That must have taken some balls for Koki Niwa to move so close to the table during a loop-to-loop rally at 5:28.
Robinot had some amazing winners and tricky shots up his sleeves, but Koki had a very tactically sound game and his win was well-deserved.

very interesting match, you can see how talented Koki Niwa is in terms of hand feel and in-game split decisions, very smart use of his feel to force mistakes from his opponents. The downside is his lack of muscle endurance at the last few sets, can see that ball power is lacking in the 5th set onwards. Also his winning last point tactics has got to change if he wants to be number 1.

@ersguterjunge467 Some letters are missing on your keyboard ^^. I agree with you though, Koki Niwa has a great ability to keep his cool ang getting back in the game when his opponent is leading. You can see it in this match, Robinot leads 2-0 then Koki Niwa catches up his delay to get to 2-2, then he loses 2-3 but gets back to 3-3, then... The outcome is known :)

@BennDuong However Robinot is much forehand-centered despite his good backhand and stay much more often close to the table, and I think that is the key to step up and compete with the very best. Anyway, Robinot got his chance but didn't manage to finish off the match when he had the occasion.

@halite001 Not agree about Quentin. He has excellent footwork. He should improve his tactics against Koki, who is really smart.
Many moments when Quentin would have shot on another direction and move Koki to the topspin exchange on mid distance where he has some advantage, but he did not - he attacked on straight path by line instead of moving Koki to the med-high angle diagonal. So first, quentin should improve his tactics and review the most hard mistakes.

    K. Niwa won because his game stayed very closed to the table with very short strokes and cut Robinot reaction time which pushed the French to play mid distance but had to cover much more playing area. But luckily Robinot is very comfortable playing far away top spinning the ball. 4-3 very close game!
Can't wait to see these two players maturing and play in the men division!
