The issue is that not all of it does and they don't explicitly tell people during their streams that it doesn't. The people running this shit get paid. The founder gets a cut of all of it. I understand these people have to make a living but they should be more up front about it. It's not even about the fact that they get paid. It's that they sold out to a large charity organization who now controls the flow of money. The problem with this is not what they do with the money. The problem is how they dictate how the event is run. They've turned it into something so incredibly boring and "un-fun" by cracking down on what people are allowed to say, hiring only the most monotone boring donation readers, and banning all the actually entertaining runners from even coming back. This is because the founders of this event sold out to this large charity and no longer have any real input on how it's run. I'm not saying the money doesn't help people, but AGDQ/SGDQ could have been so much better.

Some games implement only a four directional movement system-which by that I don’t mean you can only move in four directions but the game registers movement in four directions-and each direction has a limited speed. But if you move diagonally you’re technically going in two of those registered directions and the game will recognize this and defaults to sort of overlapping/stacking your limited speed so you can go faster. (Not exactly the right terms for how this happens but it’s the basic idea, corrections welcome.) I believe this is done because the programming for this movement is much simpler but it’s easily abused. This game probably has this implemented, despite being a movement based game, since if you’re facing diagonally off a truck you run diagonally off it (which you can see they did often) meaning your constantly leaping to your death which generally puts off players from abusing this system.... or just implemented this to make the game more light weight. Speed runner abuse little programming details like the Elder Scrolls games and speed runs in those games are ridiculously short.
