Instead, we pooled our money----money that would have been spent on this non-book, and donated the sum to a warming shelter for homeless people. We also donated socks and underwear----two things needed all the time. We're old birds, and we are discerning readers. "Spare" should be sold as fiction, or science fiction, because reality is distorted and delusions reign supreme.

This is the very book that was also left in hotel rooms. They can't even give it away. I never purchased or know anyone who has. Even my local supermarket moved it from the front of the store to near the back where all books were stored. The cover alone had me want to punch it.
They have no conception how lucky they are and even when they are directly faced with how others survive not ‘live’ because that word implies that they coping. People who are grateful for a single meal a day or water to drink, yet these two walk away from the sight of these hardships and immediately cry poor me, I need more millions to make me happy.
