Hahaha u so didn’t disappoint! And it must be noted: u are the ONLY reactor to figure out Lupin was Mooney & helped to create the Marauders Map! Well done👏! (Padfoot: Sirius, Wormtail: Peter, Prongs: James)
2:05 it's not outright said in the movies, but wizards can sometimes do magic unintentionally in moments of stress or strong emotions. remember when Harry disappeared the boa constrictor's cage's glass temporarily in HP1 because he was angry and Dudley was trapped inside? the same here, Marge was insulting his family so he accidentally turned her into a human balloon. magic is volatile, especially in teenage wizards, that's why they can't do magic outside of school... but then there's puberty and all that so it's basically an accident waiting to happen lol
I always liked the Minister for Magic explaining it that to Harry that he was not in trouble or else everyone would be in Azkaban for blowing up a relative. lol
Madame Rosmerta was played by the actress Julie Christie. She was very famous back in the 60s, an Oscar winner (Best Actress 1965), starred in Dr Zhivago with Omar Sharif as well. Nice little cameo role.
I feel extra bad Chandra said it's her favorite character, because, I'd prefer to think those books are more like artificially mimicking bestial behavior but have no real thoughts or urges. Griffons and hippogriffs are pretty similar creatures, so griffon was a good guess! If I remember my lore correctly, hippogriffs are front-end eagle and back-end horse, and griffons are part lion and part eagle.
My favorite things about Prisoner Of Azkaban: 1. The Dementor attack on the Hogwarts Express. (Perfect dose of horror and suspense). 2.The song "Double Trouble". (Which is a nod to the witches from the Shakespearean play Macbeth) 3. Hermione punching Malfoy right in his smug face. 4. The introduction of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and David Thewlis as Remus Lupin. 5. Harry flying on Buckbeak's back over Hogwarts (SPECTACULAR scenery). 6. Harry learning to use The Patronus Charm from Professor Lupin. 7. Harry fully using The Patronus Charm to save Sirius and himself at the edge of the Black Lake. 8. Lupin being the only *_COMPETENT_* Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher. 9. Fred & George gifting Harry with the Marauders Map.
So, mooney wormtail padfoot and prongs are the makers of the marauders map, professor lupin (mooney) peter pettigrew (wormtail) serius black (padfoot) and james potter (prongs)
Did they just not explain that in the movie whereas the internal monologue did in the book? Nice job Chandra drawing that connection even if the film didn't confirm it I guess.
It’s explained in the book but not made very clear in the movie. The book also discusses how the Weasley twins came to have possession of it. There are several things in the books that are glossed over or left out completely in the movies. Some are side stories but sometimes they are important facts.
Fun little detail - as Marge is tearing in to Lilly, Pentunia becomes more and more uncomfortable. Petunia doesn't give James' memory much mind. But she isn't thrilled to hear her sister's memory being attacked.
Did you notice a different actor took over the role of Dumbledore in this film? Richard Harris, sadly, passed away after the second film, and Michael Gambon began to play Dumbledore for this movie. Some people initially disliked the new actor's portrayal but warmed up to him as the movies progressed; he is noticeably younger, with a stronger voice and a bit of mischief in his manner, but he does a great job of staying true to the character we were used to while adding his own flourishes and quirks. This movie is the one where the themes and events begin to turn a bit darker as the kids mature. Now you know why many people love this movie the most of the first three at least because the plot was more complex, the stakes were higher, and the details really mattered.
@@Billinois78 Yeah that one and there's also a moment where he rants at an entire courtyard of students "DON'T YOU ALL HAVE STUDYING TO DO" because he's stressed out. Now obviously that line is a whole new manufactured line by a clumsy screenwriter trying to indicate "folks are on edge at Hogwarts" without a god damn thought as to characterization, not necessarily Gambon's fault. But regardless of which real human takes the blame, I definitely can't say I like the Gambon version of Dumbledore. And it doesn't lend him a lot of benefit of the doubt that Gambon is on record as not knowing the books.
One thing most of us didn't notice at first because the movies were about a year or so apart, was that the opening title and Warner Bros shield was bright gold in the first movie but in every subsequent movie gets darker and darker in color.
McGonnagall didn't just gift Hermione a time traveling device, fortunately. She had to fill out some massive NDA with the Ministry to get it on loan for the year so she could take literally every single class offered. Kinda like a scholarship thing, she did so well the previous years she got permission to ask for a Time Turner.
