- Hi guys, I am so excited to be back and take this channel in a slight new direction.. or just go back to the roots really:) I am giving myself a challenge to make as much of my own clothes as possible. I might only reach 30% home made, but hopefully 50 or 80% homemade DIY clothes. I am also trying to make it as Climate Friendly as possible and I will share with you as I learn information about this topic moving forward:)

So happy to see you again! I’d enjoy the ideas you have, particularly enjoy the clothing segments.
Yay, thank you!
I just pulled the sewing machine out after 30 years. I never really learned to sew well, but my twenty year old wants to learn, so she has You Tube and me for a teacher!
Also- going with your gut is always the best thing to do! We women have very good intuitions! 😁
That is awesome! hope she has fun figuring it out:)
I tried small and couldn’t manage it I need space. Life is learning. I hope you and your family are happy and well. Thanks for the update!
Thank you:) We are currently debating how big a house we need and what we want and matching it up with what we can afford:) We are very well thank you:)
So nice to see you, Maria. I look forward to following you on your clothing adventure!
Yay, thank you!
Happy you took time for yourself. Your plans moving forward all sound good I sew and knit.
I like your travel trailer around Europe series. If u can do any travel these days. Good luck with sewing your own clothes. Anxious to see the new wardrobe.
Hi, im so happy your back :). Due to you i live a more minimal life, and started sewing last year. Cant wait.
Wonderful! I'm SO happy to hear that:)
Anything you want to do is fine with me! The clothing design /creation idea is a great idea! It'll be good to șee what creative ideas you're up to. Love and Blessings, Sarah. 💐👏🏼💖🙏
Thank you Sarah:):)
I glad you are well. Welcome back!
Thank you Rita:)
So good to see your lovely face again. I've thought of you and your little family often over the time you've been away. Life changes, interests change, so it makes sense that what you share with us would be somewhat different. Looking forward to seeing how you go with your clothing. I can't really sew but I've been buying more and more ethical clothing.
Great to se you are still here Libby:) I will try make them as informative as possible about ethical fashion too.. as I learn and get comfortable with it:)
Hey :) So nice to see you back on UA-cam. I stuck around in case you were coming back, glad that you used the time off to think about what is important to YOU! Luckily that resonates with me ;) Capsule wardrobe and simple living, but the "making clothes yourself" part sounds equally intriguing. I was never trained to sew and I could barely sew a pillowcase, but two weeks ago I pulled the sewing machine back out to make masks for friends and colleagues and I would love to continue to learn. So if you could share some tips and tricks on how to work with fabric etc in your videos as well, that would be wonderful. Looking forward to the next video :) bye xx
Thank you for sewing masks:) I will try to include some tips along the way.. in the knitting "department" however I have no tips.. ha ha only trial and error ha ha:) Keep your mashine out and we can learn together:)
@@Godownsize Sounds very good :) I am looking forward to it!
Yes! Go with your gut! I assumed you were busy with life. You had a little, busy human to get use to, and to take care of. Nice to see you! 😊
Yes! Thank you! Max is super buzzy so I don't know how I will get it done but I will find a way:)
Go Downsize of course you will! 👍🏾
I‘ve missed you so much !! 💌
Thank you!!! I missed it all, just needed a break from it all. Excited to move forward:)
Welcome 😊 back. For myself I have so many clothings I don't know what to do with all of them.
ahh funny, My drawer is exploding a bit too these days since I need to get rid of the stuff that's to worn out.. I just need to make some new items first:)
Glad you are back.
Glad to be back.. finally:)
Glad to see you back! My family is on a journey of simplifying our lives as much as we are all comfortable with. We are minimizing the amount of furniture in our home. Less to maintain and replace so we can spend more time and money on the more enjoyable parts of life. :)
Love that! Hope you have a fun journey:)
Welcome back!!! I wouldn't mind seeing thrift videos of minimalism videos! How is little Max doing? Love from the UK😉
Great idea!! I'm not a big thrifter, but morten is great at it, so might have to get his input on it:) Minimalism-that I can do:):) He is doing GREAT, almost 4 and full of energy!:)
Welcome back!
thanks:)
I've always loved your decluttering videos, and all of your crafty/maker videos!
Ah thank you, I'm glad to hear it, there will be plenty of those:) Thank you for letting me know:) I'm SO happy comments are back on:)
@@Godownsize it was really nice to hear your voice and see your face! I've missed you!
So glad you are well and back! Missed your energy and videos. Very excited for new project that you are focusing on. I just started a year ago on the same exact journey - my goal is to have my wardrobe all either be sewn by me from natural fibers (no more polyester!) or second hand/consignment. It is a process and definitely will take years, but very rewarding so far. What book did you read / will recommend? What goals do you have (I have sew 1 piece in 3 months)?
