The first part is correct. For scheme, we do markdown calculation on the PTR. That is why, we first find the discount on PTR and then the final margin.

It depends on the category. Example - for food products it is 8% to 12%. For cosmetic product it can be as high as 15%. It also depends on the type of company and STR of product. Large companies who enjoys high product STR gives lesser margin. New companies with low product STR tends to give higher margin.