The film is great, but come on, the whole time travel and time turner stuff is total BS! If you have time travel in a story, it has to have extreme donwsides or you will have huge worldbuilding problems. Being unreliable, needing a lot of resources, or requiring immense skill to use. In Harry Potter time travel has nothing of that and they give it to a 12-year-old who has been broken laws and school rules again and again to take additional classes. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? With time travel in a story you either go all in and focus on the execution, or you leave it out. As always, Rowling wanted to have it because she thought it was cool and spent not even one second to think about the implications and consequences.
@@Sobsilus Except for the fact that everything done with a time turner has already happened, you can't change time with that specific device. There may be other forms of time travel in the wizarding world but we never find that out. If anything were to go wrong there is a very good chance that Hermione would have been taken to Azkaban, is that not enough of a consequence? On top of that bashing someone else's created universe seems a bit bizarre, it's her world and she can do whatever she wants with it. You don't have to agree with it of course but you also have no say in how it's done there.
@ Wow, you‘re right. How silly of me to reflect on the media I consume and think about it and challenge it. If I‘m not careful I could end up… you know, learn something or - God forbid - even develop a sense of quality by comparing different works. Oh, what a gruesome thought. Down with critical thinking! Seriously, if you only care about the mere plot of a book or film, just read the Wikipedia summary. Saves you a lot of time. Or write down some tropes on a piece of paper, read them, and then let your imagination do the rest. Two people can have totally different views on and interpretations of the same piece, and not having either is also fine. But making fun of people for analyzing media is so cheap and shallow. After all, reaction videos are analyses too. Or at least the better ones are, like on this channel.
Hypocrisy much Sobsilus? You consider having the right to an opinion on anything, but the author cannot have their own universe built the way she wanted? If you would have stopped after commenting on consequences, or on Hermione deserving to get one, I would not have commented.
@@DanielaDormiaru-ih9xf How is that a contradiction? I don’t tell you to stop watching the films and I don‘t want to sue Rowling or the publishers to change the story or whatever. 😂 And it seems you didn’t even understand the original critique, so maybe start there. I said that Rowling didn‘t consider the implications and consequences of time travel, what it does to the universe of the story. Nothing to do with Hermione going to Azkaban for abusing her time turner. If you have time travel, you always have to give a solution why it is never used before and after, only in this one situation. Is this all really going over your head? Is the concept of media analysis that unfamiliar to you? I‘m seriously asking, because I can‘t tell with you.
When the map said, 'Messieurs Moonie, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs', it was referring to Lupin (Mooney), Pettigrew (Wormtail), Sirius (Padfoot), and James (Prongs) due to their 1. werewolf form, 2. animagic form, 3. animagic form, and 4. Patronus form.
In the book it is explained that Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail, and Prongs were(in order) Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigre, and James Potter. Also, there are eight movies, book seven is divided into 2.
The nasty aunt from the beginning was played by the wonderful Pam Ferris (who was excellent in the cosy mystery series "Rosemary & Thyme"). She's one of those character actors who most often plays characters you like, but can also play someone downright nasty like here. I watched every episode of Rosemary & Thyme and actually didn't recognize her when I first watched this movie. 👏😄
The shrieking shack scene is genius! Kudos to whoever staged it, directed it, whatever - it was powerful, confusing, fast-paced, brilliant! My favorite scene for reactions too!😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yay! So happy these are back on the channel. I saw the first one soon after it came out and didn't care much for it at the time but then I caught this one in the middle of the movie one day and really enjoyed it. Then a few years later the first part of 7 was coming out so I went back and watched them all and really fell in love with the series. I have a 2 hr drive to work that I make twice each week and I listen to the audiobooks on the drive. I'm almost done with the 7th book for this round of listening to them again. Then I'll take a break and listen to other audio books then come back and restart the series towards the end of the year. That part about him using his wand at the beginning always bothered me to. It's not consistent with the rules of using magic outside of school.
The creators behind the map "moony, wormtail, padfoot, and prongs" Are the following Moony = professor Lupin. Padfoot = Serious black (reference to a dog paw) wormtail = Peter Pettigrew. Prongs = James Potter (prongs like the antlers of a stag) They were all nick named for two reasons. 1. by their patronus, and 2. because of what they turn into when they morph into animals aka an animagus. It all fits together. Also serious and James where classic trouble makers which makes sense on why they created the marauders map.
