- Kingdom Hearts 2 is considered by many to be the best game in the series. From its great story to its complete refinement of the combat and general gameplay, almost everyone can’t help but sing its praises, but is it truly a perfect game through and through? To many, it probably is, but there’s always that one person that’s a bit more cynical than others. And today, that person may just be me.

So, about Beast... he was in the first game. In Hollow Bastion. And he clearly remembers Sora and co. _He already knows all the shenanigans with other worlds, there's no point in keeping that secret from him._

Actually, Thunder is the only spell that remained unchanged. Blizzard became what Fire used to be in KH1. Though it lacks in horizontal/area range, the distance it can travel makes up for its lost area of effect.
Cure is basically the same except once you get near your allies and use it, you can basically heal everyone in its vicinity instead of healing one at a time unlike KH1. The only downside is that it uses all your MP bar.

Out of all the Drive Forms, only 2 of them don’t utilize a 2nd Keyblade. Those are namely Wisdom Form and Limit Form. Wisdon Form enhances magic, gives MP discount on using spells, and is one of the 2 Drive Forms that let you attack and cast magic while moving. And Limit Form letting you use Sora’s KH1 abilities with normal attacks restoring MP while the Limit/Command attacks let you restore HP per hit, making it the fanbase’s MOST USED Drive Form next to Final Form.
Also out of all the Drive Forms that utilize sacrificing your partners, also only 2 of them don’t require sacrificing your ally characters, namely Limit & Final Form.
Also there is a 6th Drive Form that acts as a punishment from relying on Drive Forms too much or using a certain Keyblade: The Anti-Form.
It boosts attack power similar to Valor Form, but you can’t dodge, use magic, and use items. I would also normally say this is the 3rd Drive Form that doesn’t utilize a 2nd Keyblade but it also doesn’t utilize a keyblade at all and you cannot select this form in the Drive Settings.

There is also a reaction comand for countering the Shadow Stalker, and it’s EVEN COOLER than the Dark Thorn.
You basically counterattack its throw by spinning using a pillar and throwing yourself to damage the boss. It’s super sick.

Stitch can also restore MP to full after a set period and Peter Pan’s Tinkerbell can also heal after a set period.

Hundred Acre Wood is easier to complete here than in KH1 where it doesn’t rely on scoring to make you complete it, you just have to complete the minigames for 100% completion of Hundred Acre Wood.
But since there’s no scoring here in your first playthrough unlike KH1, it tends to be the least annoying but the shortest world next to Atlantica.
Granted Atlantica can piss off for all I care (Personal Opinion.)

The Lingering Will fight when fighting normally is a test of luck. Having to learn the counterattacks needed for this fight is exasperating.
You’d need to fully level up the drive abilities in order to get a chance with this boss. And even with that, it’s up to luck as to what ability he’ll conjure up next. It’s possible to loop him, but even with that, everything literally just falls on how well you can get by the desperation move. And once the desperation move begins, all his next attacks are up to luck and you can’t loop him as much as you used to.
But is this a bad superboss? No. *looks at MF in BBS*

It’s regarded the worst in gameplay according tothe fandom. It’s H.A.N.D.’s first development alongside Square Enix of Kingdom Hearts.
To me, the three hour prologue was a reminder that this franchise hits different when you play through the games in canonical order rather than release date order. Finishing this prolouge after going back and forth between Chain of Memories and 358/2 days (I did have to emulate the latter using melonDS for a single screen gameplay experience) truly made me appreciate Roxas as a character more so than the release date order would have. He's not just "Sora but edgy", he learned to become his own person by realizing that despite being branded as something that can't feel emotion (a Nobody), he was able to make his own memories that were wholly unique from Sora's. Those memories, coupled with the fact that Ventus' heart transfered to Roxas when he and Sora separated, filled the hole inside where Roxas' heart WOULD be if he was always his own person. Roxas is unfortunately an example of reverse character development executed poorly (instead of seeing the character improve as a person, we see them at their highest potential first and then later on we're shown how they got to that point), as i feel like I would've been indifferent if I went through this prologue before Days.
Fun facts: 1. Sephiroth is able to be challenged as soon as you get to the Study. 2. If you tell Cloud Sephiroth’s location you will get the Fenrir upon informing Sephiroth, The keyblade you get from him may have a not good ability on paper but when used you can see Lingering Will gets stunned when hit so if you get a good combo up you can defeat the armor quickly 3. Thanks to the Fenrir you can easily skip his DM with the right skills unequipped. I hope this was helpful
Sorry after a replay I now remember that Sephiroth is only able to be battled immediately after the fight with 1000 heartless, but still if you have the skills to outwit his patterns you’re golden