Thank you so much!! That is awesome that you are doing the same thing!!:) I don't have set goals with amount of time and items, but I need to replace a good chunk of my clothes within the next year, so the plan is that I want to replace with homemade as the old items fall apart:) I hate polyester too, always get headaches when I wear it, so mostly cotton for me:)
It is so funny that this showed up on my subscriptions today! I'd just been wondering if things were okay. I always really enjoyed your videos and found them really inspirational. I'm glad you are doing good and posting again
I'm so glad, so nice with this responce from every one:)! I hope you will like the future videos as well:)
I am thrilled about your idea! As I knit and sew, this kind of content is right up my alley! Cant wait!
That is great, nice to know viewers who enjoy the same things:)
I'm so glad to have you back! I've missed your videos and to be honest your ideas and plans for future videos are very interesting to me. Also, I've been on a similar clothing journey. I've started by making tops for myself this summer. It's very rewarding!
So happy to see you back!
thanks:)
Great to have you back! Hugs from Uruguay 😊
Yay! Thank you!
Welcome Back!!! The best way to do UA-cam is to make content on what you are passionate about. Enjoy yourself and we will enjoy the content. :) Looking forward to watching your videos again. :)
Well said! Thank you for your support:) It took me a while to figure it out haha but better late than never right:)
Welcome back. Would love to see the wardrobe challenge. It would inspire me to sew as well. If you can sew wedding dresses (which I think is complicated), you would be able to sew everyday clothes, without a doubt in my mind. The saying is do not look up at the mountain, but just take the first step. Good luck. Thanks Gillian@HoustonTexas
Thanks Gillian, I am focusing on one step at the time and to not get to perfectionistic.. because then I wont get started at all:):)
Welcome back. You son and my daughter are almost the same age. I have also been sewing my own clothes, mostly tops and I try to use fabric that has been donated to a few 2nd hand craft/art stores here in Sydney Australia. The good thing about sewing is the leftovers projects that didn’t work can be used for shorts/singlets/t-shirts and skirts for my daughter. I also have leftover black knit fabric to make underwear for myself. Also don’t just think about garments, making your own quilts/pillow cases and my favorite donna cover is made from scrappy knit fabric.
That is awesome, now I have something to aspire to:):) That is amazing that you even made your own underwear.. that will probably be one of the last things I get to, but could be fun:) So much of my clothes is on it's last leg so I will have plenty of opportunities to sew a lot in the next few months:) Did you make your own patterns or use the store bought ones? So cool that you are able to find fabric secondhand, I don't think that will be possible in Denmark, but I have seen more fabric stores really gearing up their organic cotton suplies so I hope to be able to find something nice there:)
Welcome back and I am so excited to see where you go :)
Ah thank you Karina:) Me too, feels nice to be able to kind of start fresh again:)
Welcome back :D , I look forward to tips of simple living and I think DIYing your clothing sound very interesting (It's not something for me, I mean I cannot do it myself, but I wanna see the challenge and cheer you on!)
Thank you! 😊There will still be plenty of Simple living videos too, don't worry:) Thank you for letting me know:)
Maria, I just listened to you as guest on Homemarkers chic? I thought wonder what had happened. Yes, we all need breaks. Years back, I wanted to try the same experiment of making my own clothes. I love linen, and wanted a style of my own. I thought chic bohemian was who I was. The cost was out of my league. So then I started repurposing thrifted clothes( using fabric) that I loved and had some fun with that. So yes, please would love to take this challenge with you.
ie) I've been making cloth masks. It been a challenge to get supplies.
Love seeing you.
Lisa
That sounds great Lisa, sounds like you got quite a lot of clothes made though:) I'm excited.. the plan is to replace things with homemade items as things get worn out, don't know how to make jeans though but I'll figure it out:):) Please do the challenge with me and let me know how you are doing:)
Welcome back. I have missed you. I love the idea of doing a capsule wardrobe series. Looking forward to seeing your take on this.
Welcome back, I missed your videos. I'm glad you're back and doing well. Looking forward to new videos.
Thank you!
New follower and your wardrobe sewing plans sound great!
Yay! Thank you!
Glad you are back. 💙
Thank you!
I'm excited to see your new journey!!! I'd love to see more wardrobe stuff too!! If while you're on your wardrobe making journey, you could give us more tips on space saving for small spaces for clothes that would still be AH-MAZING!!!! I've always loved your videos & ur IG & no matter what you're sharing with us I'll continue to watch u!! 😀
Glad you're doing OK!! 💜💜
Welcome back, Maria!!! You’ve been missed.
thank you:):)
Hi from Brazil! I love your videos because you are so nice and sincere! If you can, talk about how to reduce things that we love the most, in my case books, dvds e vinyls.
Ah thank you Edson that means a lot:) I actually did a video on this topic 3 years ago, maybe it will help you ua-cam.com/video/wluSPjLhJhY/v-deo.html And if you really love them keep them and downsize more in an area with item you might not care as much about, like the kitchen, photos, shoes ect:)
Welcome back.
Ah thank:)
The wardrobe part is exciting! I am soooo happy that your back!
Yay! Thank you!
Hurray for your reform. I’ve missed you.
Yay, thank you! Molly:)
Happy you are back. The new content sounds interesting.
