The field looks good. Hope you get a drizzly rain to get it to grow. Now go to work...[just kidding]. Hope your work schedule slows down soon, I miss the videos.
Amen, Nole brother ... Evan seems to be getting the hang of it regards this hayfield. BTW: you might like Field Rows channel, from maybe 100 miles northwest of Tallahassee ... And man, do we need a quarterback.
Clean Your cab filter now and blow out engine filters. I worked up My field and My filters were pretty much plugged full of dust and debris. Really enjoyed the drone footage. Hopefully Your long stretch of 12 hour work is almost over. Stay safe.
I believe that you were pulling a roller packing the hay seed..you mentioned a cultipacker, they would have a set if cultivating teeth along with a packer
Would love to hear how the hay turned out after this. We’re looking at adding 3-4 acres to our horse pasture and have similar equipment available to lay down grass seed. Thanks and awesome video!
This summer has FLOWN by so fast that we're behind with canning. Hope to catch up this weekend. Also hoping your garden turned out well for your needs.
Well you have done your part very well, it now up to good old mother nature to do her part ! Very nice good looking field, rolling also will make it great for making hay will the 🌞 👍👍
I enjoy ALL of your videos so much. Watching you and Rebekah build your future business from that old overgrown farm into what you have made it today has been very enjoyable ❤️ You two are so smart in doing this now, when you are still working full-time. It is the right way to go about it. I am 🙏🙏🙏 for rain for you. Thank you so much for sharing Corpus Christi TX
So a trick for orchard grass is when you mix it with other seed you can not shake them together because orchard grass will separate it self from other seeds
Nice job Evan. Our culipacker we used looked exactly like yours! That should make a good hay field. When you come off your hectic work schedule it will make you wonder how you got it all done! Give lots of credit to Rebekah! Love watching your videos and as always thanks for taking us along with you.
In the future, mix ratios by weight of Pure Live Seed (PLS)... not weight of seed type. I was a seedsman for years and helped many, many of farmers get exactly what they wanted out of their fields.
I like the way you explain things. I'm impressed with the way you produce your videos. You explain you farming techniques so any man can comprehend and go out and plant hay. Great job.
This is a beautiful piece of land. Can't wait to see it green up! Also, noticed your shirt in the first half of the video, Silva Brothers! Big fan of TOH for over 30 years. Sure feeds some dreams of bigger, nice homes!
I picked up on that too! Back in the day, the only way to get one of those shirts was to hire Silva Brothers Construction to do a job for you. I have always admired the quality of work that Tommy and his brothers did on TOH. You knew he was good when you'd see Norm treat him as a peer.
I have a cultipacker that looks just like yours. The shaft rides in a wood block on each end. I inherited it, it was bought used for 2 dollars in the 50s,
@@georgedavidson1221 the old guy that I inherited it from used white oak, I made one out of yellow pine, used 1 7/8 hole saw. I drilled a hole at an angle and put a grease zirt in the wood so I could grease it. It's been on about 10 trs.
Cant wait to see how it germinates looks like you have done a great job. I dont know if you do it but before washing I blow out the dust rad screens it helps to get cleaner prevents from plugging things up. Have a great day.
I agree ! Clover is fine in a pasture mix but why in the world use it in a HAY mixture ? If you insist on a legume, alfalfa dries much faster than c lover for hay.
Before washing, use the leaf blower to clean off most of the dust and blow out the radiator. I find the equipment cleans up pretty well with just the leaf blower and it is much quicker. Also, I use to drag a large section of chain link fence behind the tractor (with a log fastened across the top of fencing to hold it down) for smoothing the field and covering the seed. Worked well.
I love your farm...brings back memories of childhood...my father used a mule to turn his fields...lol. No kidding...we loved that Ole mule. Good luck with the grass seed.
Nice job! And I think you'll be a lot happier with the coverage that way as opposed to what you got with that big lime spreader. So like you say all you need now is a good drizzling rain to settle it in and get it to germinating. May god bless your work and make it productive. Those cows will love it.
Hi Ivan. I was just wondering if you will be putting up more videos soon. I know you have been working every day strait for quite a while and that must be very hard on you but I was just wondering, I miss watching your videos. Hope to see you soon back on. Stay safe.
Glad you used cultipacker, this what i use for this purpose. Packer compresses soil to bond seed & grooves accept heavy deluge of rain water & hold soil. Roller is smooth & seed tends to stick to it. Roller makes ground like a paved parking lot. In heavy rain no ridges to slow the erosion of soil/seed. then a redo for part or all of field. I cringed when you mentioned Timothy seed as this was raised to feed horses only, If one stem reaches maturity it is like wire, it punctures and kill cattle. Never let it get that high. Also Timothy pulls from the soil, does not add or amend. Seed germination is 7-10 days. You will be tempted to harvest in late October if weather cooperates in growth, but strongly suggest you resist until next May.
Hi Evan. Your field looks good, you did a great job and now you need the rain. I am sure your hay will turn out good. You put a lot of work into it and now the waiting time. I enjoy your videos and looking forward to seeing a lot more.
I don't know beans about farming but I do enjoy watching how y'all plan things out then execute them. This field looks marvelous. I hope you get a huge yield from your hard work. Thanks for sharing and have a Blessed day.
The pond is on their property. It's three and a half acres. It you want to see it in relation to where the house is, go to his playlist and check out the log home cabin build. It shows the pond A LOT ❤️
Thanks for sharing with us Evan, the field looks great, hopefully it will be green before long. Looks great around there. Stay safe and keep having fun. Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋

