  • Hi guys,
Simon here from the FFF and welcome to a brand-new show called The Never Forget Series where I profile very important, prolific footballers from all over the world who mostly plied their trade pre1960s.
The reason I’m doing this is because there are a ton of players most fans have likely never heard of and there’s a lot of World Cup winners, goalscoring record holders, and legendary figures who most will struggle to identify. Hopefully you enjoy this show but most importantly, you Never Forget!
    Special thanks to:

Watching videos of Duncan Edwards always brings to mind an occasion many years ago when I was serving as an apprentice at a Wolverhampton engineering firm.
I had been placed under the guidance of a senior mechanic named George, who had a profound knowledge of football and who loved nothing more than to recount his memories of watching Wolverhampton Wanderers in their halcyon days of the 1950s. I knew that Wolves greatest rivals during that period were Manchester United and I knew that George had a particular dislike for them. With that in mind, I reasoned that any opinion George may have of United players of that period would not likely be clouded by nostalgia, and so I proceeded to ask him:...'Did you ever see Duncan Edwards play, George'...'I certainly did', he responded.....'And was he really as good as they say', I asked....George momentarily raised his eyes skyward as if seeking divine inspiration for the right words. He then lowered his gaze and asked me:...'did you ever see Pele play, son?'....'yes I did, George', I responded....He then looked me straight in the eye and muttered only 2 more words:.......'FORGET PELE'.
I was no longer in any doubt as to just how truly great Duncan Edwards must have been.

Great work & players like Kevin Beattie, Bryan Robson, Gerrard, Rooney & De Bruyne have been compared to him. Too many the most complete player ever.
It would be great if you could get someone on who saw him play.

Another person who knows fuck all. Gerrard was shit he couldn't hit a 40yard pass in the 6pince ever he would hit 40 a game in his long ball team nd manage to get 1 on target.
Scholes did it every pass every game nd training session.
Only idiots think Gerrard was any sort of player

@@TwRagnar A top player Gerrard, one of the best & most complete. I don't disagree on his passing ability, he could pass & great but not as often as players like Pirlo & Scholes. Scholes the better player to me, the 2nd best PL midfielder behind De Bruyne IMO.
      You never rated Gerrard then?

@@tt99football56 well charlton are the best England player of all time..and even he said he was inferior with Duncan's abilities and talents...lets not forget Duncan also achieved top 3 on the Ballon Dor votes in 1957.. and he debut three years earlier than charlton despite 1 year gap between them..show how better Duncan Edwards were and nothing to compare with gerrard and all othe england players....

56/57 season, his 100 appearances wasn't for the club alone, it involved internationals, football league representations, england b games as well as international but more over it included army games.

Johan Cruyff is pronounced Croyff not Crowff as you said in this video. You're no football fan.

Hahaha I've lived in the Netherlands for the last 3 years. It's the Dutch pronunciation. You look a bit silly now, don't you?

@@thefootballfanforce962 Why don't Dutch footballer's call him that then? I've never heard anyone use that pronunciation before. I have no reason to doubt your story but why let the rest of the world continue to call him by the wrong name all this time?

@@stephenturner6075 I guess people just pronounce it how they like. If Dutch people are speaking English they might say it how an English person will say it. As I am a fluent Dutch speaker, I thought I would do the same.
