Thanks to Derry girls I can now understand Irish accent without subtitles 😂
That's just one Irish accent there's loads on such a smile island, I'm from Limerick I've a different accent to other people from different parts in Limerick that's just one example
@@christophercrowley7574 yeah I know that but it's still very helpful :)
Sorry to break it to you but the northern Irish accent (one of them) is the only one of many Irish accents
@@Zoe-eg4fg like I said previously I know that :) but the show helped regardless.
Had being in eg,and as English people don’t come with sub titles
Saoirse-Monica Jackson is truly a light-hearted, down-to-earth person. And she's also a very talented actress! The first time I saw her in Derry Girls (which was also the first time I've seen her at all), I already knew that she is incredible.
She played an arrogant/annoying character so well that I started to love it
@@humanhater2266 We all, love.
Great girl. Förlåt.
Jag var finare migsjälv
Han var roligare än jag trodde. , kunde inte prata med en så rolig människa
One of the best comedy shows I've seen in a while. The whole cast was awesome and I love that accent. All of them are so charming.
What is it about these kids that brings tears to my eyes. It's not just the fact that the characters are my contemporaries. There have been many nostalgic programs over the years but none of them have felt like the warm blanket that is Derry Girls.
im australian and have no connection to northern ireland but i totally agree!
Indeed. I'm an American, Baptist, male, but this show cuts deep.
Det funkade sisådär.
@@wvu05 How do you say "International"?
Exactly like
They say that
Fry can do the Austrailian
He can.
I just know that whenever I see this, I will tear up. I never thought I would love another sitcom again, and yet Lisa McGee and her team proved me wrong. A brilliant, heartfelt, madcap ride of a show. My love and best wishes to the entire time always for giving us this beautiful gift.
Patsy Stone and Erin Quinn, this is everything 😂
Omg I love Patsy so much
If Joanna Lumley could present in Patsy’s voice LOL
I am a 52 yr old and am not ashamed to say I had my pic taken in front of the mural-I love the Derry Girls.
26+6. May Ireland have peace and oneness again one day.
Joanna is just class. Saoirse-Monica seems so proud of Derry and so she should me. I think all off us - just a little bit - want to be Derry Girls!
Never been to Derry, but have been to Belfast. Murals are a thing. Give reason to think about what transpired and peace. Derry Girls as a mural are a real and deserved honor. What a great show!!
I just finished watching Derry Girls on Netflix and it’s easily one of my favorite shows now ❤
I've been to Derry, it's such a lovely place with warm people and a ton of History they can be proud of. Recognising places in Derry Girls was so much fun, besides the fact that the show in itself is grand.
I just love the way they say “girls” in the Derry accent
That show really got me exited to go to Ireland especially Derry
Two absolute legends in this vid
This is so wholesome it made me want to start watching the show
Please do!!!! Its so fun
It's the best thng that's been on television in years
@@lsamoa 100% it was but now it's over but better end at the top rather than drag it put for years
@@johnrockyryanthats what british/irish shows do well, they always end on a high note. they’ll only be a few seasons long but they’ll be quality till the end. american shows will flog a dead horse, they keep it going until its not funny
As someone who lives away from home, this show really helped in keeping me connected to my roots.
That’s so brilliant, people amaze me sometimes with their abilities and talents.
I love the mural especially the one for derry girls, it's amazing and phenomenal.
what a series. great work.
This was so cute. Lumley looks fantastic. ❤
Not sure, if i will visit ireland, but if I do, i will go and visit Derry. I loved the show so much ❤️
That was absolutely fabulous!
I love Joanna. I watch all her documentaries
They are both so charming.
Great mural!
I *love* her lovely lilting Irish accent too! I could listen to her reading a recipe book aloud and I'd be spellbound!
Good comedy requires good characters and good writing. Great comedy gives us pathos and superb characters and sublime writing. M.A.S.H. in it's later seasons managed that. Derry Girls did it from day 1.
The Undertones and Derry Girls, all from the one city, perfect
Fantastic show fantastic cast.
Derry girls one of the best shows ever
This show is amazing
I loved this show! ❤️ ¡Me encanto este show!
Joanna Lumley is a treasure!
Enjoyed so much. A millennial from Canada and so much translated for me. Well done. Will miss it!
Is her accent even more Derry than in the show?
Love both these ladies!
Thank you.
I'm a fan of Derry girls from 🇵🇭 and I watched it from Netflix. I hope to visit there someday.
I love Derry Girls and isn't Joanna Lumley not just the best person in the world?
Love both these ladies
Love the show ❤️❤️❤️
Joanna has been my life long crush , l adore her voice.
You wouldn't get a show like Derry Girls on BBC and ITV. This is why Channel 4 is the best channel in the world.
You are 100%, sir. I've said this for years. Channel 4 is the reasin I love Asian cinema. They were the first terrestrial chaannke to show The Exorcist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and their documentaries are always too class. Bravo C4.
@@deanmccauley1356 They also make most of the UK's best shows, films and actors too.
Channel 4 are epic. Always wondering if BBC or ITV would've made things like Queer as Folk, Skins or It's A Sin? Even things like Hollyoaks touched topics that I don't believe have ever been touched by the big two soaps.
Their documentaries are also brilliant. A completely different UK to the one that BBC like to show.
@@DarrenBates Most of the shows that the US go on to steal from us are from Channel 4.
Absolutely fabulous pair (pun intended). This brilliant show was never shown on Australian "free to air" TV. I discovered the Derry Girls on UA-cam by chance and quickly became obsessed with the story and the characters. I'm ordering a DVD of all 3 series from England.
