Today is the day boys! Taking my 500hp turbo d16 sohc Honda Civic to the 1/4 mile drag races! It was just a simple test and tune day but I figured a lot out about the car! I have a pretty good game plan and will be back out soon to try and break into the 11's!

They could have prepped your lane with more primer
Definitely didn't sound like it had all the power there. Compared to your street rips it sounded like it was struggling.
ya on the street it feels insanely fast!
Prepped surface always plays a huge role in that. More traction, more load.
Sticky track my dude
@@eeezeejs Wrong, it was definitely down on power, stick tracks lead to broken axles or good 60 foto times.... not to lower trap speeds by 10+ mph.... that is also not the launch or rip of a 500whp EG, sry. its just not. for instance my friends 550whp EG cx teal hatch, went 136mph in the quarter, and it was violent as fuck.
@@b00stedrust It's not down on power at all. It's a 1.6L running a decently sized turbo on a prepped track. Unless you're shifting the hell out of that thing it's going to fall flat on its face on a prepped track. The street's a whole other story because of the fact that its about 100x easier to shift when it's spinning (no load on the trans). So no, I'm not wrong. He just needs to drive the car lol.
Your video game is on point lately. Good, frequent content, thanks for that!
i second that!
Took me a while to get back into it but I'm enjoying it a lot lately!
How does this 2500lbs car with 500whp run 14’s🤦♀️ something doesn’t add up. Driver mod?
lag lag lag, spin, shift, lag lag lag, spin, It's the old adage 'power is nothing without control'
First time at the track, super skinny wheels, no traction, etc. Can't wait to watch this car get more dialed in.
@@1gt4dude no. Trap speed tells all. The car is not making 500hp on these passes. Or anywhere close to it.
@@taylordarr3 no. I agree.
@@johnnyfranko-topic578 I've got well over 100 passes down the drag strip lol. We are discussing the times vs claimed power.
Bro you just ain’t giving it the beans you driving like a granny
Facts
Go to amazon I think u may need a driver mod 😂😂😂
Were is Brent at?
lol
@@MotionAutoTv I didn't see you comment about how it would lock you out of gear for a second before it finally goes in. I feel like if you get a better tranny for her you will easily run a high 11 or a low 12 with the street tires. When you run the slicks maybe a high 10? But I would run slicks on a stronger tanny, you will definitely blow that d- series up launching on slicks
Grannie shifting not double clutching like you should 😊
My thoughts exactly 😂😂
Was running her like he was looking for a parking space! Embarrassing
1. Better launch (more traction)
2. Faster shifts
3. Higher rev shifts
You should be good
Ain't no race car driver? So, he is a race car driver?
1. Better launch (more traction)
(500hp on shitty tires)
2. Faster shifts
(read the top comment about the trans)
3. Higher rev shifts (read the top comment about the trans)
Please please please get your child some hearing protection, preferably ear plugs plus ear muffs and don't cheap out on the ear muffs. That poor girl is going to have tinnitus or worse.
Shut up she'll be fine.
You think he's going to listen to a guy named horse D?
@@hectorgalvan8674 If he Trevor has even half the brain that I believe he does he would definitely listen to me.
As someone who suffers tinnitus from my own decisions I would be awfully upset if someone caused that bullshit for me, especially considering prolonged exposure could actually cause hearing loss and seeing as she's a child I would imagine her hearing is even my likely to be injured at similar or less volume than an adult.
My name from a movie, the fuck does it matter?
Why you granny shifting
You want the boost? YOU CANT HANDLE THE BOOST
Bruh that Miata just trapped 134 mph.. What in gods name?
K series in it ?
Turbo the size of your head looks like its pulling crazy hard on the big end....
One strange one yup
F20c with good sized turbo! Super cool car
Honda s2000 motor with a big big turbo
It's running a little slower than expected. Hopefully you can get her in the 10s at some point!
Me too!
@@johnnyfranko-topic578 10.90's is 10's, stop embarrassing your self
14 second 500hp Honda. This checks out.