But the actual BOSS fight was added in the Japanese Exclusive KH2 Final Mix, which is the version we later got in KH 2.5 Mix

Which also resulted in KH1 Sora’s English Voice when voicing Xemnas sounding different due to 1 FM only releasing Globally as 1.5 when the first collection came up and Haley Joel Osmont was too old to voice as Sora.
@tonysonic456 Not sure. Either the Vanilla Version was released unfinished, or Final Mix was made to add new stuff for the game. But since DLC was non-existent back then, their only option was to make a new version of the game proper
Then again, we live in a world where Persona 5 & Persona 5 Royal exist as separate games in an age where DLC is normalized, so~ yeah

Oh if you think the worlds just being beat for beat the movies they're based on is bad here you're going to hate the way they do it in KH3 like Sora, Donald and Goofy look like they're awkwardly placed the only acceptations being Monster Inc, Toy Story and worlds that were in the previous games.

Yeah, when people say they hate Demyx, we were SPECIFICALLY referring to his harder DATA version.
Of course he has nothing on Lingering Will. There's a good reason Lingering Will is widely considered the hardest enemy in Kingdom Hearts, up till KH3 DLC.
Well, I never knew that. All I heard from folks is that they hate Demyx because of the water illusions without specifying that they mean Data Demyx.

The DATA version just makes this already annoying fight an actual nightmare.

@@tonysonic456 His Water Clones & reaction command (mostly the former cause failing them means instant kill for... Reasons) are kind of a pain, but assuming you didn't give him a chance to spam those attacks, that's probably why he was so easy for you
@@BardockSkywalker When I fought him normally, I kinda just went haywire on the clones and abused the reaction command to swing them around and smack the others. In the Data Battle, I had to use the Wisdom Form very carefully to win.

Maybe it’s because Roxas during his final attack on Rik when Riku tried shielding, broke his wrist and has never healed it.

358 is my favorite because Roxas is my favorite character and I still have my DS copy because of that.
Ugh I remember the first time I fought the Lingering Will and yeah the ptsd is strong with this one. When I got to that point I hoped I could finally beat him and I did so in one of the most bizarre ways I've beaten a boss. Basically the strategy I looked up on winning the fight was this-Jump, hit, jump, hit and so on until I finally got Lingering Will's health to 0. At first I thought it was a joke but then I tried it and yeah this method really saved me the stress of repeatedly fighting him. Good luck on future secret bosses some of them really broke me.

By the way just so You know when You get to KH3 there's an Achivement that requiers You to beat all the Bosses with 13 set of battle restrictions like sticking with level 1 stats You don't need to turn them all on just 10 or 11 of them is enough and i recommend looking up beeboy cubed's videos description's for the Equipment You need and Guides for any Fight You're having Trouble with

