One of the very few instructional pieces that gets to the point-though it could be stronger. The position of the back elbow is the most fundamental key to the whole thing.

Good video. Great cadence. Repeated key points so that it would get through a thick skull (like mine) and emphasized memorable takeaways. Good job.

My SwingTweaks coach just recommended this video to me to help me fix my chicken wing at impact, as I tend to bring my trail elbow too far behind me and I log jam at impact and can’t get my arms long. I’m looking forward to trying it out next time I go to the range and hopefully get dialed in for the new season!

Opening up that elbow towards the camera was a great secret I never would have spotted. Feels weird at take off but gets results at impact . Allows so much flexibility to get the 90 degrees. Such brilliant important detail yet again .

I know this is a year old now but it helped me tremendously. It absolutely felt like I was just taking the club halfway back but on video it was a full swing. On top of that it was the first time my impact looked like a pro. Hands forward, shaft lean and pure strike!!!

Great video. I tend to lose it left arm parallel when my arms start to lift to top. I suspect my right arm is not moving properly.

I’ve watched hundreds of golf instructional videos over the years but this was the one that finally got me swinging correctly with consistently. Simple fix but super effective. Was guilty of rolling the club inside with little shoulder turn while arms was doing their own thing and then the flippy impact with chicken wing follow through. NO MORE thanks to this excellent tip!

Great video, drill and concept. Question for the group...can I begin my downswing by using my trail elbow effectively pushing my hips forward toward the target, which drops my hands into the slot, etc.? Sometimes I struggle with which move and thought to begin the downswing. Thanks!

Wow Kerrod! Great lesson, great drill. Simply explained and easily understood. The difference is remarkable. I took it on to the course this morning at dawn (on a cold UK winter morning!) for 9 holes on my own and really felt as if I made a lot of progress with a good number of quality strikes. It feels like I can get into “the slot” and I’m in a lot more control instead of feeling like every swing was different. Brilliant stuff. I’ll seriously look into your online lessons based on these excellent videos. Thanks.

This is a great video. As player who struggled with too much radial /wrists. Then took them out of the swing the trail elbow move here helps me know what to do when iv finished the take away.
I notice improvement in strike consistency, speed, the whole lot really.
This is such a help to have this content here on YT 👌

Chris, thank you for this video I hope it's what ails my swing , I'd like to ask because I used to do this without thinking but cannot anymore after a 6 month layoff .
But if I imagine my right shoulder rotating clockwise as I make.my backswing and maybe by bicep more horizontal and in line with my pelvis , is that a fair swing thought , I've tried the seam on my shirt and it just for some reason does not resonate with me

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  13 днів тому

Sorry to hear about the layoff. It's important to find a mental image or cue that resonates with you personally, so if visualizing you bicep in line with your pelvis works for you, that's great!

Many say to lead the downswing with the right elbow, that this automatically shallows the club. But if I try to keep my elbows close together, I find my right elbow almost pinned to my side, to an extent that leading the downswing with it seems difficult. Can you comment on this? Thanks.

Very different but do a push-up. Flare your arms out and do 10(if you can). Then do 10 with your arms elbows into the body. You’ll feel the lats the triceps back muscles etc not just chest. That’s the feel for me. Weird I didn’t know what I was doing I would drive the ball felt like half swings connected carry 275. Not connected swinging out of my shoes it’s wherever

Wow! I've been working on making a better (full) shoulder turn, and it's hard. I find myself doing what you just showed with getting your hands and elbows behind your body. A terrible move! I'll put your insights to work tomorrow at the range. I have lost whatever swing I had and this will help me get it back. Thank you!

I recently began keeping my trail arm ( right elbow ) tucked closer to my body at takeaway for more consistent iron shots......
I find keeping my trail arm close at take-away really helps me , but now I must be " over-doing " it , as now my irons are all working well, but many drives can't seem to get any loft and hook badly from the tee ..
how exactly do I know when it's ok to let my right elbow drift up a little further from my body at the top of my back swing?
my grip is neutral to weak and my swing path is coming inside to out and my club face must be closing at impact ...not sure what to do to correct it ....thanks