That clip of your daughter crying while you were racing was adorable 😭
That granny shifting tho.. You need Kyle to teach you how to miss third.
There a dozen different reasons your ET is what it is, like traction, launch, etc, but the concerning thing is the MPH. It should still be trapping way more than 110 IMO
Boom. That sure looks like a high 200-low300 whp passes.
500whp should at least run 11.0 to 12.0 or even a 10.99 at 118+mph. Also row less gears. That costs time as well.
118+? try 125+, my 302whp full interior, stock motor 98 integra gsr.. with a 57 trim t3/t04e... went 113.7mph, stock trans, suspension, diff...rims...
It probably don’t make 500hp until 6k rpms lol
@@randabuffer6562 welp thats bummer. Does it depend on the tune where it makes power in Honda's?
@@b00stedrust i think at least 120+ mph would be a good speed in 500whp. Maybe its his gears, trans and front diff. The tune also depends on it.
@@DeShakeel shrug I went 124mph in full weight Integra.. with 416whp ... I'd be seriously disappointed in anything under 128 with a 500whp ej8
500hp and runs 14’s at 109mph. You need to get your money back.
@@johnnyfranko-topic578 the 90 some hp civic is 2 seconds slower.
This car is nowhere near 500hp in this video.
And 500 hp in a 2500lb car is fast, plain & simple....
@@johnnyfranko-topic578 my brothers 228whp fbo Civic si ran 14.6?
Lovin’ all the Honda content
Dave actually fits in a car! and trev has plenty of room for helmet and cage. Man that paint is good, sure you’re not enjoying this build more than the Supra?
I think it sure is easier to enjoy a cheap and cheerful build than one you are heavily invested in, since you don't really have to worry too much about breaking it. If you break it, such is life and you fix it again at the price of a few junkyard visits...
Look up an N2MB WOT box I have one on my SRT4 and If used correctly it will eliminate that turbo lag between shifts, and some slicks wouldnt hurt💪🏻
Definitely needs no-lift-shift, by software or by hardware. If you are going to take drag racing seriously with the Civic, get a full-on drag slick, otherwise may stick to a drag radial.
My daily driver sedan runs 14s😂😂 kinda disappointed with the 500whp civic times.
It doesn’t seem like you were even touching the throttle and you were shifting really early. LET HER EATT
I was trying lol throttle cable was loose on first 2 runs, then the transmission was not letting me shift fast
MotionAutoTv brother Kyle got you just have him help you build that trans and get u a sponsor on that throttle cable. You and him is a must happen again for sure
Seems like you need a k-tuned shifter and a LSD trans. Slicks won't hurt either.
1. Faster launch
2. Shift super fast!
3. Flat foot shift especially with a d series there way more lag than let’s say b series in my experience with my turbo.
4. Go full send
A 500whp car even on street tires should trap alot more than 110...
Damn that D series transmission is holding up like a champ.
it will get there, looking forward for them grippy tires and dialling in process to bring out the high 10 you're aiming for. I'm a sucker for regular MATv uploads 😁
I swore it would do 11.9 I was wrong.. I say lower tire pressure
Higher revs when shifting
Other than that I love the drag video!
The limiter is set pretty low too
SLICKS!
Crazy Dave, always finding deep holes
Wow, seeing your daughter worried like that is really an eye opener.
As expensive as it is, i think any and all of your motorsport stuff you should really take full precautions aka roll cage, suit, neck brace even if it is just drag racing a civic.
If anything were to happen and she would be left without you, that would be horrible. Having an accident at the top end in that civic or the supra etc. Could end it all.
Just a thought anyway (my older sisters father died in a horrible work accident when she was 3 which could have been avoided if more safety was taken into account)
Love your stuff
Beautiful Ej yellow is mosdef best civic color! P.s. I think it has a lotta grip for a fwd, those car made for cornering, not the best for drag, but good rear and front wheel traction it's mosdef a great time attack beast!
Thanks for shoutin Boost&Brew and thanks for attending!
