I'm from the Red Bank/Jersey Shore area so this run of shows was a must see for everybody. I was at this show and lucky enough to be at the last show of the run. Great great shows. Thanks for posting this.
Wow.....you're so lucky that you've seen Bruce and the band in the early years. According to brucebase this was the first show with the Miami horns....Concerning the speed of the recording I got it like this.....
Yep - This was supposed to be on the Album after BTR. But, the Boss got angry with Mike Appel & his record contract. He fought them for 2 1/2 years in court and won. Indeed - it was then all new songs "Darkness on the Edge of Town" ...and the rest they say - is History! - 1. Thundercrack 2. Rendezvous 3. Linda Let Me Be The One 4. Lonely Night in the Park 5. Seaside Bar Song 6. The Promise 7. The Fever 8. Ain't Got You 9. A Love So Fine 10. Thunder Road (acoustic)
Actually the Court case lasted ten months. But it still changed everything musically. Financially Bruce had to go in debt to the record company to pay off his old manager and the lawyers. Then he found out he and the entire band owed years of back taxes with interest and penalties. Every penny from Darkness on the Edge of Town (and part of the money from The River) went to those debts and many others that had gone unpaid. Bruce was broke his entire life until The River became a hit album when he was already in his thirties. Just before Born in the USA was released (knowing it was going to be his biggest seller and greatly boost the sales of his previous albums) Bruce bought back the remaining rights his old manager still had to his old records. A smart business move that saved Bruce millions that his old manager lost out on due to his shortsightedness.
My second Springsteen concert. The small venue spoiled me forever!!
Glad you like it!!! Yes....I love the way Bruce sounded way back then.....

I was at this show. I think your tape is playing a little slow though.
