What could common nomads, who lived in tents know anything about art and architecture. Do you think the barbarians from Afghanistan and Central Asia grew the spices that go into what they call Mughlai cuisine. This is the destruction which happens when you blindly follow a single normal person's teachings without questioning and asking questions are not allowed. Even today, many people are learning the same teachings and knowledge which Bhaktiyar Khilji learnt that motivated him to destroy Nalanda University.

When khilji comes to Bihar , he get sick . Then one of the Guru of Nalanda..Mr. Shastri gave him a book (Quran) to study. After studying for few days , khilji became fit and healthy. He asked the Guru , how he became well after reading that book. The Guru replied that the Book was dipped in a medicine before giving to him. Since Muslim while reading book use saliva to move pages to turn, so medicine get into his body in a small amount daily and cure him. Since khilji was egoistic and became angry on this and understood that people would not become slave with that power of knowledge, so he burnt it. Almost 9 million manuscript were burnt, a few was saved by monks and moved to China. Fire continued for 3 to 6 months.
It was said that even the gatekeeper of Nalanda University should knows 7 language to communicate with foreign students at that time.
This video is misleading. The reason for destroying Nalanda was ISLAM. These secular guys shake in their boots when it comes to telling truth.

Just like Nalanda, the Huns destroyed Taxila which was also a world renowned University of it's time. Many famous Shastras were written in Taxila University including Arthshashtra by Chanakya.

Nalanda university was primarily a Buddhist monastic institution or universities. The principle subject were Buddhist philosophy, literature, grammar, medicine snd astrology and comparative relation such as Hinduism and Jainism. But all of others are auxiliary. Now there is deliberate attempt to erase the Buddhist prinicipality with Nalanda and promote the ancient Nalanda as secular university. Islamic invader alone is not readon. Brahmins and Hindu kings too played role complete destruction. It was not just Nalanda university but Buddhism in Indian subcontinent was destroyed. So Islamic invaders alone theory destroyed Nalanda sounds not credible. Islamic invaders did played significant role.
Pakistani government can think of reviving the Taksh Sheela university too. It’s a cultural heritage of Central Asia.
