Did this in mid-February, only person around for miles and miles, and wondered if anyone had videoed it before. What a treat to relive this unique and at times rather freaky experience. Thanks for posting!
Awesome mate, cheers will go for a walk one day when im next in Queenstown. 👍 Are you working building more mountain bike tracks down that way are you?
thank you for amazing video! i'm planning to go to queenstown upcoming february, maybe i should go to this route! can i check this route on alltrails? (do you use alltrails>?)
@@TomWoodwardVideos Thanks. Tried to attempt this yesterday. Had to turn back 1.5km from the summit. 2-3 feet of deep snow. Trail blazing was tough. Could have pushed through if i had enough time. But the views along the ridge was amazing. I’m gonna attempt this again in good conditions. Thanks for your video!

Good trip aye, thanks for commenting. It’s actually a great ridge to ride a mtb on too. I might make a video for that next.
Love the footage - an inspirational climb. Loving the sunset of the kea!
Cheers mate, it’s a great circuit
This is an absolutely amazing video! What a stunning view! No people around and this soothing music in the background. Ahhh, well done Tom !!

Track 24 hours open to the summit ????
yeah, just take a light if you're doing it after dark. And be sure to remember where the track enters the forest.
Sick video mate. How long would it take to climb up in winter? And would microspikes be enough gear?
Shouldn’t need microspikes, I’ve never used them. Just kick decent foot holds in.
I would say 3 hours up, 2 down is ample in winter.
Hi Tom, great video. Do you reckon this is doable a the end of September? Or too much snow?
You can do it all year, but normally in September there’s quite a bit of snow. That just makes it more fun though.
Amazing! How long did it take to get to the summit during winter?
It adds another hour give or take.
Depends on how thick the snow is.

Well done, amazing views from there aye
Maybe they call it the burn because a burn in Scotland is a stream.
I didn’t know that. There’s lots of burns around here. So that’s what it means.
Thought that didn’t sound like a Scottish accent then realised there must be a Ben Lomond in New Zealand.
Yeah it was named after the mountain in Scotland 🏴🤙
how high amsl?
It’s 1748 m
Well we liked them Douglas fir trees on the hills since growing up there since 1968 now every knob hates them
Yeah that's because they weren't a problem back in the 60s. Now they're all grown big and are spreading and destroying the environment.
