Clear sound
I think I like the Dentons with this Sony amp more than any we've heard them with yet. Still a bit bright up top. (1 demo with grills on please, E) To me the mids seem the most natural with it. Bass is tight, but not as fleshy as the AXA35s. It has a similar type of flow as the Denon, with a bit more focus and definition. Nice imaging too. Very typical of Sony amps. Clean, fairly texturaly detailed, reasonably refined, nice energy, yet somehow just a touch sterile and not ultimately engaging. On that front it could be argued the Cambridges are slightly better.
I think it's pretty close between the Sony STRDG500 and the Denon DRA800H but isn't the Sony a golden oldie ? Seems like E is developing a taste for vintage 😀 ?
Can I put in a request for the Wharfedale Denton 80th VS the Elac Debuet Reference on the Rega Brio?
You can, and you have 😀
@@davidcarr2216 hahaha
E may or may not do any comparison demos anymore, but I'll bet you're gonna have to really like a somewhat warmed, and even slightly subdued sound to really dig the Elac DBR62s with the Rega.
I like warmer combos more than most, but am pretty sure it would be a bit dark and lacking upper range energy even for me.. The Dentons can stand to lose a bit more HF extension and presence region info than the Elac, and I think may be a reasonable match with the Brio.
@@williammiebach1798 It would be good to hear the DBR62s on E’s new set up to give them a fair crack of the whip. I haven’t listened to my Denton 80s for a while now but the last time I did they were fine with the Audiolab 8300a. It does seem to me that they like a clean Clasd A/B amp. If E wants to demo the Dentons/DBR62s or BRO3s with the Brio that would be great. I hope E doesn’t stop doing the demos altogether, even if he slows down a lot. He’s managed to put loads out over the years and I really do like his current set up. I would honestly enjoy any demos he can find the time to do. Comparing different speakers with same amp or different amps with the same speaker seems sensible to me but I don’t mind what E does . Just hope he doesn’t get too disenchanted . Time will tell.
@@davidcarr2216 He just doesn't seem to be doing the A/B comparison demos these days, wich is alright with me, because it's not too hard to compare the sound from seperate demos even with a phone without multiple tabs, wich only requires 15 seconds of aural memory, even though DM doesn't think you can do it with accuracy. By the way, have you noticed he's erased every single comment he's left on the last 13 demo vids? I can only assume he's mad because I and others didn't feel as he did the recent demo with the R100s was corrupted. I asked him why the heck he did it, but he hasn't responded.
