I really loved the victory themes from this game. They all just feel so much more triumphant than what would come after for Brawl and Sm4sh. Especially the ones for Earhtbound, Metroid and Fire Emblem.
Melee announcer's enthusiasm is unmatched. Also, this detail is exclusive to Ultimate but damn, "X wins" sounds so lame and generic compared to "This game's winner is X/And the winner is X".

Nostalgia. My controller has been malfunctioning lately so I haven't been able to play lately. Even though I have Smash games from Melee up to Ultimate, I find myself always wanting to go back to Melee. The only smash game I don't have is the original for Nintendo 64 and Smash for Wii U (because I don't own a Wii U).
ya know why did they keep marths japanese speech but not mewtwos? i mean mewtwo has the same actor between both versions... yet only in the japanese version will it speak in its victory quotes.
Probably because Marth is Japanese (So he'd speak it no matter the region), and Mewtwo only speaks it for Japan, so they can understand it better (not all Japanese people are fluent with English).