34:32 According to what I read from someone on Tumblr once, the reason why Riku runs like that is because in 358/2 Days (bit of a spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't seen or played it yet), during his fight with Roxas, Roxas ended up hitting him on the wrist of his left arm pretty badly, so he apparently is wearing a wrist brace (or what seems to be a makeshift one), and the reason why we don't see him run like this while as Rikansem (What I've called the form Riku took on for most of KH2), is because I theorize that while in that form, he gets a large power boost that gives off the same energy as being constantly pumped with adrenaline, meaning his body wouldn't register the pain until he was forcefully transformed back.
So he runs with his left arm down, seemingly clutching his hip, because Roxas broke his wrist? I'll wait until I play 358/2 Days before I believe that, but if it is true, then that's weird.
I didn’t use any of the Drive forms since there was no combo list anywhere for Valor despite using X and 🟪 for unique moves, and I died almost instantly at The Land of Dragons since I was playing on Critical. Wisdom is also too slippery and you have no melee moves which made sense. But at the same time while starting out, I also hated the Magic system as well. I hate how fire became a ring of fire, blizzard became a singular ice, and thunder becoming less of an AOE attack. Cure could’ve saved it, but it uses up all MP, which made sense, but that meant there is no way to replenish MP unless I wait. MP orbs do NOTHING in the auto-regen phase. That meant I saw no reason to use magic either. Reflect also seemed like a guard- THE ONLY GUARD- but it costed MP. No thanks. It wasn’t until I grinded for the Drive Forms cause they were the ONLY way to even get a DODGING MOVE. On top of that, Dodge Roll is also nonexistent unless you grind limit form. You get a worse version of dodge when grinding for Wisdom. I almost dreaded the first act of this game cause of Critical mode obviously, but also cause I felt like I have little options to combat enemies. Blocking also felt pointless since you could still get hit by other enemies or even the enemy you’re blocking anyway, and that was a big problem in Timeless River, especially with the Hot Rods. I was also peeved off at the camera system of the game. Yeah you can see more, but it may be the worst camera in the series because you cannot switch targets. AT ALL. I gave up on Port Royal cause I just learned that the controller I’m using has an awful deadzone now, and this game demands that you push the stick ALL the way forward to even run from enemies, meaning I died a lot. Port Royal had these pesky men and I had poor reaction for those gunners. After what was probably a year, I used a different controller that worked, and not only that, I began to use magic a little more. Blizzard is their weakness since they are skeletons after all. This world may not have been the highlight, but I did somewhat enjoy it. I still hated the lock-on system to the point where I relied on the auto-lock since it was better and can change who you’re attacking as well as the fact that this game felt more hack-and-slashy compared to the original. I even learned to use the Drive Forms since as it turns out not only do they replenish your health back to full, which makes Cure nearly useless, but it also replenishes your ***MP*** AS WELL, giving me all the reason to use magic! Sure it costed a bit of Drive, but it’s worth paying for since Drive can be replenished by any enemy almost. This was why I used Limit the most (before Final was used cause the Two Become One was literally the only way to unlock it) since the limits are powerful, can straight up be abused since the limits replenish HP, and thus, if you have the right Abilities, can replenish MP as well, allowing for many Sonics or Raids, and you are invulnerable with some of them. Plus you can use them at ANY battle, meaning free heals and MP with the cost of around uhhhh FOUR drive gauges.
It wasn’t until Hollow Bastion’s second visit that I learned to love this game and this franchise as a whole, as I appreciated the silly idea of a SE and Disney crossover. It’s magical in a sense.
Despite all the ranting and complaining I’ve made… my goodness, I haven’t played a game where I actually prefer the SEQUEL of the game over the original, in a LONG time. Combat’s great, story’s great, even the bosses were great, even the Data Battles despite kicking my behind. And the ending’s just the cherry on top. Yeah the final phase could be more interesting in terms of gameplay, but it was an awesome way to finish nonetheless.

6:42 I actually saw a recent video clip of the House of Mouse involving Goofy where he essentially knows about two secrets of the other cast members (Mickey and Donald) that it took Clarabelle a while to know. Clarabelle asks “You know about them?” And Goofy responds “I may be goofy, but I’m no idiot!” Which I think also explains KH3 Goofy as well and other Goofy moments. He’s a goof, but he’s not un-intelligent and he’s definitely perceptive. So it’s consistent.
Yeah, but that's just one depiction. Most other versions portray Goofy as a bumbling doofus. Heck, The Three Musketeers interpretation had him acknowledge the fact that he's not very bright.
What?! You beat Demyx on Crirical mode first try?! Damn, i feel inadequate. My inferior gaming skills aside, if you think this game is bad with re-telling the same OG Disney stories, wait till you get to Kingdom Hearts 3, which granted is kind of 50-50 but still. And yeah, i thought it was ridiculous that The Little Mermaid's story was re-done 1 year later

