    SAM, Amazing mate.
I nearly died in 1998. I was in intensive care for 70 plus days, then was moved to a surgical ward where I remained for almost a year. The nurses and staff, who I obviously got to know really well, knew I was into making electronic music, and because I had my PlayStation in my hospital room, they got me Music as a birthday gift. From that moment on my stay in hospital became a lot easier, as I was able to keep my mind occupied with making some rudimentary songs on this!
When I finally returned home, a lot of the tunes I had come up with whilst in hospital became the basis of future tracks, which I was able to fashion and craft using my proper equipment at home.
This PlayStation software/game may be simple, but it holds a very special place in my heart!
    Cool vid mate

That truly warms my heart... thanks for such a fun video! And a massive shout-out to everyone who has enjoyed our MUSIC/MTV products over the years. Hi Tim, just wanted to say hi and THANK YOU for making such a cool little product! I started making music in high school on the PS1 MTV Music Generator (I think it was Music 2 in the UK) and for years I used it for drums/beats. Some of the old songs on my channel utilize the beats and sampler tool - ua-cam.com/video/OnSVPjPsW0Q/v-deo.html

MTV music generator definitely didnt get the warm welcome it deserved because back then, I don't think anyone would of believed you guys managed to compile a "complete" beat making program and run it on a PS1. Aside from a few producers , NOBODY acknowledged it for being anything more than a "game" . I always wondered how close Jester and Image-Line were because not even 2 years after MTV:MG a surprising revamped FL 2.0 is released and oddly it shared a striking resemblance, IMO.

Me and my best mate of 30 years got matching tattoos of the DJ guy from the cover last November because we spent our youth filling memory card after memory card, around 30 in all, (even deleting our games because we were worried about losing tracks) with Music and Music 2000.
A few weeks ago we finally, after about 3 years of trying, backed up all of our tracks to a computer about 15 years after our memory cards should've degraded.
Music and Music 2000 has been a really big deal for us so thank you!

This was literally how I got into music production.
Had this in the 90’s in college, the many days that no one had any money we’d cram into my room and make the loudest hardcore tracks.
Years later I got the MTV music generator on PS2, that had quite a bit of power to it, even had a sampler, managed to remix vocal tracks, then I decided I wanted something better so bought myself a PC, found a cracked version of cubase SX 3, loved it for years, then got the wife to get me the proper Cubase 5, still use it nearly daily.
And it all started from that PlayStation game over 20 years ago.

I absolutely loved this music program for PS1 back in the 90s. It was actually quite deep and editable as a music making tool, and my first experience of using a type of ‘DAW’ to sequence loops and one shots on a ‘computer’. It was easy to create fills, risers, edit samples etc. I made loads of tracks with it and recorded them into my Sony minidisc player as backups. Still got ‘em, and the same minidisc player is still working. They brought out a sequel to this one called Music 2000, but somehow I didn’t find it as good as the original. Apart from the obvious difference in sound quality and depth, the concept is not that disimilar 20 years later working on Korg Gadget! Great episode, brings back fond memories of my PS1 days and my first venture into ‘computer-made’ music. 👍🕷

However, coming back to it again before selling my video game collection: using the controller to lay down notes and patterns is the most fiddliest of methods I have ever endured. Love the input from legendary musician CoLD SToRAGE / Tim Wright on the demos too.

This is where it started for me and i love it to this very day_ still have two copies of the later music 2000 and 99999999999 tracks recorded on tapes and my old pc which was hooked directly from the tv headphones jack to pc mic input because i dont have any audio interface back in the day. Im very thankful for the original version tho. It trained your musical ear immensly by limiting the editing to monophonic per channel. Good times...thanks for this Sam.

I know I'm late to the party watching this vid. But I'll add my thoughts anyway. I still have this software and the Music 2000 follow-up. I got into both 'games' big time when they first came out. Made tonnes of tunes, copied them onto cassettes and some onto minidisc, proper '90's. To be fair, my efforts were mostly average, but there are a few proper choonz amongst the experimental noises. Currently got a couple of synths on order, planning to re-ignite my musical musings. Maybe I can re-visit these old tunes and re-mix myself. Plenty of inspiration on this awesome channel, enjoying playing catch-up watching Sam's adventures.
