The most amazing elevator I have ever seen.

(6-8-2017) This is my first tiller line elevator. It is located in Copenhagen Denmark. And what an amazing ride it was, even though I got busted, it went well. Sadly the other elevator you see can not be operated from inside. I brought it down, wish I had gotten it on video. CONNECT WITH ME!

I was on the elavtor yesterday comeing from 5th to thrid floor and the freight elavtor made a sound since it's apartment people just use it as normal elavtor

Sadly, newer versions of the ASME A17.3 existing elevator code (likely adopted, or partially adopted by a few states, and possibly will be adopted by more states in the future) appear to prohibit "shipper rope" or pull rope operated elevators. It is looking possible that sooner or later, it is very possible pull rope elevators will be extinct in the US.

Those elevators wouldn't stand a chance in the USA anymore than Kim Jong-Un would! Denmark and Europe have some of the best vintage elevators! I also love their hand-operated pedestrian drawbridges! That other elevator does not have the mesh enclosure. Oh so that's how you stop on a floor you want. I love how the doors are flush with the wall and there is not inner door. Your demonstration showing that it stops when you reach your hand across the sensor shows that it's safe. I realize nothing is 100% safe but oh how ironic that those calling themselves "the brave" are afraid of elevators like this, the paternoster and even glass elevators, in some cases.... That elevator gate gives everyone a workout, I see.

Its called a tiller rope. The rope usually has knobs mounted on it that catches and stops the elevator. Sometimes they have a switch called an angel switch that can be opened and closed to by pass the knob on the cable. Otis elevator made alot of these.

Wonder how well the hoist ropes hold up in the rain, even being steel with an inner rope core they can still corrode. Those types of traction elevators with 2:1 roping with a basement machine room appear pretty common.

This appears to be an electric elevator. Pulling the rope completes a circuit that powers the electric motor.
There is also such a thing as a hand powered/non electric elevator where you have to constantly pull the rope and the elevator is powered purely by muscle power/gravity.
