His house was on the main road and when I passed by one day years later, it was gone.

Nice video. I have seen the 153 cubic inch 4 cylinder engine from a Nova. I helped my Dad when I was 13. put one in a 1953 Willys Jeep. You had to notch the oil pan and use a transmission adapter It was a great little engine. It got almost double the gas mileage of the flathead 4 cylinder Willys The Willys had 60HP and the Chevy had 90 HP. Plus after he blew up two flatheads he likes the fact that the Chevy 4 was reliable.

I removed bumper and filler, then cut out tail light panel and installed a 72 tail light panel. I had to cut and modify the rear crossmember also. You can put a 72 bumper on by just drilling holes in the crossmember to match the 72 bumper brackets. It will be close enough that you don’t need filler. The problem is that your plate mounts on the rear panel of a 73/74. It mounts to the bumper of the 72. So it might look a little weird. Thanks for watching.

Here's a question for you... I was looking at comments on another Nova video clip. Some guy posts on there how the BMW sedan is such a great car and has plenty of passenger space. When I replied, "WTF does BMW have to do with a Nova SS 396?" His reply? "BMW invented the valve stem caps for the Nova SS." I AM NOT KIDDING! I asked if he was f'n high. Then proceeded to question why GM would outsource BMW for something as simple & basic as a valve stem cap? Awaiting a reply, but just thought I'd drop this on you since you seem to have quite a grasp on all things Nova. Hope you got a chuckle out of his claim. I sure did! 😉

The 68 to 72 models, two doors. 73 and 74 not to my taste, too much factory plastic parts rattling, no offense to those who love them. All of them even the six cylinders are wonderfully simple cars. So easy to work on for any skilled mechanic. Solid. When maintained properly which isn't expensive or difficult in my life anyway. Even when driven regularly. Restored every twenty years or so. These Fisher body Chevy icons can be enjoyed for a lifetime and passed down to the next generation. Then repeated. The Chevy Nova. Timeless.

Yes but it’s not on purpose from what I can find. It’s probably due to tolerance stacking from the panels overlaying each other during assembly.

Hey I’m an 86 guy, the nova’s with the 4age (16v) are extremely rare and the itb’s were only on 20v engines which were not sold in the US
Really loving the channel John ! All of it but really enjoy this kinda content !! Are there any other channels as specific as yours as far as 68-72,3 & 4 years with this kind of content you recommend ?
Thanks!!! Check out Nova Resource. Lots of info.
Should add that the 68 is the only 3rd gen Nova thag had Chevy II badges on it
Yep. There’s so much stuff for 68 that is one year only I could do a whole video on it.
You should do that would love to know more!
I’ll have to do some research to make sure I have a good list. I might do each year in a video.
Will a 1974 nova back seat fit in a 70 nova?
Yes. The 74 2 door seat will fit. The hatch back seat won’t.
Love your channel! Learing alot from you when it comes to building my car. I have a bench seat from a 68 nova i picked up for 25 bucks. Will it fit in my 73?
Thanks!! Yes. It should fit. There might be a slight difference in bolt holes but I don’t think there is.
@@Shop209 sweet! Good to hear. It was such a great deal i couldn't pass it up and I would be a little pissed if it didn't work
I love the rolling shop chair !!! I have a question there is a metal box
Whoops didn’t finish my question . In the trunk attached to the back of the seat framing what is that for? In my 71 nova
I think those are 71 only. It’s a vapor canister for emissions. Hooked to gas tank.
Body offset varied my 71' was more than my 70' my 70 is vary little. Change the rear springs , spring mounts and shackles. It could help a little.
The rear spring bushings can change it a lot. Mine are all new.
@@Shop209 I just measure the 70 again , 1/8" to the passenger side if I split the difference can't get that close.
Cool love the car my dad has a 69 nova
Love your videos! Curious…how many times have you turned over while going backwards on the sit down creeper, and had to edit. 😄
Thanks!! Lol. Actually I haven’t turned over yet. The bottom of that antique chair is pretty wide. I’ve come close a few times. Usually I run into stuff.
The offset on the rear is purposely done for the drive shaft angle
I’ve heard that but never confirmed it. To keep the u joints lubed. I figure the pinion angle was enough for that. Thanks for watching
3rd gen is the best by far
Agreed
Thanks for the content, love your channel. But one small request, please include us 4th Gen owners when you can. Us Nova owners have to stick together! I really enjoy your "shop stool" videos when you're just talking cars. Keep up the good work.
If I find a great deal on a 75-79 I’ll get it. Right now I have a yard full and my wife would kill me. Lol.
I sure did! 😉
Lol. What in the hell? I don’t even know what to say to that.
@@Shop209
I'm dead serious man. He replied with some stupid remark that "I should've done some (all with bad spelling) driving in a 70 Charger 440 Six-pack and 'gap' me back into my father's balls."
Total troll.
Here's a link to the Nova the guy is touting. The replies will be under the comment about what a beautiful red color the car is. This idiot doesn't even address the color, just babbles on about BMW's. Weird...
ua-cam.com/video/g8e1e0zOMyc/v-deo.html
That spelling out Nova has to just be a coincidence even though I dont want it to be lol
lol. I think it was intentional.
How bout the vin deal..11427 vs 11327..SS/non-SS??..
11427 means it was a V8. 11327 means it was a 6 cyl. Sometimes the cowl tag will say 11427 and vin will say 11327. VIN always wins.
Timeless.
My uncles cousin had the connections though from gm so yeah
My firewall tag says 11427 that means it was a V8
Not really. The VIN has to say 11427. A lot if trim tags say 11427 but VIN is 327
I thought you were gonna say and nobody cares about 4th gen Nova’s 😄
Lol. Nah.
@@Shop209, They’re not much to look at, but they’re good cars, mine works really well at the drag strip with nothing more than caltracs and 90/10’s.
My 1980's high school Spanish teacher told us the story about the Nova not selling south of the border. Later I learned it was all lies!
Yep. I remember hearing it in the 80’s.
Not lie. But was in Argentina.
68-72
Lol ive ben told so ans So uncle worked for chevy he had a big block in his 73 LMFAO.. SOO HE WAS LYING HIS AZZOFF TO ME LOLLLL...
Yep. Not from factory anyway. Lol
question, how do you use butt wielding clamps, everyone i seen they do it on a bench under perfect conditions,(they can get to the back..?? i need a tutorial on how to hang a quarter using them..??Any suggestions
The ones I use you don’t have to get to the back. I’ll try to make a short video
@@Shop209 what ones do you use, I just picked these up from harbor freight, and you need to slide this small backing block into the back side,,so I'm thinking how they are used under conditions were you can't get to the back, I was thinking, of using 3pul magnets,,to align the quarter,,,it's been a while,ya no...tks
