EXCELLENT explanation of IP Ingress Protection ratings of IEC Standard IEC60529 and ANSI/NEMA Standard ANSI/NEMA60529 [U.S. adoption and national differences], Dr Rachel!!! (I served as Chair for a decade of the NEMA* Technical Committee and of the U.S. National Committee [USNC] Technical Advisory Group [TAG] responsible for those standards.)
FWIW, it is highly unlikely that there will ever be a hearing aid rated IP#9 (e.g., IP69k) b/c the “9” second digit refers to a high-pressure washdown jet spray that the surrounding ear and head would be incapable of withstanding.
BTW, IP ratings are not solely for electronics but applicable to ANY sort of electrical, automotive, medical, food-processing, etc., equipment.

Thank you so much! I agree - I think IP69 is very unlikely to ever happen... but a girl can dream!

This is really useful (though very unglamorous) information. Thank you.

I bought the Mack ear dryer after I saw you recommend it in a previous you tube you had given. I use it every time I feel there may be moisture in my ears and after every shower just to be sure there isn’t any water still in my ear. It’s a great product and I have you to thank for mentioning it as I didn’t even know something like it was available.. thank you

Excellent information! My Bose soundcontrol hearing aids (IP57) were rendered useless just from sweat alone. Had never considered a dryer/Dehydrate device. Will be something to invest in for my next set. Those will be IP68.

Thank you for the reminder about the effects of water on all electronics. I don’t think that people realize that even in case of a fire, there is greater water damages to property than actual damage from a fire. I have a shoebox of leftover silica packets to remove moisture from my phone. I. am so surprised that I haven’t managed to lose my left hearing aid yet. I have not yet figured out the proper order of wearing and maintenance but I’m hoping with time i will figure it out.

Regarding your shoebox of leftover silica packets: you probably know that they don't last forever and eventually get saturated with moisture, right? (You can Google how to dry them out to renew them.)

I totally agree with Dr. AuD Professional Audiologist hearing Aides Dealership and it costs me $100 to $1 thousands dollars to repair my hearing Aides and sometimes buying a new hearing Aides again for $2 thousands dollars for right side Over-The-Ears hearing Aides and left side of the Over-The-Ears hearing Aides and getting 2 new ears molds and plastic tubing to be replaced every 6 months or every year. Now I don't have to worry about it anymore since I have bought a new Phonaks Audeo Life Waterproof sweatproof rechargeable battery hearing Aides with wireless Bluetooth added and surround sound automatic and have a portable battery hearing Aides charger can be using the same charging ports as my cellphone computer charger mini USB ports and to home electric power and trucks and cars USB ports and my Emergency radio Solar power batteries am and fm weather alert and LED flashlight and input and output and speaker USB and audio and cranking handle to charge my hearing Aides while fishing and camping without any electric power station.

Thank you for the great information for new hearing Aides dryer and ears electronic dryers which I never had seen. I may go to my Professional Audiologist hearing Aides Dealership and buying a new hearing Aides dryer and ears electronic dryers or drying package. But I don't think those new hearing Aides water resistant slip-ons covers will work for my Phonaks Audeo Life Waterproof sweatproof hearing Aides. But it will help my old Phonaks Milo Plus regular hearing Aides Over-The-Ears hearing Aides since it requires 3 replaceable wind and water resistant microphone filters to each hearing Aides.

I purchased Omnia 7 rechargeable in Jan 2023 along with new iPhone 14 plus.
Had iPhone XR which did not support hands free calling due to which has to purchase 14 plus.
In the last two to three months, my hearing aids auto restart whenever an audio call or WhatsApp audio or video call is terminated. This has been a big headache.
HAs were sent to service Center to diagnose the issue but in vain. Issue symbol persists.
Can you please help me fix this issue? What should be done?

Oh wow - I haven't heard of this. Sounds like a glitch that may improve with upcoming iPhone software updates.

I assume my hearing aids that were soak in my bag from the hospital after surgery are probably dead from soaking over night! 😩