I don't know if anyone has said anything yet but you were right. Moonie is Lupin, Padfoot is Black (his animagus is a black dog), Prongs was Harry's Dad (his patronus like Harry's was a Buck) and Wormtail is Pettigrew. They made the map.
It doesnt say in the movies anywhere but the Marauders Map was made by Harrys Dad(Prongs), Sirius Black(Padfoot), Lupin (Mooney) and peter pettigrew (wormtail) and thier names were based on what animal they turned into, Stag, Dog, Werewolf, and Rat... that was a great call of yours to guess about Lupin
There are 7 books but the final book is split into two films because there is so much happening in the final book. As you have pointed out, the books and films continue to get darker as the characters get older. They are no longer little kids are facing more and more danger.
The Shrieking Shack was a place James, Lupin, Sirius, and Peter went to because of Lupin’s condition. This is also why James, Sirius, and Pettigrew all became unregistered Animaguses so they could control Lupin when he became a werewolf. James became a stag (male deer) when he transformed and his Patronus was a stag and so was Harry’s.
I swear-I saw ur post and involuntarily squealed😂. Yaaaay! I’m absolutely loving ur Potter reactions. Can’t wait to see u dig the bejesus outta Prisoner of Azkaban
"I thought you need a wand for magic." "Why doesn't Harry go live with the Weasleys?" "How did the Knight Bus show up at just the right time?" It's funny being reminded of all the things the movies didn't explain, but the books did. 😂
There's something really eerie about the "travel back in time, but you MUST ENSURE IT FORMS A CLOSED LOOP OR BAD THINGS HAPPEN" concept, that was captured really well in the book and reasonably well here. Watching events unfold the same way from a new perspective, it's all very clever :) OTOH I thought the shrieking shack confrontation was weird - in the book, did Snape show up even before they'd gotten the whole story from Lupin and Sirius? I didn't remember the kids just blasting Snape without even being convinced Lupin & Sirius weren't bad guys yet haha - I thought he showed up right after.
Why Snape knew there was a flashmob in the Shrieking Shack? Snape brew the very complicated Wolfbane potion on Dumbledores request every month and when he were to deliver it to Lupin he wasn't there. Lupin had seen Harry and his friends inside the Shrieking Shack- with Sirius Black. So he dashed off, leaving the map on his desk unviped for Snape to see. And Lupin didn't get his potion...
I remember when this came out there was some street marketing, probably focused around bookstores because I ran into them in front of one, where they were handing out Sirius Black wanted posters with grim faced Gary Oldman holding his Azkaban prison number :) Fun idea, I wish I still had it.
You're definitely onto it right there at the end, this is why you have to read the books, because the movies leave out so much, but yes Lupin, James, serious and Peter where the makers of the Mars map they are the marauders, I thought you'd get it with Wormtail cause Peter he's a rat and then Lupin is Mooney because of the moon then Pad foot because serious as a dog and prongs was James because he could turn into a stag which is also Harry's Petronas. Cause remember the difference between an anus and a werewolf is there an Animais is a person who can turn into an animal like professor McGonagle how she can turn into the cat, well Serious James and Peter were unregistered and guess which means that they didn't register which means nobody knows that they're anus and they learn how to do it while in school which is actually very impressive because it's really hard thing to do but your personality a little bit as well as like your Petronas and kind of who you as a person essentially makes who you will turn into in your anus form, that's why Siri is a dog why Peter is a rat because he's a literal rat and why James was a stag because his Petronas was a stag just like Harry's and I guess he was like a fierce protector and I don't really know what the meaning of the stagger is but you can't choose what you'll turn into it's just kind of based on who you are as a person and the reason that serious is a dog is because he's incredibly loyal so that's where they got their names for the map from and it would've been so easy for this movie to make that known just simply by the three friends referring to themselves by their names like you have to get it because Lupin knows about the map and stuff like that his is pretty obvious because he's a werewolf, but I just wish they'd put in like a few more lines where they referred to each other by their names like in later films they do we are Snipe Coles Peter Wormtail, which is a bit weird cause Snape didn't know about their anime forms, so he really shouldn't know that but they put it in in later films and also Harry refers to serious as pad for a lot in the later films as well, so like I said it would've been really easy for them to put it in this film to just like have them slip it in when talking to each other, they could've been like a Wormtail you sold James and Lily to Voldemort rather than saying like a Peter or I don't know but I feel like Wormtail could've been easily swapped out for Peter