44:06 if you're complaining about Lingering Will being too hard, I can imagine how pissed you'll be once you reach Yozora in KH3. I promise you, you'll feel like quiting video games in general after a few sessions with him.
Going back to Lingering Will, he's a superboss that's available to fight very late into the game, he's suppose to be a challenge so his difficulty is expected. Besides, after you learn his moveset he can be countered and punished. The dude actually does encourage you to utilizes combos and mix ups aside from simply hitting X to win. The only times I will call BS is Lingering Will killing me with his command seals because I couldn't get the dispell command while he's still hitting me without pause spamming. That and when he activates his Desperate Move multiple times in a row, preventing me from hitting him at all to disrupt his DM abuse. Granted, those are blue moon moments and that did happen to me twice, but he can be learned, downloaded, and punished.
I understand your perspective, but in my opinion, even after I learned everything I could from the fight, it was still too hard to be fun. I can enjoy some intentionally hard games, but there comes a point where difficulty becomes more frustrating than fun. Also, yeah, I’m TERRIFIED of facing Yozora.
@@tonysonic456I will say this, watch a guide, because Yozora's moveset is EXTREMELY difficult. Hell, there were moments when he does his desperate move at the start of the fight. Yes... Yozora can do that. Thank god it's a blue moon moment and it only happened to me once.

Honestly, I think even Birth by Sleep doesn't keep to that rule due to Ventus telling Isa and Lea in Radiant Garden he's not from there.

@@tonysonic456 To be honest, that whole rule shouldn't exist due to the fact Keyblade wielders ARE still technically 'meddling' due to trying to keep the piece of the worlds. Add on the fact that like 99% someone is probably getting attacked by heartless, unversed, nobodies etc.

… I mean, Goofy *is* the Captain of the Guard in Disney Castle, and he knows what it’s like to be a blubbering mess, I don’t doubt he could spot a scaredy cat like early movie Mulan especially since her voice isn’t that far off for Goofy to be like “hmm, that don’t sound like a guy.”

@@tonysonic456Goofy’s established character varies from movie to movie, sure he’s known for his oddities and incompetence that get a chuckle out of those watching, Goofy and Donald also grow progressively in KH, KH1 has them as loyal supporters of the King who don’t disobey because of their status, sure, Donald is somewhat a coward and Goofy is kinda idiotic, but since meeting Sora and as you’ve stated “Movies happen in some capacity” in KH, that means their development sticks too, including moments where where Goofy isn’t always a nutcase, Disney as a brand loves making Goofy unchanging, but this interpretation of Goofy of where Goofy is the maturest among the other two makes the dynamic between the 3 more remarkable since Donald and Goofy aren’t stuck as the cowardly idiots carbon copies of their original counterparts, anyways, love the video! Keep up the great work!

Ok, tony Sonic, 3 pieces of advice are coming at you for 358/2 days. 1. Levling up is completely different in this game. You have a girde, and to level up, you have level pannles, and you have to put your level ups on each tiles same with your magic and other stuff you want to use. 2 to get the unlock able is easy. Some will unlock automatically for the last 3 you have to earn by buying them with the points you earn in the missions you do. And 3. This game is a mission based game, so don't rush this game. Take your time cause you will burn yourself out playing this game like kh 1, chain of memories and kh2.

Witz kh2 as one of my favorite games I agree with a lot. Although complaining about the difficult content being bad because its too difficult on the highest difficulty and not changing the gummy ship firering controls is a bit weird
Thing is, despite playing on the highest difficulty, there were multiple fights that I enjoyed. A couple of them were hard, but they were still fun enough to win. It's just that certain fights went a little too far and made the experience worse. Also, I didn't know there was an option to change the Gummi Ship's firing controls.

I don't want to be the guy, but if you're playing on critical, why do you have such a big health bar? Normally the HP is drastically reduced. Unless that's not your gameplay. In that case... Why? Good Video Though.
To be fully transparent, I just grabbed footage online. I would've captured my own, but I only just recently got a capture card. Even then, I want to reserve it for live streaming which will hopefully happen very soon.