I hope so! Thanks:)
It's good to see you again, Maria. How is your family doing in this quarantine? :)
We are doing fine actually. Denmark closed down very early and as a result didn't have to close down combletely, most shops have been open and daycares and school up to 6th grade have been opened back up for a week now. Of course it's still a bad situation and the restrictions are hard in the long run, but not so bad here and soaking up the spring weather we have had over the past month:)
Welcome back Maria!
Than you Bea, happy to hear from you:)
You can do the settings for comments
I was concerned. Glad to see you again.

Yay!!!!How are You???
So good actually:) Happy to start sharing again:)
Nice to have you back :)
Thank you, and than you for your patience:)
@@Godownsize of course, we all need a bit of break once in a while. Specially if you have family. So no worries. Looking forward for some new content. In case you have a bit free time it would be nice to grab a cap of coffee in Aarhus.
@@gene8194 That would be fun after this summer when Covid is over. Also we leave in 2 weeks and have a lot of things to take care of before that trip, so time is limited right now:)
@@Godownsize no worries, coffee when the weather is bad as just as good as now. Hope you will have a great trip, and let's connect again after you come back.
Amazing to see you back! 🙂
Loved your baby stuff and all downsized wardrobe videos.
Now my son is 1 year old and planning to move to Denmark. It would be fantastic to hear your thoughts on minimal moving. 🙂
Looking forward to what you want to share.
Thanks:)
We missed you so much
I'm glad you did what you needed to do to take care of yourself. How's Max?! (given the platform...this is obviously a rhetorical question). Hope the family is well.
Thank you Stacy:) Max is doing great, almost 4 which is crazy!! He keeps us buzzy:)
It's so nice to see you back on youtube!
Thank you Jenny, always nice to see a comment from you:)
Welcome back! Would love to follow along with the clothing making journey 🤓
Awesome! Thank you!
Just wanted to say hi! Thanks for your videos, they're so nice to watch. 🙋♀️

✨😎 happy to see you again!
Thank you! 😃
Hello! Sounds interesting! I would be interested in seeing you sew from already made pieces of clothing, but altering them to your style and size!!
Great idea! Thanks Denise:)
I'm looking forward to watching your videos again 💕
Yay! Thank you!
Can you do a new born/baby must have as a minimalist? I would love your opinion and what you did/do. 😆🤞 thank you.
Hi Nancy, I did a video on this topic 3 years ago, you might like it:) There are also a few videos about the amount of baby clothes you need :) ua-cam.com/video/yUXJ3KJu0wU/v-deo.html
yay! I kept wondering what happened with your channel :)
Thanks Amber, glad to be back and hope you will like the new videos:)
Wanting to know what happened with the "van life."

Hi Maria!
Hi, I've missed your comments over the past year, thank you for still being here:)
Hi 👋🏼
Yeah...that would be nice 👍🏼 to watch videos about making ur own clothing 😀.. I have been making my own clothing in a way.. for some time now. I did not go to school for it like urself, but watch some UA-cam video & have the Holy Spirit help me make things when I could not find any videos on UA-cam 😀
That's awesome.. with youtube and the holy spirit most things must be possible:):):)
hello i would love to see how to make clothing content, good day.
awesome, will be coming up:)
Can you split up the different video content into two channels?
nah I think I'll just keep posting to one.. maintaining 2 is a lot of work:)
Nice to see you again! Look up #memademay to get inspiration for your memade wardrobe on instagram :)
Great idea!!
Superkul, intresserad av ALLT!
Ah tak:)
2nd like and 1st comment
You rock! Yeay comments work.. Uh I'm so relieved:)
Okay stop poking I want to see some tiny houses enough expensive ones either for no $40,000 it defeats the purpose of minimalism..
No, it's just all relative. Like a family is going to need more than 1-2 people would. They're still minimizing, but just to scale for their needs.
There's just no one size fits all, it's not a competition where people have to outdo each other, but as long as everyone understands that and stops with the defeat nonsense, then there are always options to consider.
Like there are budget Builders like Incredible Tiny Homes that can make a 16' THOW starting at $20,000... and they offer a kit version so people can opt to finish the interior themselves to get the price down to $15,000...
While people who travel or will live in more ideal climate areas can opt to use a RV or convert one, which can be done for very little if they shop smart and understand the trade offs with going that route.
But certain things, like high quality windows and having lots of them, equipment to live off-grid, land, being able to travel in the home, meeting special needs like wheelchair accessibility, energy efficiency and things to ensure the home is healthy to live in, etc. will jack up the costs involved.
Building new will also generally cost more than buying old and used. But you have more control over what you get with something new and often have to adapt and consider secondary costs more with something old and used...
So part of what has to be understood are the trade offs... Minimalizing only gets you so far if you're still including the most expensive features to have but nothing comes free of any trade offs and that means some people may need a reality check of what they'll end up with to reach the lowest costs versus what they need will cost...
thanks:)
Welcome back!
Thanks:)