in a lot of lines same with Lupin and Mooney like those would've been really easy things to kinda just toss and I guess they wanted to make it a little bit harder for people to pick it up but it would've made for a much better reveal and it would've made more sense for the leader films so I don't really know why they didn't just add those lines of dialogue in or add like a little bit of backstory like just showed them making the map or showed just their time at school like just referencing calling each other by their names or I don't know you don't have to make it massively obvious but I feel like this movie just wasn't really good at explaining it and nobody really picks up on it you were a bit better cause you're able to somehow pick up on it when other people can't but it can be quite tricky for people to figure it out and I think it just would've been so easy for them to just put in a few lines of dialogue that didn't take away from the story or reveal anything too much like I think there could've been an easier way to do it without ruining anything just with the way that they worded it like sneaking in the names or something like that, also it's important to know that in the books it was Lupin who saw Peter on the map and that is because it's while it's not outright sit in the books it is in the subtext and just the description of that scene Lupin being the one to see Peter on the map it's because only the marauders could see each other on the map which means that Harry shouldn't have been able to see him at all that's a movie mistake some people chucked up to oh well Harry's related to James so maybe that's why he can see him on the map when Fred and George couldn't, which is a pretty big mistake in the films, so a lot of people just explain it away with saying Harry must be able to because he's related to James but the real reason is because the people who made this film messed up a little bit and didn't think about it I guess, and it just bit confusing I guess they wanted it to be Harry but it doesn't work if it's Harry cause that's the whole point is that only the murders could see each other so I don't know I just find that to be a bit odd there are a lot of things like that in these films where they'll just use random spells like Expelliarmus is supposed to disarm someone i.e. your one flies out of your hand like when Harry knocks back Snipe that's not supposed to happen he's supposed to use a different spell for that like Rick Siempre which we saw Draco use in the second film or something like that they like knocks you backwards, so it's just a bit annoying with that kind of thing. Also I'd like to apologise for any spelling mistakes of people's names or of magical words etc, I'm visually impaired and have to use speech to text which means that it takes what I say and write it out and if I don't know how to spell it then it doesn't really know what I mean and sometimes I misunderstand what I say and just write what it thinks that here Isso I apologise for any spelling mistakes, sometimes I try to edit it but because of my visual impairment it's quite hard to read back what I've written as the font is quite small on UA-cam so I like to put these either at the beginning or the end of my comment just so people know why my comment might have spelling errors etc.
Wands are a conduit for a Witch or Wizards magic, without wands magic is uncontrolled unless you have great will power. When Harry casts wandless magic, like on Dudley at the zoo, or on his aunt it is wild and he has no iidea what he's doing
its always so ironic how Harry could not go to Hogsmeade because he had no permission form from his family. But there is no problem at all living in a castle where constantly students vanish, die, tortured or follow a dark lord.
If you want some extra homework theres a fan fiction called "the muraders plan" on utube, that starts at the end of this movie. Its not cannon but is a great alternate universe story
This film might not be the most faithful adaption of the series, but goddamn it’s the best film in matters of craft. There is a reason why Alfonso Cuaron, the director for this one, received two Oscars by now. The director of Philosopher‘s Stone and Chamber of Secrets wrote „Gremlins“ and directed „Home Alone“ and „Home Alone 2“. And that is how the first Harry Potter films feel. They perfectly portray the shallow power fantasy that the books provide. But this film here is different and Cuaron did a fine job. The use of nature to show the changing seasons and the constant shots of the clock tower beautifully play into the theme of time that is essential for this one. I hate the time travel plot, it’s cheap and lazy, but the film does a great job of visually incorporating this central theme. And the highly dynamic camera that constantly switches between wide angles and close-up is just _Chef‘s Kiss_. And that is not even touching on musical gems like „Window to the Past“ or „Double Trouble“ or the fact that Cuaron let the cast choose their own outfits for scenes where they not wear the school uniform. There is a deleted scene after the attack on the Fat Lady where all Gryffindors including McGonagall are gathered in the common room in nightgowns and pyjamas. It‘s just so much more personal and creative.