My favorite part of the video? The EG Civic walking that Corvette down...made my day. Can't wait to do it myself. The part that sucks is that I am over an hour from the nearest dragstrip.
That car you were wondering about was a Pontiac Acadian ( Canadian version of a Chevy Nova) very rare car.
Yeah thought it was a chevy 2
Looks like Chevy II tail lights. What makes you think it's an Acadian?
Yeah, that’s not an Acadian, says Nova on the dash and another way you can tell is the front grill and rear trim are different on a Pontiac. It’s a Chevy 2
11:18 god tier level cuteness
Great to see you back on track with videos! Just gonna say: make the supra under the shelf a drag car😁
I second this
i wonder how far this'll go :D this little d series is destined to be a hero
That car you said you didn't know what it was is a Chevy Nova 2 door post. Probably the best car GM ever built! They were small, light and you could order them with a V8 and Muncie 4 speed. There f***ng Incredible!!!
That wrx wagon moves out! I think it's time for a retune with that new map sensor
Not too shabby, first time bringing it to the track on this setup. (My wagon)
@august september yeah it's got 6 speed
Before watching i am guessing high 14's if it spins a bit. High 13s if it hooks
Did you try to preload the car? Use ebrake, set launch to around 2700rpm and lightly let off clutch to apply a small bit of load then go? Take a bit of practice to get the routine you do need slicks and to either shift at a high rev to get out of the boost lag.
C'mon guys let's get the channel up to 500k subs this year!!!!!
I'm loving the consistent video upload keep it up man good stuff.
That red miata tho! Thqt launch and such a low et? Wow!
Your daughter is adorable man my son acts the same way lol
That's pretty much the same ET I ran on my s14 when I first made it ka-t lol without a tune.
Higher rev limiter might help a lot since you would shift to a bit higher RPM and lose less boost potential.
That plus bigger tires and possibly not having to shift out of 3rd should cut your times bigly I'd think.
P.S. Just an armchair racer I don't know sh** about drag racing. :D
love the content! You motivated me to to start uploading everyday!
Maybe you need to calibrate the new MAF you put in? Seems like you lost a lot of power
Im doing a vitara build on my d16y8 planning on getting 300hp. Will be doing some videos as well.
I have an em1 as my daily and I love this car the color and those seats are badass great job, subscribed!
Fuck yeah dude!! Little lag but at least your figuring shit out dude!! Im stoked for ya!
You need more driver mod and slicks.
simple tricks, pre loading the clutch (let off till its about to grab, use ebrake to hold), sounds like your bogging, id raise the tire psi to keep some wheel speed and rpm to keep it in boost better. 2nd gear burnouts ftw
It’s amazing what the car looks like now compared to a few months ago good job man 👌
You just gotta do something about the boost you're losing in all that time between shifts. Short shifter and practice I guess
Also if youre gonna go bias ply I hope your trans is strong, because all 500 hp hittin the ground gripping might break things if not
Don’t seem like no 500hp today lol 😆
500 would blow those tires right off it definitely got turned down by mistake?
Valet mode? 😆🤣
@@PSNxFTWxRAGOI maybe 220 on a good day.
@@jonking5166 he needs Nitrous in the low end to spool the turbo up faster
@@PSNxFTWxRAGOI Thats for sure haha an shift it maybe!
Yup I figured you’d need some slicks. I hope you had fun though !!! Get some slicks and she’ll be crazy fast for what it is
I didn’t read your pinned comment after thinking the whole time that you have to shift faster and not let the engine slow down.. those little d series need all the torque they can maintain and that’s only going to happen keeping it revved out.. but then I seen your pinned comment and understand. Shorter ratio trans, lsd and slicks.. it’ll be totally different story but you’ll still need to keep the revs up and shift quick
I wonder if your duty tables for boost control need to be adjusted, if they were set on the dyno in 4th then that could be the issue, doing a high gear roll in puts more load on the engine and spools more aggressively vs doing a launch and rowing the gears, wastegate could opening too early causing the slow spool.
And flat shifting is probably really necessary, with a big turbo and a tiny engine its really easy to fall out of spoll between gears.
