  • Let's sharpen up an axe using my Tormek t-8 and see how sharp we can get it! Will it cut wet or dry wood any differently? Let's cut up some oak, beech, framing lumber, fir, cedar etc...
Thanks Tormek for collaborating with me! Check out their stuff:

Nice job. Clearly sharp. Can you recommend a video for those of us without a Tormek? I have a "hockey puck" stone but must not be using it correctly. Thanks for sharing.

Wow that was fun :) And as a bonus, you've got some great wood stakes if any vampires should come around!

I thought Swedes used axes while holding a shield in the other hand? ;-)

This is as sharp as any axe, adze, spoke-shave that Roy Underhill would use on the Woodwright's Shop on PBS. 👍 Especially, specially, on the green stuff.

Love the tormek, one ..day lol, but hold the axe a bit lower and you have more moment and it is saver as well, and if you are shaping for example spoons, than you "choke" the axe ( hold it under the head) for full control, i can shave with all of my axes, bushcraft or woodworking, and i keep them sharp with just a strop, only when i rebuild the axe because hitting a stone or such Than i use a band sander with a old used sanding band that is so fine . but that is very rare, and i have my axes for over 30 years Swedish of course LOL for knife and axes only swedish make. They never disappointed me or failed me in the norwegian harsh climate or even in jungles.

With all due respect that is not how you sharpen an axe, there should be no second bevel, plus the edge should be stoned after grinding. that is why is was not cutting very well.
