I had COVID19 March 2020 and loss of smell from the start, it was my first symptom. I did the smell training with essential oils for a year and lost heart. Now it is just a month short of three years that I have been without a sense of smell and taste so I guess this is for ever now? So depressing. So dangerous. I am 80 years old now and I recognise that it must be a greater blow for younger, more socially active people…..not a treat to go out for a meal for example.
THANK YOU for posting this training. I appreciate hearing practical treatments from the medical field. I plan to implement treatment recommendations with my son who lost his smell/taste a month ago and has yet to regain it.
Outstanding synopsis of the published data on COVID-19-related OD. I've spent hours looking through research and this sums it up very succinctly and presents the most effective of the olfactory training strategies in the literature. Thank you for this invaluable information.
Thank you for posting a video on this topic. With the slides that have a diagram, it would be helpful if you had some sort of pointer to guide us. You’re using a lot of vocabulary that the general public is not familiar with to explain this important topic.
I am 57 years old, in exceptional health, and have not had a cold or flu in 20+ years. I had a "weapons grade" sense of smell before I contracted Covid in September of 2021. My sense of smell now is greatly diminished and instead I smell base chemicals or smells (the smell of gas is now intolerable to me). Any recommendations? I did the smell training with essential oils and no real help.
Going on a year and 2 months that I haven't been able to taste and smell. I'm a chef/cook and used to be able to taste and smell anything and it's really been depressing to say the least. I'm at a complete loss as what to do to get it back.
This is a fantastic video on the topic, and a very thorough analysis for anyone who's currently dealing with anosmia due to COVID. Do you know if there's currently any data on the monoclonal antibody infusion therapy and its effect on this particular symptom?
It has been now a year and half that I lost my ability to smell and taste. It is extremely depressing, especially when something is burning right next to you and you cannot smell that.
اAlfatihah and the three last short suras of the book. Read each one three times into a bottle of water. Rinse your nose with small amount of water(but do not take it into toilette) and drink from it throughout the day. Repeat into another bottle. Until you recover. Above all have faith.
Same for me, August 2021. Nothing until November. Then I started smelling and tasting chemicals and that’s what it’s been since then. After some research, I find that in have Parosmia. On my second treatment of essential oils, I.e., menthol (peppermint), Thyme, tangerine (orange) and gardenia (jasmine). There are no essential oils for some, hence the (replacement). I hope this works. I hope that you are better soon! Parosmia apparently is a good thing because it means that your brain is trying to return to normal. Hang in there…I’m with ya!
@@lisaschichtel2696 Can u pls tell me if that helped U or not . I lost my smell as well for 2 y now .and i want to try Smell training as well . Tank you!
esential oils and alpha lipoic acid, with omega 3's and a B complex, along with using flonase a couple of days , my smell and taste is coming back after losing it for about 5 days post covid
Dr Rehl is one of my Rhinologists very intelligent taught me alot of Otolaryngology concepts
I found here the most understandable explanation of how my loss of smell came about and that has lessened the mystery for me, which helps. I am in UK.

Olfactory training: Rose essential oil is the most expensive essential oil , even when diluted with jojoba oil. I use geranium essential oil instead.
I have not been able to smell or taste since August 2021, its like eating for the sake of it because you cannot taste.
Yup same here.. its just that mine started in march last year

Hi Jess- did you regain your sense of smell and taste using the supplements you listed ?
@@donnalynnk70 yes! I think the alpha lipoic acid was what did it. But I also think the essential oil sniffing was secondary
@@jesslong75 great, thank you so much I will try it ❤️
I’ve hit parosmia. Are the same principles applies for this as well? Smell kits, omega , and rinsing?
Excellent
I love coffee and it doesn't taste the same at all
many folks lose taste/smell weeks before...just dont realize their palette has been muted
Honestly, this makes me want to try microdosing shrooms for neurogenesis. Maybe it will help.
What to do if i lost my smell and taste nearly 14 months ago after COVID? I've tried many things but didn't help... Is there a chance to get it back?
