Odisha Records 63.85% Voter Turnout Till 6 PM, Nabarangpur Sees Highest Polling

  • In the first phase of polling for both Lok Sabha and state Assembly in Odisha, voter turnout reached an estimated 63.85% by 6 pm. This phase encompassed four Parliamentary constituencies - Berhampur, Koraput, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur - along with 28 Assembly segments under these seats across 8 districts.The Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Bhubaneswar reported the highest voter participation in the Nabarangpur Assembly seat, where 73.44% of eligible voters exercised their rights. Conversely, the Berhampur Assembly segment observed the lowest turnout, with only 47.90% of voters casting their votes. However, this data is approximate, with the possibility of revisions expected.Comparatively, the voter turnout in the first phase of the 2019 elections stood at 66%. Thunderstorms, Lightning and Heavy Rainfall Expected in Odisha Over Next 2 Days.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall from May 13 to 14 in Odisha. Thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds at speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected during this period.Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely on May 13, particularly in Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts, where a yellow warning has been issued. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may occur in several other districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Puri, Ganjam, and Koraput.Coastal and South Interior Odisha are expected to experience light to moderate rain, while some areas in the north may also see rainfall.