Love Derry Girls!
I really want to visit Derry x
Poor James, even in mural form he gets shafted 😂
omg I love this
Brilliantly funny and clever show👍❤️
That place is beautiful hopefully I will be able to travel to Ireland someday
the food is great. very fresh
@@carolperry7695 So true! Amazing food
A well deserved mural.
Wonderful 😊💕☘️
Immense Respect for Joanna Lumley and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. Good on ya lass!
Two icons out on the town.
Plenty of scope to portray the famous seige in movies. The mural is great and highlights positive.
Two wonderful women.
I absolutely loved the series. What amused me was that my wife and her mum, both from Dundee couldn't understand the Derry accent - ! 😅
That's awesome
I love this accent
you can never have enough hats, gloves and shoes.💕
God I love the Derry Girls!
Lumley is so cool
Lol I take being from here for granted sometimes I see this all everyday
Gotta say love how they're both dressed so similarly, especially the scarfs 😅
"the town that I love so Well ..."
Saoirse-Monica Jackson's Wikipedia article is illustrated with her portrait from the mural.
Such a sweet girl.
🤍 Derry Girls!
Derry Girls, a fun look at a serious subject
I wondered what mirrors they were talking about and it's murals. :)
Mirrors in Derry is pronounced Mirr's, that's how you can tell 😅.
It's ERIN!!!
Ok at first as a guy ferry girls didn’t seem like it was appealing to me but I fell in love with it
I was there yesterday and it is way bigger in person 😂
hmm the title of the vid could do with being changed from 'mosaic' to 'mural'
I dont know how, but I wish I would have known this show was on a long time ago. Is it still on and can I see it in the USA?
I think Netflix has it for US viewers.
Derry Girls ended after three seasons. The creator felt she had gone as far as she could, especially considering the cast are a lot older than their characters. So only 19 episodes to enjoy.
The mural has been slightly updated: Michelle now holds up three fingers to indicate three series.
Shortly after Derry Girls bring Saoirse to Doctor Who to portray the brand-new attractive companion for the Fourteenth Doctor and besides film acting also must have an opportunity to do voice talents on cartoons, cgi gaming and anime with english dubs.
Ahhhhh
Does that sign on the bottom left say “Dairy Girls” instead of Derry? Is that Gaelic?
No it's not Gaelic 😅 I'm guessing it's an ice cream stand or something. The Irish (Gaelic) for Derry is "Doire".
What episode of Joana Lumley's Britain is this?
The one where she left Britain 😂
Derry is not in Britain!
Derry Girls have done good.
For a lot of people.
God, she’s gorgeous.
Who?
"I'm Batman" (blurp) 😂
The USSR was also mad keen on Murals.
Only 3 seasons is a crime 😭
In With a bite drinking be easier

I like the solitude
It’s very similar to hill billy the Southern accent.
Derry = The Undertones
What is the 'Dairy Girls' sign? A pun, or the reason the mural is where it is? 1:54
Its an ice cream 🍦 shop
Can you not recognise a pun when you see one lol 😆
@@ryanmcconnell5740 Which was there first?
@@OscarTahr the Tv show, then the mural, then the ice cream
@@ryanmcconnell5740 Thanks 👍
As someone who is Irish by ancestry and American by birth, I can relate to Derry Girls. My grandad immigrated from Ireland around the times of The Troubles. Growing up I would hear stories of the hardships of him growing up their. Yet, some cultural elements remain true, here is the U.S.
Joanna Lumley’s “Britain”?
Derry, or londonderry? Personally I refer to it as "I can't believe it's not belfast".
Derry. Has always been Derry. Doire is the Irish for Derry, goes all the way back to the 500s when Saint Columba was there. "London" was added by the protestants in the 17th century.
"but now they're also being used in a positive way" Brits out was positive I'd have said.
Poor James didn't fare too well in the mural.
Derry is a far better city than Belfast
O i agree 100% even i want to move to River Side closed to my mentor
Joanna Lumley’s ‘Britain’ ?! 🙄
Was thinking the same Conor.Surprised it wasnt changed to Londonderry Girls to suit their narrative 🙄
@@ryanshannon2011 wash your mouth out 🤣
@@ryanshannon2011 ~ the city is officially called Londonderry. London is removed to suit another narrative.
Yeah they need a bit of a geography lesson....
Think BBC would know the difference between Britain and the UK
Real Britain couldn't give a shite about the North of Ireland.
Derry / Londonderry depending on your persuasion........
Live and let live.
Ireland not Britain
imma tell my kids this is mt. rushmore
LOVE THIS !!!❤
I can see them playing grandmother and granddaughter...just sayin'.
this is Ireland.....
Actually Northern Ireland. Ireland lies to the South (Republic) and believe it or not, one county to the far North too.
@@dj3114 yeah....the island is Ireland...not Britain...therefore the show's title is inaccurate...simples...
@@dj3114 What island do you think Northern Ireland is on? Not Britain....
@@lsamoa So your point is that because the whole island is referred to as Ireland (geographically), therefore it is - and all the same? How many countries are in the United Kingdom? How is Scotland different than England?- it's on the same island.
@@dj3114 So according to you Northern Ireland is in Britain because Scotland is? lol. Geography not your strong suit is it. There's no debate to be had around this, love. Ireland is not Britain, and Northern Ireland is not in Britain. End of. The UK is called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Notice how Northern Ireland is not included in Great Britain. Because it 👏is👏not👏in👏Britain. Do we need to draw you a map??
