forget all this legal and not legal non-sense the governing bodies of judo keeps making stupid rules to differentiate itself from wrestling and bjj they should just go back to "what works"
It's one of my favourite chokes in BJJ -- I catch people with it all the time. One thing I do differently than Yarden, is that I put the weight of my whole chest on the person in turtle, not just one hand. It's to stop them from sitting out, or rolling to guard while I'm setting up the choke.
Has anyone else had those times where you can just tell from a video that it would be extremely fun and beneficial to train with and learn from the person presenting? I feel she is one of those people, as is the owner of this channel, of course. Just my opinion.
It's demonstrating that the technique goes from under opponent's left armpit to right shoulder and that top of your hand touches opponent so you can grab your lapel.
Why do you need to use your own gi at all? why not do a simple hasami jime? going with your hand under the opponent is dangerous imho and he can simply lay down if he/she notices your hand coming.
Isn't this currently illegal under IJF rules? I'll definitely look to use it in BJJ though.
Not legal, you cant choke with your lapel, only sith your sleeves. Also uts illegal to undo your judogi loke that

I'm glad i retired before they made almost everything illegal...soon seio nage and uchi mata will be the only legal moves!

Love this choke.
Is this a legal choke if you don’t use your own gi?
Canto choke. It is legal
Nice footage coach
@Ray w
Am I the only one that thinks they're are watering down judo with all these unnecessary rules?
yeaa, unfortunately that is the price for being a part of the Olympics.
I believe there must be some safety issue with it although I don’t know what it is. I can’t see any other reason such a rule would exist.

Can you describe what was shown at this point?
Is this a critical detail?
Thanks again for your work!