Lupin, from the Latin lupus meaning wolf, and Mooney as a nickname because the full moon triggers the transition from manform to wolfform in a werewolf. Words have meaning in well written works.
It's my favorite of the franchise, and goes well around Halloween time. The element of the macabre is so present in HP3, and I enjoy that tremendously. Plus, I love the score, especially during that exhilarating scene where Harry rides on Buckbeat and gets a taste of flying. Seeing that in the theater was a rush. Sometimes it's good when a new director comes on board an established series and takes things in a slightly different direction. Totally worked for this movie. Alfonso Cuarón did a great job.
You will love the books, Chandra! And they will explain to you why Harry lives with his aunt and uncle, and why he can't (sadly!) live with the Weasleys.
"If there's something wrong with the b****, then there's something wrong with the pup." 🤔 There's about a hundred jokes I could make about Marge's and Ripper's personalities, but I dont have the time. 😂
"I expect you're tired of hearing this, but you look so like your father. Except your eyes. You have..." "My mother's eyes." "It's cruel that I got to spend so much time with James and Lily, and you so little. But know this; the ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them in here." Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Genevieve Gaunt. Slytherin Shenanigans Fact: The only book or film in the series where Voldemort doesn't appear in some form. Location Location Fact: This was the first movie in the franchise to extensively utilize real-life locations, as much of the first two movies had been shot in the studio. Getting To Know You Fact: In order to acquaint himself with his three lead actors and actresses, director Alfonso Cuarón had each of them write an essay about their characters, from a first-person point of view. Emma Watson, in true Hermione fashion, went a little overboard and wrote a sixteen-page essay. Daniel Radcliffe, like Harry, wrote a simple one-page summary, and Rupert Grint, like Ron, never even turned his in. Casting Notes Fact: The "Daily Prophet" photograph of the Weasley family in Egypt featured all nine members: parents Molly and Arthur (Julie Walters and Mark Williams), and credited offspring Ginny (Bonnie Wright), Ron (Rupert Grint), twins Fred and George (James Phelps and Oliver Phelps), and Percy (Chris Rankin). The two eldest Weasleys, Charlie (Richard Fish) and Bill (Alex Crockford, who was replaced by Domhnall Gleeson for the two "Deathly Hallows" movies) were uncredited.
I never understood why JKR didn't insist on introducing Bill as early as Goblet of Fire, as they needed him later for the story. Charlie, I understand but not Bill. For the movies writers it makes sense, as the last 3 books were not released yet, I think.
Dumbledore knew about the condition of Lupin already when he was a student at Hogwarts. It is Dumbledore who gave the order to construct a place where Lupin could hide during the full moon periods and also got the secret passage under the Whomping Willow dug for Remus to get unseen to that hut. People in the area heard these howls and screams coming from that place and believed it was haunted .... calling it the Shrieking Shack. Since James, Peter, Sirius and Remus were best friends the three decided to become animagus so they could spent time with Remus as animals when he was in wolf form. James became a stag (prongs), Sirius is a dog (padfoot), Peter obviously a rat (wormtail). Remus' nick became mooney. They created the Marauder's map. Snape was also of their year and class, but they constantly bullied him, hence the remark about his "enormous nose".
If you keep watching the end credits, about halfway through them you'll see two sets of footprints in a tower in the bottom left of the screen, that are clearly doing... well lets call it hankius pankius!
This movie was by far the most Sirius of the first three, distantly followed by the first one. 😉 I can't be specific due to spoilers, but she said something during the Quidditch match that damn near broke my heart.
If you want to see Gary Oldman (Sirius) really playing "ruthless and evil," catch his performance in Leon, The Professional. Spine tingling performance.
I remember having seen Marauder's Map for sale at bookstores once upon a time. I sure wanted one badly, but it was not meant to be. I was always curious how it could work, since Hogwarts seems to be quite variable in its layout
5:10 One problem I have with the Harry Potter movies as they go on is that the whimsy of the magical world is more and more downplayed as they get more serious. The first magical beasts movie brought it back but fell into the same patterns.
The greatest question came from this movie. How did Fred and George never notice that their brother was sleeping with some dude named Peter Pettigrew on the map?
