The Dragon Ride (Dragon Devil) - slain!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 чер 2024
- 13 weeks after surgery for a torn meniscus, after deferring my Fred Whitton place until 2025, my first challenge back was the Dragon Devil. 296km, 4400m of climbing in the Brecon Beacons.
Was I capable?

Very nice Scott - great ride and super fast edit ! Fitness is looking good too 💪
It's getting there slowly Phil. I've put easy too much weight on - stress. Really need to sort that out, sharpish.
@@CycletheNation Progress encouraged progress - and with the fitness coming on stream and the KMs increasing the weight will follow. Hope the stress eases too 🤞
Was a fantastic ride, the staff, feed stops and route were all absolutely brilliant.
I shouted nice paint to you just before the staircase 😂
Good work Scott. The route we done is the best I’ve ever done. The food stops the organisation was spot on. I’ve done the Fred and this was so much better. The descending is not dangerous and the climbs are gradual. Will do doing it again 100%
Well done Scott - Smashed it!! I saw you whoosh past me about 15km in! You were so fast!! My time for the devil was 13:11 so well done mate!
Woo 16:04 that's me!! I thought I recognised that bike and I had to watch the video just incase I could see me 😂😂
Congratulations dude!
nice left-hander after the Audi let you past. Great effort well done
you answerd it at the end. very interested but just dont have the duration or distnce experience yet. amazing views and glad weather seemed to dry up
Great vid, well done 👍
very jealous . great ride
Thats me at 3:42! Was a great starting group, that fist 65km went so quick!!
Great job, was a super tough day 😁
Cheers for the help! We were moving!
@CycletheNation Was following the crowd glad for the tow haha, the group broke up on the climb, fun while it lasted though!
Congratulations Scott dragon now slain hope you enjoyed it as much as I did
Onwards & upwards to the next one 💪😉👍🏼
Congrats mate for completing this Epic beast. You've made me want to give this ago next year
I was supposed to do the Devil in 2020, but we all know what happened that year. By the time 2021 rolled around I wasn't feeling up to it. Still there, nagging at the back of my mind. I've done the Fred twice, and the Dragon Ride looks like a nice alternative. Bit more of a trek to get to the start from Lancaster though 😂😂
Yeah, it's a bit further, took me 5.5 hours to get back, I'm 20 minutes north of you!
Would recommend it though...
some amazing sections of road, like home :-) how does it compare to The Fred?
Great ride Scott, well done 👍But don't you find these ostentatious 'look at me here I am' freewheels so annoying!!! And for all the wattage obsessives it must be self-defeating because simple physics dictates that it takes more energy (so in this case friction i.e. drag) to generate a loud noise than a quiet one...............
Cheers. ☺️
Honestly, I think your opinions on why people have loud freewheels is misplaced. I don't know anyone that gets one to show off, they just have the one that comes with the bike / wheelset. The noise / wattage doesn't make any difference either really, as nobody is bothered about losing 0.1w, especially as when the freewheel is making the noise, the rider isn't pedalling anyway. Plus, I like a loud one, it's as good as a bell for me.
@@CycletheNationat the Fred I used disc brake squeals and loud freewheels to indicate if riders ahead of me were hesitating or dealing with a hazard. It worked well