Soooo much fun ! And you have completely changed my opinion on hondas.
Good stuff! Glad u did this. Working out the kinks man!
2:07 - Ugggh people that bring out their trophies....
I'm just glad to see trevor at the track
good tires, clutch and axles - 10-11 or sure
That boost and brews was that in pwest? I gotta hit one of those up it looks like a fun little time
Only US car youtuber I watch, love the content. Definitely would love to see a US vs AUS video with you, Adam and Mighty Car Mods out here in Aus.
U my friend need to UA-cam some how to drag race and shifting video may help my stock civic runs 15s Haha u might need 2000 hp u might get in to the 12s with 2000hp
Slicks , line lock , bump stop, turn 2 step up , no lift shifting oh and get a dog box lol
Keep up the great work and thanks for the content and it sounded like it was struggling abit
why did you think it was a good idea to launch with 2-step on skinny street tires? it just immediately spins and wheel hops. either way, without a good tire it will do the same but you'll most likely break something with more grip.
Slicks are definitely needed.
Jaime deserves the RV.
Setup No lift to shift in the ecu and you will trim 2 seconds off your 1/4.
Good job 👍🏽
Hey mate I used to work for Toyo tyres in Australia and I remember that all r888s and r888rs we had we did have a expiry date which was 3 to 5 yrs. I can't remember the exact time frame. If your having problems with grip it could be that they have dried out over time but check the manufacturing date on the tyres. And be careful when pushing them.
Any chance your gonna change the headliner in the civic? Imho would look alot better factory.
Yeah it was probably just falling out of boost in between shifts but I'm sure you'll figure something out. Maybe you can get a really good discount on a trans like Kyle has.
Well I gotta give it to ya not too bad for first time ripping it at the track. Keep it up brotha get you some new rubber and send it!
You took a turbo Honda to the track AND drove it home. Kudos to you Trevor.
im happy your drag racing now! :)
I think you're in the right direction. Setup is huge in drag racing so you just need to dial it in. Gearing seems like a big issue on your setup.
once you get more traction and able to launch and if you can keep in boost gearing should be ok most turbo Honda's you are in 4th going through quarter but a good short throw shifter will help alot with shifts as well you will find the happy medium of letting off throttle and stabbing clutch for shifts just takes practice
The clip of your daughter had me weak😂
Car isn't making anywhere near 500hp. I had a 450 whp d16y8 ex, even spinning the mph was still mid 120's. That motor is hurt.
Its a problem with the driver :D
You need to fully build the civic into a 700hp monster
Haha at 3:07 you see my grey Saab 9-5! That blue car ya were looking at right before is a early body Chevy Nova II 62-65 "shoebox" :)
Love my Saab 95 2.3t just got her.
@@danieljordannicol9937 there awesome cars! If you have the model with the td04 then a tune would wake that thing up huge!
Oh that tire spin 😳
The color is really nice
Wow reading the comments everyone is an expert. Pickup a traction bar. Find a set of 13x9 lensos add some slicks, preload it when you launch. Nobody is an awesome driver without practice. I saw references to Kyle. I love his channel but he can’t shift for shit. Hell at least you didn’t miss 3rd every pass. You’ve got to keep it in the power band. Don’t let it lag. Run it to redline in every gear. Also stay out of the water unless you have a slick. Do a dry burnout with treaded tires. Good luck man.
Hopefully you have boost by gear setup. You may almost need a dogbox to go 10s(or switch to auto, just not a powerglide)... and you will absolutely need slicks just for the launch/ 60ft.
Where was the boost and brew
Lower ur tire pressure in front raise the reear. Let it come up on vtech more. Might need a syncro first to second
Definitely gonna need slicks and full rev shifts
Trevor feed Jamie :D
What transmission is in it? Sounds like long hearings. Try a 96 to 99 ex trans
That headliner gotta go lmao.
It would look super clean blue suede or black suede.
Dude blue suede would look sick!!
@@KiingTx Right? To match the seats but it'll still be subtle.