"Wait, what's driving the carriages?". Seriously? The shrinking bus, floating aunt, singing frogs, floating candles are all appropriate, but driverless carriages is where you draw the line? 🤣
Good catch on “Moony” on the Marauder’s Map. Lupin DID help make it, along with Harry’s dad and his gang of friends when they were at Hogwarts. This was revealed in the book but cut from the movie, much to my annoyance.
You have forgotten the first movie. A which or Wizard when young can do magic without meaning to when they get angry or scared remember Hagrid explained to Harry when he told him he was a wizard. Then at the zoo when he made the glass disappear and then reappear after Duddly pushed him over.
The map is one of those too useful to work items. Four students at Hogwarts erte able to create a map showing everyone walking around ot. Such maps would be incredibly helpful for all situations both within and without the school, yet no-one else makes one despite it being easy enough for those four students.
Excellent reaction, the movies do get more serious and darker the farther you go. As good as the movies are, the books are 10 times better. This is my favorite book and movie of the series, but all of them are really great. There are twists and turns coming that give you the thrill of a roller coaster.
The carriages, semi spoiler but no info, you will learn about them on the 5th movie. This is more of a note to remember what you saw here and compare in movie 5. 12:50 go pick up the Monster Manual for Dungeons and Dragons. I know they are in the books since the 90s. A lot of the magical / mythical creatures are listed in many RPG fantasy game tomes. 19:30 you will learn more about the shrieking shack and its history of why it is called that way in the books. 23:35 he knows about the map because you learn more from the books that he was involved.in its creation. That is why his nickname is on it. Moony, because of his affliction of lycanthropy and its relationship with the moon. 7 books while the last book is split into 2 movies. This is darker and be prepared that every movie continues to get darker each subsequent movie. As the kids mature, so does the content.
Awesome reaction video can’t wait for you to watch the rest would love too see you react to the 20th anniversary return to hogwarts and also do the sorting hat to find which house you’re in 😘
You should absolutely read the books when you get time. You know the feeling you get of being transported to that magical world? Wanting to get that letter from Hogwarts? It's multiplied times 10 in the books. My best childhood memories involve those books. Glad your back watching the movies. Prisoner of Azkaban marks a change in the film saga. New director. New Dumbledore. Ok I'll shut up now.
Keep it up. 7 books 8 movies (the last book is split in 2). There is also, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and it's sequels but your mileage may vary.
The rest of the movies do get darker. This movie and book are my favorite. Gary Oldman that plays Serious Black is one of my favorite actors. I worked at a movie theater as a teenager and when Harry Potter came out to the theaters I was like what is this movie and why are these kids dressed up as Harry Potter. I was like this movie looks so stupid. A guy I worked with asked me if i wanted to watch it with him. I was bored and said sure I’ll see it with you. After I seen the movie I loved it. I bought the books before the movies came out. I wanted to know what happens. The books give more detail than the movies but the movies are close to the books. J.K. Rowling thought of this on trains in London going to her job. She wrote notes on the train. She wrote the book eventually of her idea. Steven Spielberg was an idea of directing the movie. J.K. Rowling but when meeting him he wanted to change the story and characters around. She didn’t let him direct. She wanted it off her books.
Hahaha u so didn’t disappoint! And it must be noted: u are the ONLY reactor to figure out Lupin was Mooney & helped to create the Marauders Map! Well done👏! (Padfoot: Sirius, Wormtail: Peter, Prongs: James)
Came to say the same thing!! I was so impressed by this haha
Yes, the only one that noticed
Dumbledore in this movie is the literal definition of "Plausible Deniability"
2:05 it's not outright said in the movies, but wizards can sometimes do magic unintentionally in moments of stress or strong emotions. remember when Harry disappeared the boa constrictor's cage's glass temporarily in HP1 because he was angry and Dudley was trapped inside? the same here, Marge was insulting his family so he accidentally turned her into a human balloon.

Aha! Thank you for explaining that, I was wondering how it worked!
Iirc Hagrid says something to that effect in the first movie, when Harry is denying that he’s a wizard.
hey I’m Ryan I have a movie request the movie anaconda and if you can please wear long wedding gloves for the movie
I always liked the Minister for Magic explaining it that to Harry that he was not in trouble or else everyone would be in Azkaban for blowing up a relative. lol

Yeah I don't think that occurred to me at all reading the books (until later of course). Cool how maybe the visual medium makes you question it more.
@@jerodast I think it is said in the books before the fifth for foreshadowing. I remember thinking it's clever.