The seed coverage was impressive. Let’s pray for good germination. That field will be a bonus for your hay harvest and farm income. Thanks Evan.
Hey Evan you want it to rain? Wash the tractor and the truck and the car it always happens .lol
Great job showing and telling, keep up the good work showing I’ll do mine like that to see ya next time see ya bye.
Not too many people would have thought of a cement mixer for getting a uniform mix 🤔!
You look very happy with a job well done.👏 😀 😊 ☺ 😄
Nice T-Shirt! I have one just like it. Silva Brothers
Always a great video. Thumbs up Evan !
That old mixer that you got sure has paid for itself.
That field looks pretty good. The old roller did a good job. 👍👍
I'd bet Tom and Charlie Silva love you repping their shirt!
Clean Your cab filter now and blow out engine filters.

Good morning from the south of England
I love your Silva brothers construction shirt they are awesome contractors and I love this old house!!! True classic
Good morning from Grand Forks
I believe that you were pulling a roller packing the hay seed..you mentioned a cultipacker, they would have a set if cultivating teeth along with a packer
I'm so glad to see you on the homestead!!! Glad your getting it seeded down!!!!! God bless you!
Amen, to all that.
That new tractor is doing a great job! Nice video.
Good use for concrete mixer
Next time you plant seed go mow a hay field. That should make it rain for a week.
This only works if you’re legitimately trying to make hay, but it works like a charm.
Would love to hear how the hay turned out after this. We’re looking at adding 3-4 acres to our horse pasture and have similar equipment available to lay down grass seed. Thanks and awesome video!
Really enjoy your show, your my #1 show.
Good job young man!

Great job Evan…. Your hay field looks amazing!!
We used those V rollers to bust clay dirt clods that would dry as hard as rock, with concrete blocks setting in the holders on top.
Good Luck Evan.

You've done just about all there is to do, Evan. Now comes the hardest part of farming...waiting.
Have an awesome and blessed day!
The field looks great Evan and will look even better when the hay is growing.
In the future, mix ratios by weight of Pure Live Seed (PLS)... not weight of seed type. I was a seedsman for years and helped many, many of farmers get exactly what they wanted out of their fields.
The field looks amazing. Well done!
You can still get corrugated wheels for your roller as an option. It is called a Cambridge roller
I love a cultipacker. In a few days the depressions made by the cultipacker will turn green.
As usual Evan great job, looks real neat Dave
I like the way you explain things. I'm impressed with the way you produce your videos.
You explain you farming techniques so any man can comprehend and go out and plant hay.
Great job.
Enjoying your videos here in Memphis.
I was just looking at your red wonder and thinking that it really deserves some TLC after a dusty workout! 🏴
Great job!!!
Love the old mixer; everyone needs one.
....good one, nice job, keep safe...
Cambridge Rolls , perfect for the job .
Great video seed spread looks great
You just really need enough rain to make the moisture meet. 1/2 to 3/4 inch.
This is a beautiful piece of land. Can't wait to see it green up! Also, noticed your shirt in the first half of the video, Silva Brothers! Big fan of TOH for over 30 years. Sure feeds some dreams of bigger, nice homes!

Thanks for your videos my brother your are amazing you are very helpful
Great job Evan, great job.Have a blessed day.👍👏🚜
JudithB It looks good, now for rain!!!
I gotta tell ya Evan that is a great idea for mixing grass seed 😃👍
Looks very nice. I could do stuff like that all day every day. I hope that your long consecutive work days end soon!
ny father use to say milking cows make sweeter milk with clover
Jeezz Evan, You are rockin this field. Good Job.
Cant wait to see how it germinates looks like you have done a great job. I dont know if you do it but before washing I blow out the dust rad screens it helps to get cleaner prevents from plugging things up. Have a great day.
I'm learning
thx
Watch your drydown on the clover when cutting next year. Will dry much slower than the grasses (in my experience).
I agree !
Clover is fine in a pasture mix but why in the world use it in a HAY mixture ?
If you insist on a legume, alfalfa dries much faster than c lover for hay.
Chicory is also a good option for cattle feed, and is also used to make a coffee like beverage.
Good video Evan, hope everything comes up fine.

Love This Old House and your channel!
Love the videos! If you want that cinematic feel with the drone, try moving both sticks at the same time.
Great seing you will be good to see it sprout up
Very well done. Great camera work. I learned a bit. Thanks. 😊
My fingers are crossed!😊
Looks really Purdy earl, I'm praying you get the right amount of rain. Stay safe, and hope you're getting your veggies canned. 💙💛👍👍🚜
How do you stop the birds and ants eating the non coated seed?
Evan red clover only lasts for two years and then dies out but it works good fora cover crop
Hopefully!!!
I love your farm...brings back memories of childhood...my father used a mule to turn his fields...lol. No kidding...we loved that Ole mule. Good luck with the grass seed.

Keep us posted on the progress
Hope you have good luck with your new grass field!
I had a roller like that with oak bearings, they worked pretty good.
Love to watch your love for your farm.
Is that a Silva Brothers shirt - as in Tommy Silva of This Old House fame?!?! You’ll have to send him one of your shirts!
