Slim Smith song some great songs that I grew up on as a little boy back in 🇯🇲 my favourite is picture on the wall and rougher yet now listening to them all in the 🇬🇧. Great singer gone too soon 🙏🏿
Jah Bless My Brother!!! Thanks a million for this video. As a child I fell in love with his voice and cried when I heard the devastating news of his death on RJR radio... Continue to Sleep in Peace Slim Smith... Your beautiful voice and music will never die🙏
Slim Smith was so amazing. One of the first 45s I ever bought was Slim Smith's Hip Hug and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for this. I didnt know this history.
Slim Smith was one of my dad's favourites, and my grandparents who threw parties practically every month. Even when I got to my teens and started raving Slim Smith was a clear favourite played by all the sound system. Reggae Appreciation Society I deeply appreciate your endless gems of musical history. Blessed love to this channel . ❤️💛💚🖤
He did a great cover of [watch this sound ], my favorite Slim Smith song, and another song with the Unique's entitled [little did you know] sometimes I just listen, just to hear his mellow voice.
In my top 5 for sure. “The New Boss” is a one-and-only tune. I have wondered if Slim Smith had bipolar disorder. I have bipolar disorder myself, and I see a lot of similarities. My gosh what a voice though. What style. “Rougher Yet” is just tooo good of a tune. So sweet. And Slim’s cover of “Turning Point” is just…. Wow. Wow. Speechless. Thank you 🙏 this channel is awesome. I love reggae music!
My Conversation (with so many different versions one can care to list) is to me one of the greatest gems ever to come from Jamaica.I can never getv enough of that tune. It is your small island pride. Slim had the voice and a great ear for uptight and well arranged rhythms with the able accompaniment of his formidable The Uniques. Rest easy bra.
That’s way way sad , boy he could, sing ,he just made beautiful music so young with untold talent , I’ve got to say that was one of my favorite episode, & there’s been some terrific episodes, nice one 👍
One of the great songwriters of the genre. Turning Point is a personal favourite.. epsecially in the context of the tragic aspects of his life. Great content as always ! Raspect
Jamaica’s greatest solo vocalist ever! His vocal delivery has not degraded over the years. Big thanks and praise for your posts. Ps can you please do a Lloyd Charmers/ aka Lloyd Tyrell tribute. Respect ✊🏾
Slim Smith died October 9, 1972 not 1973. I met him and Ken Boothe when they performed at a show in Lionel Town, Clarendon in 1972 and he died two weeks later. His wife had left him and went to New York and he was so upset that he accidentally killed himself by punching his fist through a class window and realizing that he had cut himself and he bled to death.
Sl8m Smith.jamaicas very own Sam cooke..like cornell cambell. Nick Thomas.. and more than a few others baklkayard_one mana dominants eclipsed them..mister Dennis brown..not through lack of talent..he'll. Know..these were / R giants in there own right..but browns talent and amazeing vocal range raised his profile and rightly so..but this is about slim..I was about12/13 when I first herd the album just a dream ..say no more just listen 2 it..
Does Bellevue Hospital and/or any of those around Smith who care about his legacy have any interest in telling the public what his diagnosis was when he was hospitalized? It’s high time for musicians to end the stigma around mental health, especially Jamaican musicians. You hear the struggles in so many tunes but they never talk about it, all we hear is “Don Drummond was schizophrenic” and that’s about it clinically. I think it’s very possible Smith was bipolar. I really want to know, out of love and curiosity, not judgment of course.
Freddie waites son ( the ) drummer went mad and was committed to an insane asylum. ...also another member of ' musical youth ' died tragically..I think it was the ( other ) son very very sad story ' musical youth ' ,...very sad, and they got all there money robbed from there manager...'Conversation ' was the song that mash up London UK in early seventies, ( or was it late sixties ).?....max Romeo hit was " lie dung gyal mek me " push it up " ,... A real Shame ..

Pat kelly would be in there , as well. Nicky Thomas was underrated. All of them are very good Jamaican performers, however.
In one day, look how many views u got, again thank you.