I remember this but It seemed surprisingly normal of a thing for a magic carriage to do
good thing to notice for the 5 movie

@jerodast no not explained in the movies
It’s explained in the book but not made very clear in the movie. The book also discusses how the Weasley twins came to have possession of it.
There are several things in the books that are glossed over or left out completely in the movies. Some are side stories but sometimes they are important facts.
@@jerodastI was going to say the same thing. I think she’s the only reactor I’ve seen that made any connection with the map.
Hmm, so not Mad Eye Mooney?
yes, i was waiting for this! probably the best directed HP movie of them all.
Except for the last shot 😅. That freeze frame is so odd. It doesn’t ruin the movie though.
@@jip5889 yeah, it's kinda funny xd imo the movie is certainly not flawless, but there's just so much good already that you can just ignore some stuff
@jip5889 I’ve also always thought it was a little odd
Fun little detail - as Marge is tearing in to Lilly, Pentunia becomes more and more uncomfortable. Petunia doesn't give James' memory much mind. But she isn't thrilled to hear her sister's memory being attacked.
I love that you noticed the knight in the paintings. 😊 He was a quirky little side character in the books which I loved.
Me too! ⚔ Sir Cadogan!
(Dumbledore asked calmly)
@@Billinois78
That was the director's choice, not the actor's.
@ We will never know if the director would have made that same choice with Richard Harris.
And it seems you didn’t even understand the original critique, so maybe start there.
This is the first time I saw someone see The Monster Book of Monsters and call it cute!! This is great!! Lol!! XD
Chandra is definitely a Hufflepuff, has some Newt in her xd
When the map said, 'Messieurs Moonie, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs', it was referring to Lupin (Mooney), Pettigrew (Wormtail), Sirius (Padfoot), and James (Prongs) due to their 1. werewolf form, 2. animagic form, 3. animagic form, and 4. Patronus form.
James was also an animagus that turned into a stag.
Also they became animagi illegally when they found out lupin was a werewolf to keep him company
@@LordNightkind I had forgotten that part. Thanks!
In the book it is explained that Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail, and Prongs were(in order) Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigre, and James Potter. Also, there are eight movies, book seven is divided into 2.
One of the perks of reading the books, is you'll learn why and/or how unexplained events happen in the movie, such as Sirius getting into Hogwarts.
17:40 Amos, somewhere: THAT'S MY BOY
This is my favorite of the series. The director was new and made some really cool choices that help bring a much darker tone to the film.
I already play that game I can’t wait for the second game too come out
Alfonso Cuarón ❤
The nasty aunt from the beginning was played by the wonderful Pam Ferris (who was excellent in the cosy mystery series "Rosemary & Thyme"). She's one of those character actors who most often plays characters you like, but can also play someone downright nasty like here. I watched every episode of Rosemary & Thyme and actually didn't recognize her when I first watched this movie. 👏😄
Some of Rosemary & Thyme might be on UA-cam . I used to be on Netflix.
She also played the horrible Mrs. Trunchbull in Matilda.
Ron's prediction in Divination class wasn't entirely wrong either. Harry did suffer, but in the end was happy about it... ^^
The shrieking shack scene is genius! Kudos to whoever staged it, directed it, whatever - it was powerful, confusing, fast-paced, brilliant! My favorite scene for reactions too!😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much for continuing with HP! I love your reactions to these movies. It's like watching them for the first time.
I see some people are let you know about the Marauders map but I've got to give you credit for figuring out 1 of the authors, Mooney.
The entire dialogue in The Shreaking Shack has a completely different context on a second watch. 😯😯😯
I don't know if anyone has said anything yet but you were right. Moonie is Lupin, Padfoot is Black (his animagus is a black dog), Prongs was Harry's Dad (his patronus like Harry's was a Buck) and Wormtail is Pettigrew. They made the map.
Watch every winter?
😂😂😂if these are on regular tv my husband has them on, seems it’s HP or Lord of the rings at our house
Another great reaction Shandra! I will say this and the next one is to me the best of the franchise. Can't wait for more! 😊👍🏻
Hey, nice! I've been waiting for this! My favourite HP film! :)
There are 7 books but the final book is split into two films because there is so much happening in the final book.
As you have pointed out, the books and films continue to get darker as the characters get older. They are no longer little kids are facing more and more danger.
