I don't care what anyone says, i love this album. I love that it's so different than anything else they've done. but of course all the Too Cool For School Punks hate it because it's different, and has (GASP!) synthesizers in it,
I love it BECAUSE it's weird and different. A few days ago I gave this album a listen, at first I thought "my god wtf is this shit..." but it grew on me very quickly. Now I can't stop listening to it. To my ears it's very dark (in a good way) and strikes some nerve in me. Really helps get me through the graveyard shift that I'm currently stuck on.
i think this is the most punk thing any punk band has ever done - to flip a finger to the punk genre rules as well and out of nowhere pull an entirely different style of album and do it with the brilliance we have here. this is not just being different for being different and to copy everyone else who tries to be different as a stereotypical punk rocker does - this is actually fucking creative stuff - a completely unique album in the history of music id say. i only wish the band themselves could respect this masterpiece the same way.
This album has grown on me. And is now one of my favorite albums of all time lol...it is amazing how tastes can change as you grow older, and have different experiences that affect the things you love. I am happy to hear them play these songs again Live, and hope they do a repress of this album. Or even better, I find a copy of a first pressing 😄🔥🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Yesterday I saw them for first time in Mexico, I love this album and miracolously they started to play this song, I could not believe it, it was so beautiful for me
Quote from the book: "Brett brought in, "The Dichotomy," a song he thought would complement Greg's song. "That song is my attempt at writing 'Dogs' by Pink Floyd sideways."
This was a strange time in punk rock. A lot of hardcore bands were getting disillusioned with the violence in the scene and the repetitiveness of the music so they took chances. Bad Religion and Into the Unknown. TSOL with Beneath the Shadows. The Vandals with Slippery When Ill. Code of Honor- Beware the Savage Jaw. Black Flag went more metal with My War. There were others, but these are all i can think of right now.
Greg went through a phase where he wanted to be Rodger Waters (and so the band could slow down the pace of their live shows. It's tiring hammering drums for 40 years). It's actually really cool. Haha. I love it ...but ultimately good fans hated it at the time so they could go back to their normal stuff. This song, me likey.

Do What You Want: The story of Bad Religion, by Bad Religion with Jim Ruland, 2020 So actualy, it was Brett Bringing up this song, but they did wanted to make a prog album at this point in time, while it wasnt a specific goal for the band's life
skorli you are absolutely right! Those are great songs, much better than many contemporary. Those are there first songs so that is what they really feel. Now its simply a factory of albums.
I can't believe that I never noticed that after tons of listens to both. Tremendous find you've made. With the "worms eating into his brain" part on Billy Gnosis, I wonder if there are any other direct Floyd influences on ITU.
1.How Could Hell......2. Into The Unknown 3. Back to the Known 4. The Original 5. Suffer. Then all the rest are the same more or less. Maybe Stranger Than Fiction is a little different.
This album certainly is......DIFFERENT.......at least from most of their other stuff....... Sounds a little folksy......Like Greg Graffin's solo work mixed with 80's style keyboards.....New wave.......ugh......Ah well, can't fault them for trying somethin different.
I'm not sure if I should say that in public but I love this song :)) ..OK, except from the slow ending - It had been great if it ended in the faster tempo
You’re missing out on some really fantastic records by having such a closed mind. Against The Grain... Suffer... Truth... Process Of Belief... New Maps Of Hell... Age Of Unreason is pretty great too

You're damned right we hate it for those dumb ass synthesizers
this is the only time when synth was kinda cool.

I love it because of how weird and different it is. I'm not ashamed to admit that this is my favorite Bad Religion album.

A Hardcore band releasing a Prog Rock album? Fuck, this sounds great.
They started playing this song live!
Bad album. Great song. 👍
Yo if they play this live at the show I'm going to in st Augustine id flip out!
thank you so much for putting up this album. I've never been able to listen to it before
Bad Religion no long disowns this album. This song is being played on their current 2019 tour every night.
Steve I Billy Gnosis made an appearance a while back pretty consistently too

Best song from this album!
I always loved this song.

only BR could be a massive influence in hardcore punk, churn out loads of intense punk anthems as well as release a catchy prog rock album like this.
i wish there was way more bands that Played this sort of music.
The Moving Image. we're releasing an album soon.
Good music is good music

My first thought was "PINK FLOYD?"
btw this album is really great despite being so different from all the rest
Punk Floyd?
This blows away anything Pink Floyd did, because I don't feel like falling asleep halfway through it.
In the book they do say it was a go on pink floyd: dog
This literally sounds just like Pigs!
This album blows my mind ♡

They played this at Sabroso Festival on 4-6-19. What a shame I didn’t catch it on camera
thank you for posting this album harrybelly. super appreciated!
amei! que achado sensacional
groove slam punk folk wave rock 😍 SYNTHESIZERS 80s and Bad Religion 🇺🇸
1:11 "It's morphing time!"

Cool spacey music
This is the best song from Into the unknown... they should play it live.
They did, last night at the Roxy...
They did last Friday in Barcelona
Yep. I don't care for the other songs on this album but this one is cool.
The played this live when I saw them last month, minus Synths
I can't believe that I never noticed that after tons of listens to both. Tremendous find you've made. With the "worms eating into his brain" part on Billy Gnosis, I wonder if there are any other direct Floyd influences on ITU.
Well, never expected a straight up punk band to have released this...80's pop/prog rock esque album lol
The best album Bad Religion ever made
1.How Could Hell......2. Into The Unknown 3. Back to the Known 4. The Original 5. Suffer. Then all the rest are the same more or less. Maybe Stranger Than Fiction is a little different.
don't you think this song could remind something by Pink Floyd? I'm thinking about Pigs from the Animals album...
AngrierGorilla yeah same
Literally exactly like pigs!
Legendary song
There's also a Led Zeppelin keyboard riff in there too!
reminds me of a Pink Floyd song, not quite "Hey You", can someone help me?
Rolon!!! Me pone bien esa rola!!! Gran banda sin duda!!!
thats Great. sounds like Pink Floyd.
this is incredible
I just got to witness this song live in Columbus at camp anarchy, but a cant fucking find it anywhere
This album certainly is......DIFFERENT.......at least from most of their other stuff....... Sounds a little folksy......Like Greg Graffin's solo work mixed with 80's style keyboards.....New wave.......ugh......Ah well, can't fault them for trying somethin different.

Damn this is good
Pigs, anyone?
Also reminds me of King Crimson “Easy Money”.
Yup. Same riff's in "Dogs" off Animals.
I can't believe that I actually heard this song last saturday.
Oops, I mean "Pigs"
just looked up how much it would be to buy this album n its fuckin $90 used.
THE RIVER!
Greg's voice was better back then than it is today haha, and he was 18
this is actually the 3rd best song on the album.
yeah i can hear it a bit.
They nearly predated RIDE and Stereolab
does anybody else hear the riff from Pigs?
This song sounds like Asia.
If pink Floyd went punk
wow this album sucks, but thanks for letting me to get a chance to hear it
Avoid all bad religion shit and only buy '80-85' and 'How Could Hell...'
Sean Morpheus Telling others what to do isn’t very punk
