should've discovered music earlier in life and now the only thing I live for is music.
Maricruz Ruiz I am 20 now, and at least for me, the music that I listened to when I was 12 has influenced me and helped shape my identity just as much if not more than any music I listened to before or since. I was a bit different than you in that I was exposed to a lot of music early on in my life including children's songs on cassette tapes, classic rock records, my brother's alternative punk pop CDs, beatles and rolling stones count downs on the radio, classical music lessons, etc. but looking back 12 was really when I started listening to songs on my own and connecting to them on a personal level that I claimed as an experience separate from others identities...in other words, it's a great time to discover music and what you click with.
So this comment might be a little long but I wanna say this. I saw twenty one pilots at The Next Big Thing in FL in 2012 and I fell in love with them. It was everything Tyler said, I honestly loved their set and thought "wow these guys are amazing and really know how to put on a show." There is only two of them but they have such a huge stage presence and they just go for it and when you watch them play, you can tell how passionate they are and that can be rare now a days. I'm so happy I found them because Tyler and Josh are just inspiring people and when I listen to their music I always feel something and I just can't describe it. I love that their songs mean something and the lyrics aren't your typical bullshit that have no meaning like some of today's music, it really makes you think. I love when a song does that, when it sparks something inside of me and I wanna listen again and again just to find the meaning and it inspires me to write. Honestly Tyler and Josh are two very talented people and you know they work so hard and that are really passionate about what they play and you really do feel this connection when your at their shows, cause they care and that's amazing, (also they have amazing calves lol). But they deserve so much success and I hope to go to another concert soon.
“I’m trying, I’m trying to sleep. OOOOOOH OOOH OOOH OOOH OOH OOOOH OOOH!!!” I also love how their all smiling and laughing and it’s playing guns for hands but then as soon as Tyler talks about Christmas and how he didn’t know what to get it plays truce
Tyler is literally me. My aunt got me a guitar in 5th grade and I was like “yeah this is dumb” and one day I started playing and I loved it and still do. And I don’t leave my house
the guys really do put on amazing shows. they first time i saw them they were the second to last band to perform for my local radio station's little summer show. i only knew one song but walked away that night wanting to listen to everything they've put out. i've never seen such an energetic group or such a pumped up crowd.
I think this might have been the first interview of them I ever watched back in 2014. It's a weird nostalgia going back and watching it now. So much has changed for these two guys and they deserve all the success.

I will never leave my house too.

He knew that dreams are dead and life turns plans on their heads. And so he planned to be a bum so he became someone.
I think I have learned more from Tyler than I have with my own Parents...

I don't know why, but i feel like Tyler was going to cry every time he speaks. :( but his smile is gorgeous!
I get that feeling too and I don't know if he does a vocal warmup called
"Vocal Fry" which makes your voice raspy-like or that's just how he speaks.
yeah! i find it rly comforting though
Xquavius Ellison it might be an ohio thing because i do that a lot (not sure about the dialects or whatevs)

you don't need instruments to be a musician.
write lyrics, create melodies using your voice! do what inspires you

Josh: *Akwardly chuckles
Me: Falls on floor, dead.
Spongebob Sucks josh and his laugh tho
Good questions, very interesting answers.
Both funny and intelligent, I'll never get bored listening to them talk.
interviewer: so did you start a band for chicks?
tyler: no, it was mostly for dudes
THIS IS WHY TYLER IS THE BEST
and that look in his eyes when he said it. he knew exactly what he was doing
Tyler's hair is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen

That interviewer is really good!
They really do put on a memorable show. I will never forget when they came to Brisbane, Australia and had an entire stadium, most who hadn't heard of them before, dancing and having a great time.

that's exactly how i found out about them, when they came to sydney i had no idea who they are, and now they're my two biggest inspirations

5:47 Tyler's laugh makes me melt 😍
THE SONGS IN THE BACKGROUND DISTRACTED ME SO MUCH
MY MOOD JUST DROPPED HOW ARE THEY GONNA GO FROM GUNS FOR HANDS TO TRUce this is not okay
WHAT HOUSE OF GOLD PERFORMANCE WAS THAT
“I’m trying, I’m trying to sleep. OOOOOOH OOOH OOOH OOOH OOH OOOOH OOOH!!!”
I also love how their all smiling and laughing and it’s playing guns for hands but then as soon as Tyler talks about Christmas and how he didn’t know what to get it plays truce

the guys really do put on amazing shows. they first time i saw them they were the second to last band to perform for my local radio station's little summer show. i only knew one song but walked away that night wanting to listen to everything they've put out. i've never seen such an energetic group or such a pumped up crowd.
Did anyone else notice in the credits it said 'a special thanks to Emo's' 7:09
That was the venue name they played at.
i love how genuine they are about what they do and their music
They are probably the best people to watch in interviews. They are so funny and cool.
I love this interview. It's got the right balance between jokey and serious and that's what I love about these two! Also the cuteness
Love their interviews
That cut from Car radio's music video to the interview made me think for a second that it's still part of the music video
I cant express how in love with both of them I am
When the beat was about to drop in Car Radio and they switched it to House of Gold was the most disorienting thing I've ever experienced
The way they zoomed in on Tyler's face❤️
I think this might have been the first interview of them I ever watched back in 2014. It's a weird nostalgia going back and watching it now. So much has changed for these two guys and they deserve all the success.
For some reason I’ve always really loved this interview
In the credits it says "emos" for the special thanks section omg
They make me smile so much I love them❤
I love them so fucking much
"Time is of the essence... because eventually you've lost all the time that you have." that hit me really hard idk why
I think this is one of the most comfortable interviews I've ever seen
Thank god Tyler's mother. You inspired such an amazing man.
They make me so emotional