Thank you! Love your Harry Potter reactions!
Ron: "it's not funny!!"
Chandra: " 😏 pretty funny... "
😂😂😂
There's something really eerie about the "travel back in time, but you MUST ENSURE IT FORMS A CLOSED LOOP OR BAD THINGS HAPPEN" concept, that was captured really well in the book and reasonably well here. Watching events unfold the same way from a new perspective, it's all very clever :)
OTOH I thought the shrieking shack confrontation was weird - in the book, did Snape show up even before they'd gotten the whole story from Lupin and Sirius? I didn't remember the kids just blasting Snape without even being convinced Lupin & Sirius weren't bad guys yet haha - I thought he showed up right after.
its never said in the movies, but Harry going back to the Dursleys every summer does makes he is safe simply put :D
The fun of watching these movies is made even more fun by your reactions:) stay magical
You are so cute loving the book haha. My sibling has him as a couch cushion. Lol
Wands are a conduit for a Witch or Wizards magic, without wands magic is uncontrolled unless you have great will power. When Harry casts wandless magic, like on Dudley at the zoo, or on his aunt it is wild and he has no iidea what he's doing
Yes! Been waiting for this one.
its always so ironic how Harry could not go to Hogsmeade because he had no permission form from his family.
Happy New Year Chandra🎉🎉
You will love the books, Chandra! And they will explain to you why Harry lives with his aunt and uncle, and why he can't (sadly!) live with the Weasleys.
This might be my favorite of the films! 💙. she should do a video taking the quizzes to find out what her house, wand, and Petronas are!
"If there's something wrong with the b****, then there's something wrong with the pup."
🤔 There's about a hundred jokes I could make about Marge's and Ripper's personalities, but I dont have the time. 😂
"I expect you're tired of hearing this, but you look so like your father. Except your eyes. You have..."
"My mother's eyes."
"It's cruel that I got to spend so much time with James and Lily, and you so little. But know this; the ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them in here."
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Genevieve Gaunt.
The book goes into who made The Map and it ties in brilliantly to the story ♥️🤟😎♥️
Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs. Indeed.
Definitely me and my brothers favorite movie series of all time. I love the books.
Absolutely Amazing Reaction. 👏 🙌🤝😎
If you keep watching the end credits, about halfway through them you'll see two sets of footprints in a tower in the bottom left of the screen, that are clearly doing... well lets call it hankius pankius!
Great reaction Chandra!
Best movie in the series.
This movie was by far the most Sirius of the first three, distantly followed by the first one. 😉
I can't be specific due to spoilers, but she said something during the Quidditch match that damn near broke my heart.
If you want to see Gary Oldman (Sirius) really playing "ruthless and evil," catch his performance in Leon, The Professional. Spine tingling performance.
Puttin' the pieces together...authors of the map.
The next installment is where things get really interesting, and the stakes are much higher.
13:20 perfect reaction!
i was waiting for this.
I love that Snape's first instinct when seeing Lupin as a werewolf is to protect the kids. 💜
Which is, unfortunately, a change the movies made to make Snape less of a jerk than he actually is. In the books, Snape was unconscious.
@14akamaru yes, I know. I read them as they came out....but it doesn't change my love for it in the movie.
The hippogriff is Buckbeak.
There are twists and turns coming that give you the thrill of a roller coaster.
i gotta admit, i wish Jordan was here too
The carriages, semi spoiler but no info, you will learn about them on the 5th movie.
This one is my favorite HP movie but the next one (Goblet of Fire) is my favorite HP book.
You should do book reviews when you start reading the books!
Whilst this is my favourite Potter film, Gary Oldman's complete switch in acting styles before and after the big reveal is a bit of a stretch.
Awesome reaction video can’t wait for you to watch the rest would love too see you react to the 20th anniversary return to hogwarts and also do the sorting hat to find which house you’re in 😘
This is the best of the lot.
I'm going to count to 394. HAAANS!!!
This is the best movie imo. It’s also my favorite book.
I’d have Deathly Hallows part 1 as the next best movie.
After you watch all the movies you need to visit the wizard if world of Harry Potter at universal studios in Orlando fl.
Keep it up.
7 books 8 movies (the last book is split in 2). There is also, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and it's sequels but your mileage may vary.
kinda hard to watch the movie when there is an adorable girl sitting right in front of me watching her own Reaction
