Three cheers for Linh and her outboard motor maintenance job completed successfully! Had to laugh when she dropped to drain plug into the dirty oil and she had to go "fishing" for it, messing up her pretty nails! She showed us her "guns" when she had to lift the lower end unit off the main skeg. Lining up that pin isn't an easy task for anyone let alone a pretty and petite rookie wrench turner! All in all a great job, surprising Teal from his slumber to see what the heck was going on! Great passage to from port to port. Bet that shark will stay clear of the next catamaran that comes around.
Excellent job on the outboard repair. You did an excellent job of nursing Teal back to health. He seems back to his usual self. The stuff great relationships are made of. Have a great 4th of July
Compass stole the show. Get better Teal.... Linh you are an awesome lady to tackle the outboard with wine... ha ha. God bless. PS everyone drops the drain plug in the oil.
Wow! Good job Linh.... so funny as soon as you fired up the motor, ole boy came popping out of the hatch like someone was steeling his dinghy! 😂😂 you all are awesome! Cheers 🍻
I'm a marine mechanic and what I saw on the outboard motor service was very well done. That engine happens to be one of the easier motors to do a lower unit service on but, impressive non the less.
Take good care Basik crew. I'd rather have late or skipped videos than pressure you to upload videos when you're under the weather:) Love you guys, thank you for another entertaining and educational video. 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
Hope you feel better soon Teal. Looks like Linh has things under control, wife, mother, master chef, goes up the mast, and now outboard repairer!! (Yeah she is definitely a keeper!! LOL) Great episode guys! Fair winds and following seas Basik!!
Remember Linh, they edit their videos for time too! You did great with the impeller repair! Best way to keep the pin in place in the impeller is with a tad of Vaseline. Roll the pin in the Vaseline and put it in the impeller worry free. Nice video!
Teal, sorry that you where sick. But hey, wake up you have great friends and especially your family, how about giving them some recognition and a thank you sometimes (more than you do), they back you up well and support you. Yes I have owned boats a long time too. So pull your boof-head in and give a simple thanks. Cheers mate, take care and the comment is said lightly and with a little humour as a lot of us guys forget there is a team required to sail and run a family or a racing boat.
Good old Coos Bay. Back in the the mid-80's the Coast Guard ship I was on had been hit by a freak wave that came over the stern while service buoys on that bar. The water came into the air vents and down into the engine room shorting out the diesel electric panels. Luckily they were able to drop anchors and drift back into the channel without going aground. I arrived during the shipyard repairs and we got a new diesel/electric controls that weren't original design to the 1944 control systems. Watching Linh do the little outboard service work reminds me of repairs I did on a Mariner 225HP outboard that I needed to replace the original lower unit for an upgraded unit. Did that in the water with a little play inflatable boat which was all fine until when I put the replacement lower unit in scraped the really sharp skeg unit against the inflatable and it was a race against the deflation to get the new lower unit in place and one or two bolts in place before my little inflatable deflated, a little duct tape and some air and the job was completed...
Linh, gear oil stinks. You didn't mention that. No gloves either. Great job Basik. Linh and Emma taking on projects sends such a positive message to people and women in particular. Just do it. Cheers.
Good of you to take on the impeller replacement. (Surely to start with its good to check the water intake area for clogs and see that the out take hose isnt blocked).
Been wondering what became of the drone? Good skills right there Linh. Amazing what we lean on youtube eh? I have learned heaps from your channel. Thanks
Great job Linh, wine is always a good starter and helps the body loosen up. I think it was terrific to see that you were willing to tackle that outboard problem and get it resolved, it takes two to make a team and with Emma's help your sure to succeed.Good to see Teal got better. Fair winds and safe travel.
"The first thing I do is pour a glass of Wine." Now that should be step 1 of any project :-) Great job Linh!! When she started that engine, Teal came up out of that hatch like there was a fire on board LOL
Great Job Linn.......Best trick for the slow water stream is do a “salt away” treatment. They sell it at West Marine. Just flush through your engine several times per the instructions. If we are not going to run the engine for a while, I leave it it the engine to help protect and prohibit salt build up.
Linh not only did you fix the motor you didn't spill any wine. What's the next project.... Glad your feeling better Teal. I hope you all had a grea Independence Day. : ) peace
Interesting to see how even social distancing, ppe precautions and being isolated on a boat, a common virus can still be spread to you. Doesn't say a lot for what is going to happen to the rest of us.
Great job Lihn! just a little grease on the shaft will hold the key in place next time you change the impeller:) I think your going to start a trend, have a drink before starting any maintenance. Sounds like a plan to me! Stay safe guys
Wow Linh, good job for taking on that project! Just goes to show you can do anything if you put your mind to it, and Emma too for stepping up to help. Glad Teal is better. Stay safe and healthy. You guys are an amazing family. Note: pick up a magnetic wand, so next time you stick the wand in and the magnet picks up the bolt rather than your hand in the oil.
I would be willing to 100% guarantee that Teal has at least one onboard. However with the speed he popped up when they fired the engine, asking him where it was would give the game up.
OH MY HEAVEN ! Did I just see what I think I just saw ? AND SHE DID IT WHIT A SMILE... ok, a wine smile but still ! WOW. I want a girl like that. Marc from Montreal.

Nice tools, the mrs did a good job of the impeller change.
She nailed it.
I'm a marine mechanic and what I saw on the outboard motor service was very well done. That engine happens to be one of the easier motors to do a lower unit service on but, impressive non the less.

Good to see you on the move.
Welcome to the Dropped Drain Plug Club!
There are two types of people the ones that admit they are in it and the ones that lie about it.
Best impeller vid I’ve seen - should go in the video description 😃⚓️🔧🔧
Super episode, great job on the outboard.
OK Ferris Bueller, glad to see that you got better. Keep staying safe.

Linh, what a wonderful job on the outboard service, you are quite talented. Loved the video.
Your channel is pretty neat ! I work on that blue boat across from you guys at the Coos Bay/Charleston harbor. F/V Dynamik.

Linh, gear oil stinks. You didn't mention that. No gloves either. Great job Basik. Linh and Emma taking on projects sends such a positive message to people and women in particular. Just do it. Cheers.
Lol, I didn't know about the smell or the fact that it lingers 9n the skin for days! Oh well, lesson learned. 🤷♀️😂
Good of you to take on the impeller replacement. (Surely to start with its good to check the water intake area for clogs and see that the out take hose isnt blocked).
Great job Linh! You show us how. Hope Teal is feeling much better. Love your videos.

lol The bolt or plug almost always ends up in the oil. Good job Linh. 😊
You should stencil a shark on the bow.
Awesome job Linh. 👍 I really, really enjoy your channel. Hats off to you all.

Well done!
Great job Lynn! Done with style may I say, and also nursing a sick captain! You need to take the job of Commadore!
perhaps a basking shark?
Not sure what type but definitely a shark. We wanted to come about and video it but we were under full sail and clipping along at a good pace.
You all are such a hoot....Cheers from Wyoming, where sailboats are a rarity....
Great job Linh, so proud of you! What can’t you do?
Hey Teal, now you're better, that mainsail is looking a bit grubby mate 😜 can't be having that on such a nice clean vessel 🤣😜
Good work lihn love the wine with work, I do the same but with beer
Best DIY E V E R !
Agree!
Good job Lihn. I've had to fish out drain plugs during my oil changes too. Hoping Teal is better now that the video has aired.
